That is such a clever way of making homemade ice cream without buying an expensive ice cream machine, wow thank you . Cannot wait to have my very own sheep some day. Lord willing. May many blessings and mercies come upon you and your beautiful family.
When I am getting less then 2 liters per milking I will let the am and pm milk cool completly then combine them into 1 jar so the jar is full. I find it WAY easier to skim off the cream when it is from a full jar.
Thank you, this will be our second season and your video has me wondering why I struggled so much last year processing the sheep milk. You made it look so simple.
😂 love the comment about the kitchen and spotless looking kitchens in videos!!! Also THANK YOU for that cheesecloth tip! I will be sure to use that. Cute sheep!
New subscriber! 👋🏼 Love this, appreciate the helpful, practical, honest content. 😁 Especially the messy kitchen. 😂 We are thinking about sheep and keep sitting on the fence. Actually we need a fence
I have had much better success with the Two Prong premier one fencing. I've been having my ram mow the yard for me all summer and he hasn't gotten out of it and it hasn't fallen down even with big rain storms.
Great video! I see that at least one of your ewes is an East Friesian (or EF cross)!! I have 3 EF ewes and they're wonderful sheep. I'm only milking 2 of them right now (the other has some ff production hiccups at the moment and can't afford to lamb share) and for their first freshening I'm getting almost a half a gallon of milk a day!! 🤯 your video was so concise, helpful, and REALISTIC and I really appreciated it. I will certainly be trying to make your yogurt this week! 😁 I really want to make fetta! There are so few decent videos on using SHEEP milk.
I think there is nothing wrong with being adaptable. dishwasher or not, i think we as humans should be flexible. A tip for you. Keep a box of soapy liquid near the sink with a spunch next to it.
Your fridge looks like mine with all the milk in the mason jars. I've been getting into exotic ice creams with my sheep and goat milk (half and half in our household is 1/2 sheep 1/2 goat mix). I made a lavender honey with a pinch of salt and I made a kefir lime, freeze dried coconut powder, honey with a pinch of salt. Have you tried an electric centrifuge cream separator with sheep milk? I bought one but I haven't tried it.
@@theaeroponictowerchannel great question! I rotate mine around their pasture. They have about 1 acre to themselves. In the winter it doesn’t grow much at all so they eat mostly hay during winter time :) I hope that helps!
Excellent video. I have hair sheep and wondered if the breed of sheep would be pertinent to flavors or would it just be what they are foraging on? How long with the butter stay good in the fridge?
First thank you! This was really awesome and you packed a lot in for us. A couple questions: When I make greek yogurt I put the yogurt in a strainer. Im not sure how it’s different from your cream cheese. Id love your insight on this. Also, why do you freeze the yogurt then blend it? Does this prevent the ice block problem?
Great question! I think the difference is the length of time it is straining. I keep it in until it is cream cheese consistency and it gets that really good tangy taste and then I salt it which gives it that delicious cream cheese taste :) and for the frozen yogurt, you got it exactly right, it's for the texture :)
This video answered so many of my questions about sheep milk! We are buying our first small acreage and I’m wanting to get dairy sheep…can you recommend a dairy sheep breed that’s great for beginners? Thanks so much!!
@@virginiainnes9042 I have loved my East Friesian girl, she is an amazing producer, great cream line, and very sweet and affectionate. They are becoming more easy to find. There are some great Facebook groups where you can find ones for sale as well like “homestead dairy sheep” let me know how it goes!
If you’re local there is a farm near here that sells dairy called Whispering Pines. I’m not sure if they can ship it but here is their website: www.whisperingpinesdairy.com
This video was exactly what I was searching for! Thank you for sharing! (LOVED the messy kitchen! I was beginning to think it was just me 😂)

It definitely helps me to save it up and have a kitchen day a couple times a week :)
Love your kitchen and how real you are! Great video easy to understand!

You can use a dehydrator if you have the right kind. I use mine for my yogurt works amazing!!! Great to have some fellow sheep dairiers out there!!
I didn’t like the electric fence either but I love the wiggle wire and livestock panels so that I can move my girls to other sread
I really enjoyed your video and learned alot. Thank you for sharing. :)
I haven't done frozen yogurt yet I'll have to give that a try, thanks!

I love this! I haven’t tried a centrifuge yet though. Let me know how it works for you :)
Solitary 😂
Do they go on pasture or are they dry lot? We have a small yard so trying to figure out how to do this without pasture.

How long with the butter stay good in the fridge?
I found some in the back of the fridge from the fall and it was still ok. 😅 there’s a lot of factors that can go in to taste from what I’ve heard.
Great video! What breed of sheep do you have?
These are East Friesian 😃

Have you made a mozzerella type cheese with sheep's milk? Thank you
I did once! It tasted very good but I need to perfect my technique.
@WildHeartsHomesteadSC ok! I wasn't sure if it was possible since I can't find any videos about it on youtube! Thank you
No problem! I just used a cow milk recipe with lemon juice and it worked well :) let me know how it turns out when you try it.
I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way... I love you darling
Thank you for your encouragement! 🤗
Where can I buy sheep butter . I wanted for my scar on my skin.
