      +That Person The abbreviation is plural and not singular. How many types of mathematics are there? Several. Examples: Geometry, Calculus, Statistics etc. I too am Welsh, and only Americans' say "Math", as usual, it's because they perpetually butcher the English language. There is no such thing as "American English", it's just "English" with bad spelling.

      Actually yes, there is such a thing as American English because dialects are a thing that exists no matter how much someone may not like Americans. There is also African American Vernacular English which has something called the 'habitual be' which does not exist in other English dialects. The phrase 'he be working' means 'he has a job', not 'he is working' or 'he is busy'. The differences between American and British English are smaller, but the only thing required to be real and internally correct dialects is that we understand the meaning of what one another is saying. So yes, there is American English, no matter how ridiculous or inconsistent it is. That is English in general anyway. Therefore, the abbreviation is singular here. Doing some math.

    • @hkr667
      @hkr667 6 ปีที่แล้ว +47

      Fair comment. You'd assume they'd want to use it for their own stand and I bet they do, but does that help? People pretty much recognise a hot dog stand by the looks of it and are too lazy to find a different one anyway. The "Bob's Sausage Stand" sign isn't going to improve business. Might as well sell off the space.

      Profit is money that you can do anything with.
      You can choose to not pay your taxes.
      You can choose to be homeless.
      Hotdog cups, condiments, gas (etc) are not needed as a part of the service and usually only serve to enhance the quality or satisfaction gained from the service but not needed for the basis of the service itself. You can choose to buy those extras but doing so will obviously cut into your profit.
      All of this however can be made up for by raising the prices based on the assumed expenses.

If nobody is making money then people cut every possible corner to make the product less expensive. That means lower overall product quality. A whole lot better that the city ensures that only so many people can sell hot dogs, and that all those people have some pre-established investment in selling a higher quality product.

Third reason a lot of governments have licensing requirements is well, just to raise revenue without the political backlash raising taxes usually creates.)

    i laughed so hard at the hot demand joke when you made that pause it is a key example of using a bad joke you know is bad but constructing it in a way that makes it funny.

    You only pay that high price for the license one time. Then it's a renewal fee every year. About 10 to 15k a year. You don't pay the 289k every year.
