Hello everyone and welcome to the first video of my tutorial series. I'll be covering some of the drum beats that I learned, what they indicate, and when to use them. Please feel free to comment below with any questions, comments, or suggestions!
In this video I give a basic skeleton of what show looks like from an instrument perspective. This one is mostly for review purposes, but if I have time in the future I'll continue with the beat breakdowns. I apologize for the instrument portion being a little off. The camera I used for the sticks is a little unsynced, so I had to speed and slow specific portions to match, but the basic structure and patterns are all in there.
Below is a list of time stamps that will help you pinpoint specific beats that you may need to reference:
Drum rolls (waking lion) - 0:57
Hei Si (high lion) - 1:26
Transition, 5 star walking beat - 1:38
Transition back to Hei Si - 2:00
Transition, 7 star walking beat - 2:10
Walking beat ending - 2:30
Inspection/interaction beat - 2:40
Drum rolls (retrieving items, tossing) - 3:10
Final toss, scroll reveal, ending, etc. - 3:58
Hei Si to alternative walking beat and end - 4:05
Ending bow drum rolls - 4:40
