That’s a very true statement I had a come to Jesus moment a few months ago when I heard probably the most stellar wind ensemble performance of all time
I've listened to many renditions of this piece, this is my absolute fave. Critical tuning and a conductor who presents this as an homage to it's composer. Pretty damn good sound engineering too.
University of Texas Austin wind ensemble just knocked it out of the park this past Friday with the Cavaliers drum and bugle corps (some members) as their antiphonal brass during the Appian Way movement. Such an inspiring performance.
Apart from an impeccable opera conductor, mtro. Noseda is also an expert of the italian symphonic repertory. Bravi tutti. N.B. I would like to add the last part of the work, the 4th. "I pini di Via Appia".
it is unbelievable that in the 3th moviment the trumpet play one the most famous solo. and there is not any moment that the camera take a close of the trumpet player 🤷
I known this conductor, he was young , he was to begining fo his carrier, finish second but he was for me and for th orchestra the first , jury wasn't in the same idea, something wrong under paper perhaps , but now i try to write him and he don't answer ! then no happy
One of the most colorful pieces ever written.
Greatest Orchestration piece ever written.
To anyone who's gonna have a chance to listen to this piece live - do it. You may be left stunned, but it's worth it. It's literally paralysing.
He's not lying.
That’s a very true statement

Just close your eyes, open your imagination, on your Musical Journey & be magically transported back to Ancient Rome - SUBLIME !!!
I listened to this in complete darkness on magic mushrooms. Incredible.
Stunning performance of a favorite of mine!
The soloists were on point. 👌
I love the ending with the relentless pounding of the timpani drums depicting the soldiers marching
Epic. He kissed the score at the end. That is true reverence to Respighi.
Yes indeed!!!

Best Pines of Rome I've ever heard. Also, absolutely superb camera/director work.

My guy really sweat out his entire body fluids conducting this beauty!
Bravo, Gianandrea!
Forza Roma!
Pines Near A Catacomb builds to a slow crescendo, lingering in joyful solemnity, then ecstatic release! Bravo maestro!
Grazie per la splendida, emozionante esecuzione
Absolutely LOVED the maestro's energy! Indispensable in this music.
Bravi, bravi. Una bella esecuzione, davvero! Emilio Respighi
Forza ai Latini!

Wow, amazing, just amazing! I didn't think anyone could equal late life Karajan in this piece, but here it is! Bravo!
Gianandrea Noseda: gran conducteur!

N.B. I would like to add the last part of the work, the 4th. "I pini di Via Appia".
This splendor is undisputed
This splendor of words can not be turned on
Especially
the pines of the Appian Way invigorates the human spirit
Muchas. ....¡¡¡¡¡¡¡Muchas Gracias.....!!!!!!!!!

Too slow tempo for me.
imo too lethargic. Do yourself a favor and listen to Toscanini doing this, its mono, but the excitement... oh!
Way, way too slow.
