    Can yu detail your set-up? line weight, leader length, circlehook size? Taking my kids next weekend and need some fishing success. Thanks!

      For sure brother! 6-8 lbs line. Leader was about 10-12 inches and the other rod was about 18 inches. Circle hook was 1/O light wire. Good luck with the kiddos.

      Sorry for the late response. I typically use a 1/0 light wire circle hook.

    You did really well. Is there a certain lake there that is specific for catfishing? You mentioned mealworms, are those pretty small and how did y ou keep them on the hooks? Did you use very small hooks?

    • @pokedad.fishes
      @pokedad.fishes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you brother. They do have a Catfish Lake that have the big catfish, but they are catch and release only. They do have smaller ones in there that you can use towards your limit. They are pretty small but I put two of them on there along with the marshmallow and they stay on there pretty well.

      @@pokedad.fishes Have you tried catfishing during the winter? I know the trout is more popular during this time of year but I like catfish better but I know they dont also stock catfish this time of year, if you've fished them in the past during the cold months and know of which lakes to target please share

    • @pokedad.fishes

      Thank you brother! Yeah this is the same rod and reels I use during trout season. That's all you really need for here. Plus it makes it more fun when you catch some of the bigger sized ones.

    what line did you use for your main and your leader, and do you have any recommendations for bait there?

    • @pokedad.fishes
      @pokedad.fishes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have one rod with 6 lbs and another with 8lbs test with a carolina keeper. I've been using mealworms and marshmallows, which you can buy at the bait shop at the lake. Shrimp and mackerel work okay too.

      @@pokedad.fishes what about leader length during the evening, where to cast, and hook size?

    • @pokedad.fishes
      @pokedad.fishes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure about the evenings. I'd imagine they're in the shallows, so don't need to cast far. If I were to fish at night I would not use a weight and just use mackerel or shrimp. I've been using 1/O light wire circle hooks for these setups.
