The abuse story about Kubrick was debunked. That staircase scene was about 40 takes or so. Lee Unkrich wrote a massive book on The Shining and spent a lot of time with Shelley Duvall and everyone else still living who worked on the film. He came to the conclusion that the abuse narrative was false. Shelley Duvall vehemently denied any mistreatment by Kubrick. She spoke warmly of him and his kindness towards her She should be the last word on this. NO actors have ever complained about working for Kubrick. Including women like Sue Lyon, Shelley Winters, Marisa Berenson, Nicole Kidman, Leelee Sobieski etc. They all raved about him. So did Shelley Duvall. As for Scatman Crothers, he couldn’t remember his lines. That’s why they had to do so many takes. He was later virtually crying tears of joy about how happy he was to have worked on the film.
i just found ur channel at 5 am on a school night so i’m gonna suppress the urge to binge all of ur vids for now but ur so relatable and funny omg i feel like i stumbled across a treasure chest having this in my recommended
my sister loves loves doctor sleep which is the sequel to the shining! I would recommend if you want to read more she said it because it focuses on danny's perspective its nuanced. also i agree the film and the book are vastly different so much so even King had to be paid not to talk badly about it.
Okay okay I don’t think Stephen King is a bad person I was really only talking about Kubrick it was just the title I thought of I just think Stephen King’s a freak but not necessarily a bad person sorry for the confusion
@@Boogerlover2007 The things you said were grotesque internet rumors with no basis in what Shelley Duvall said her experience actually was and what others corroborated. It's amazing how much clout Dr Phil seems to have. But to take one example, this is from the Hollywood Reporter interview Shelley did... "He was very warm and friendly to me,” she says. “He spent a lot of time with Jack and me. He just wanted to sit down and talk for hours while the crew waited. And the crew would say, ‘Stanley, we have about 60 people waiting.’”
Stephen King is really arrogant and not a very good writer, but that doesn't make him a "bad" person. The "abυse" stuff about Kubrick is an urban legend.
And despite the fact that he's the credited director of 13 feature films there are really there are only ten. The first two are basically student films that nobody cares about and roughly a third of Spartacus was directed by someone else - it's a Kubrick film in name only.

Love ur vids pls make a vid about tender is the flesh I hate that book 😁
I'm not sure there's much value in categorizing entire persons as "good" and "bad".
Best book ever.. The movie doesn't hold a candle to the book. Read Doctor Sleep by Steven King next. You will love it. Prequel to the shining.

That was part of the condition for King buying back the film rights to the novel.
I get the sentiment toward Kubrick, but calling Stephen King a bad person for writing things that you find weird or unnecessary

The Kubrick abuse stuff is total urban legend that even Shelley Duvall disputed multiple times. What happened to believing women?
I would never believe a woman all they do is lie
