hello sir, it a very nice and interesting project. The only flaw i observed after uploading the code the letters appear on the display but when i turn off the power and on the system again. The characters are nor visible on the LCD display..i there anything to ix it.thank you

There is a potentiometer back of the lcd display. Just rotate it clockwise to increase the text contrast.

Why it use a resistor?

It because resistor is used for protecting the LEDs. Without a resistor, LED draws too much current and burns out.
