im not into 486 boards but i like ur work - recommend get a pair of mechanic fine tip tweezers tho - they are brilliant for checking legs- and poking around - i use them all the time
Thanks Jon, I will look into that. I definitely need something finer, ever since I started using the microscope to solder I realized how enormous and clumsy all my tools are.
You certainly are very comfortable running cpu's with no heatsink, even though it's written on the ceramic. One little piece of advise for you, don't make that mistake with any AMD xp cpu, no matter the speed. As a matter of fact, don't even think about trying that with even a PGA370. If you can't even insert a 486 cpu correctly. You're gonna burn a lot of cpu in the future.
The only CPUs I dare to run without the heatsink are Dx2-66 and slower. Not sure what you are referring to. The Fan is what I omitted with the Dx4-100, which it doesn't really need. And ya.. I put the CPU in the wrong way.. but I hadn't touched a 486 in 30 years, I did learn from that mistake.
Totally held my interest, especially the bumpin' list music! Bummer there was no cat in this one.....maybe the next one? She's so cute! :)
I think we can hire her for another appearance next video.

Btw, I'm curious, what kind of boards are you into, newer or older than 486s?
