I’ve been to Catalina Island a few times, taking the ferry from Long Beach. Didn’t know that cruise ships dock at the Island.
I had a pretty good seafood lunch, with a great ocean view, at the Bluewater Grill - you might want to try it next time!
OK when you popped out your pinky you cracked me up. Lol! I think the cat with the daisy is pretty darn funny too. 🤣🤣
I don't know which one I laughed harder at, the cat pooping the daisy or Bill laughing at the cat pooping the daisy.
My girlfriend & I are doing this same cruise but instead of the sea day being first, it’s last! We’re going in November and looking forward to it.

"Sea days" My family took the interisland cruise in Hawaii. It took us a whole day to sale from Oahu to Kauai. At one point we asked the crew, if we're going to Kauai why are we sailing southeast and not northwest. Lol,

When you were at sea yesterday, I assumed you were already heading to MX. It is surprising that you were only heading to Catalina Island. Were you cruising in circles?!?! HAHA!! Another great review and looking forward to Day 4!

Cruise lines sometimes have to go out to sea (international waters) to meet certain requirements. I don’t know about this cruise, but if they wanted to open the casino, they’d definitely have to be out at sea.
That's Royal's itinerary, it's different that Carnival's. Guessing Catalina can only accommodate 1 cruise ship at a time? We dunno.

We never been to Catalina...thanks for the tips! That ball thingy in the promenade usually inflates and deflates. That has to be a wig on the guy sitting behind Bill at 29:29. haha!! Did you guys watch any of the production or ice shows? The ice shows are not to be missed!
We had reservations to see the ice show, but we knocked out.
Dang we ate at both NDMK and Maggie’s Blue Rose. Bummer they were both closed on the day you went. We are so jealous that you had such great weather though!
Luckily, we had both before, but not on this trip. lol. All good though, loved that pizza! Best weather we had of all the times we've went.

We booked an August Ensenada/San Francisco five night cruise. 🙂

Thank you for the videos on board Navigator of the Seas! Which of the two cruises did you enjoy? Carnival or Royal? Are you planning to go on a Disney cruise soon?
Both have high points. Royal has better included food in the buffet and main dining room. Haven't tried any of Royal's upcharge restaurants yet. That said, we're both Carnival fans, almost at Platinum level.

I always pictured large tables in the formal dining room where you would sit and mingle with other cruisers. It appears instead there are small tables to fit just the couple or perhaps party of four. Is dining with the Captain and other cruisers just a figment of my Loveboat memories?
This ship, one dining room, 3 decks high. Early, late, and your time dining. The big round tables were in the middle area, you can still request to be seated among other cruisers mostly for the early and late dining folks (so food service is delivered at the same time). We had the 'your time' option.

I’ve always wanted to go to Catalina - years ago I was told of a great fish and chips spot there. Have you ever had fish and chips on Catalina? Wonder if it’s even still there?
Saw a fish & chip place on the pier, but never had it. Also, lots of other seafood restaurants there that probably offer fish & chips too.

You could order an extra entrée if you wanted more shrimp.

Slides, pools, and jacuzzis all open. We didn’t check out the pools so we don’t know how warm/cold it was.

The staff in the restaurant seem very attentive! Do you tip at the table or after the cruise? Or do you tip at all?
We prepaid the gratuities before the cruise. That said, you can add additional tip to any person who went above and beyond at Guest Services or simply hand them cash.
Hey!! I have a couple of questions: I was under the impression that all of the food on the cruise ship was included. Why did you have to pay? Also, how many hours do they allow you to be off of the ship?
All foods in the buffet and main dining rooms are included in the price of the cruise. Additional charges are for specialty restaurants. Time at port depends on the port and ship's schedule, but generally from the morning to late afternoon for most ports we've been to.

Anyway, the problem with all the US west coast cruises (including Mexico, Alaska and Hawaii) is that they are all done with old to very old ships. it seems that all the nice ships from every cruise line are never deployed to the US west coast. They are all in the Caribbean with forays to the Mediterranean and even northern Europe, but they are NEVER on the west coast.
Not all true, Carnival Panorama is pretty new out of LA. Carnival Radiance went through a refurb just recently. That said, Florida seems to get most all the cool new ships from all cruise lines.
Last cruise to Catalina Island & Ensenada was on the Carnival Miracle 4 months ago.
@@billandlisa I didn't know they have the Panorama on the West Coast, that's the newest ship ever -- 2nd newest Carnival ship after the Madigras.

Do you get to sit anywhere you want in the main dining room or are there assigned seating?
You’re seated at a table assigned by the Host. I’d imagine if you don’t like the table, you can request another spot.
its been a while since i have been on a cruise. Do they still allow one to have multiple entrees at one sitting ? seems like what was free the last time i was on a cruise, like johnny rockets , is extra cost now
You can still order more than one app, main or dessert if you want.

Do you think the Navigator was better than a Carnival ship? I’m debating on going on that vs. the Carnival Radiance with the same itinerary.

Hi Evan. We said it in the video at the 4:47 mark, but it was $10. Typically in our videos, if we mention the price, we won't caption it, and vice versa. And, for the pizza and beers, price was mentioned at the 15:15 mark and that was $29.
