  • His Holiness the Dalai Lama fled into exile in 1959 after the Chinese forcefully occupied Tibet. First he resided in the hill station of Mussoori near Dehra Dun for about a year before he was offered a new residence in McLeodganj, Dharamsala. The town is located on top of a foothill of the southern-most Himalayan mountain range, the Dhauladar. Between the spring of 2000 and the fall of 2006, I resided in McLeod to study Buddhism.

A lovely community of people having very strong & deep affiliations to their traditions and country. The video is indeed touching! It saddens me to see so many of them displaced from their homeland by expansionist powers. In every interaction that I have had with Tibetans I have received warmth and politeness.
Perhaps some day they will be able to retrieve all that they have lost. China's heavy handedness in Tibet needs to be vociferously condemned by every civilized and peace loving country.
