At 1:18 you can capture the pawn on D5. It is also theory/book and tends to give more open and easy positions for white in my experience. Just a tip since you said in an earlier video that you dislike the positions you get normaly in the french.

Thanks brobro but wouldn't that kind of help black in the sense that it's going to allow him to open up the bad bishop diagonal?

I’ve been studying the French lately (because people keep playing it against me). I think the book move here is knight from G1 to E2 instead of C3. I’m not 100% certain why. Probably leaving options open to go C4. But, either way, it’s a line you want to get off of pretty early in my opinion. Because following it out all the way has white losing. So, perhaps C3 is the most accurate move in this position.

Its all part of the climb, you have an amazing gift of being able to explain & teach, it is extremely helpful for me to learn from. You are going to get 2000 & we'll beyond. I hope you keep posting vids after you reach your goal. Perhaps even be able to make a career out of it.... never know. How quickly you have gotten to 1900 is insanely impressive, takes a certain mind to do that. Respect & appreciation

Bf6 is a strong tactical idea, but it is also the sort of ideas that get 1900 rating players in trouble a lot of the time. If you evaluate the position, you will see that it is pretty equal. There really isn't a need for such a move other than to be creative. There was no way that black could have taken the isolated d-pawn for free. They just don't have the attacking pieces. So, ask yourself, why do you feel the need to take such risk? Even with a pawn down a rook endgame would still be very drawn and so would opposite color bishops. Perhaps it is a lesson in patients. Your skill level still fluctuates pretty heavily. When you play emotional chess, you often jump into double-edged positions for no real reason. In the end, chess is about opportunity. Knowing when to accept a draw is a big part of climbing the ladder. It would not only have given you a bit more elo, but also saved you so much lost. It is a very hard thing to overcome. I still struggle with it myself.

Hey - I'm around 1700 - love your content. Love your out loud thinking and reasoning. Don't listen to the hater.
Saw your painful losses. It is VERY helpful for me to see you get two big losses. There are times when you see stuff I never would have seen; there are times I'm seeing something you're missing; there are times I miss something and you miss something - very very helpful for me at my level. Watching you deal with all the aspects of loss is very helpful for me.
    Thanks for posting.

Wishful chess? That’s not what he’s doing. Doesn’t matter what your ELO is, attacking someone for theirs is gross.
