Book signings are so worth it, once you go to one, you want to keep going back! Agreed that it depends on the author list/friends you can go with

I have gotten two books signed in person before. Both were giving a talk and then signed their books after. This video makes me realize that I will never go to a book signing of the variety you go to. It sounds like so much work and time and money for very little payoff. I appreciate this video because it helped me realize that the only book signings I will probably go to are at bookstores or talks.

Love all the info! I’m going to my first signing this year 🤩 LoveNVegas, totally agree west coast does not seem to have as many. 😅 And I’m going to Book Bonanza next year, I mean assuming I can snag a ticket when they drop 😅🤩

Will I ever attend a large book event, no, but your Q & A was excellent! Some people like to "wing it" at big events, but I agree that planning can allow you to make the most of the experience.

Budget, budget, budget, all those fees add up quickly, especially if you have travel and hotel expenses. We're talking $1,000+ for one event once you start adding in flights/gas, hotel, parking, food, luggage coverage or mailing, and all the books. Personally, I rather use that money for more books lol. Also, fomo is a huge thing or guilt if you see an author with no one in line and just sitting there, ugh my heart. I've gone to multiple smaller conventions with new or indie authors so I'll buy books just because lol. But I also just gave two full bags of signed books to my used bookstore because they were authors I bought "just to try" and they did not work for me, so I have to get better.

Oh my god I had such a good time hanging out with you at Apollycon. I will say not all tote bags are considered equal. Most of the free ones will rip under the weight so I'd recommend something more sturdy. My favorite is from the Ripped Bodice because it's so big and so sturdy. I didn't stay in the hotel but I stayed in the one across the street and that was still pretty fun.

I've been to quite a few book signings and to be honest I find theme extremely uncomfortable for a number of reasons. I'm quiet by nature and when I'm standing in front of them, I've no idea what to say. I'm uncomfortable with the author sitting and me standing. It just doesn't seem natural. I feel so bad for authors who don't have anyone in their line. The ones I've been to, RWA signings, are so crowded, I get very claustrophobic and I find when it hits, I need to leave, immediately! But then I get stuck in line waiting to pay. By the the time I get away, I'm a basket case. Also, the lines to get in can be excruciating.
On the other hand, I love the panels. I check them out in advance and go to the ones that interest
What really makes it all worth it is being around others romance readers. Its being surrounded by my people. Its so easy to start up conversations with complete strangers as we all have something so vital to our souls I common.
And I've always stayed for a few days and spending the night mingling with authors and friends I've made over the years is indescribable joy.

I stay hotel cross street and fine because elevator was so much quicker lol. I did had titan tickets & pay & $10 cart for Thursday. A lot of my wristbands 280 to 400. Helen Hunting and Sophie Lark ( think she the only one went all her wristbands and then it was open) Laura Thalassa was lowest wristband at 30 next day. Crazy going back back forth and Thursday waited almost 2 hour to preorder Raven Kennedy. ( She stay like JlA both day.)

I live very close to the Authors in the Bluegrass event, and was considering going, but I don’t recognize very many of the authors listed…….can you give some recommendations of authors you read/books to try for that signing, since you are planning to go, there must be some you like……..thanks!
