This isn't an autopsy, it's emergency surgery! Cozmo is reassembled at 7:50 and wakes up from surgery dazed but fine! Great reference for repair in case Cozmo ever has a medical issue. Thank you!

So the actual repair was just a 'master reset' by power removal? Wow, lots of work...all just for access & rebuild. Looks like you saved Cozmo's life though....good job.

Taking apart Cozmo for battery replacement was no problem for me, but I can’t believe how quickly you separate the cube, been stuck in that for hours - is it just two clips in the middle?
one "tab" clip for each side on the lid of the cube, opposite of the battery cover. The battery tube block is hollow plastic.

The white light indicates his power is still on eventually he will fully power down turning off the light and if he is correctly put together the treads will also power down. If the treads do not power down it is a problem in the chips sending involuntary messages to the motor. If you place him on the charger you'll see the light turns green meaning he's charging take him off and see the white again.
So the app was doing most of the thinking for Cosmo?

Mine just went thru surgery due to one wire came loose from one motor. Just did circles.
However, when putting him back together, I noticed a spring! When did that come out. I don’t know when or where. Do you know where that funny bone goes? As it’s not too funny.

I found a 500 mAh 3.7 V battery, which should fit.
As 1 of my Cozmo's is taken apart to replace some gears,
it will be a good moment to test if this battery works.
Unfortunately, Vector is not for sale in Holland (yet???)
and the app only works in USA, Canada and the UK.

I got a Vector and the App works well in the Netherlands.
Because Vector is not broken, I will not do a battery exchange yet.
But as soon as his battery life start to annoy me,
he'll get an upgrade too.

Great video. Did removing battery solve the zombie problem? Since this is used toy, was the playtime any shorter due to LiPo battery degradation? Perhaps you could post a video how to replace battery in older Cozmos in fewest possible steps. LiPo typically don't last past 200-300 charges, depending on charging currents and discharging level. Seems like that Zombie issue would certainly overdischarge battery unless Cozmo has some sort of safety switch in it. Thanks

Kurtrox, can you tell me, is that LED headlight supposed to be illuminated all the time? My Cozmo has real trouble seeing his cubes when they are very close, and when I use a camera phone to look at the LED, it's never lit. Is it faulty?
Philip Corner the IR headlight is turned on in dark situations. the camera on cozmo will activate this only if needed. In explorer mode you can control this. but a dark room should do the trick automatically.

Go into the video settings and find playback speed then select a speed lower than 1x (0.25x,0.5x, or 0.75x)

No.Because Vector Software is not controlling from phone(when you connect cozmo with wi-fi)

Yes, the gear on the lifter is broken. You can take it apart, and move the gear inside to use the other, unbroken teeth.
Did you ever figure out the Wifi location? What we're all the chip models on the main (and secondary board)? Did you get a chance to dump them? Anything interesting? Thanks for the vid, was wondering what was in these guys.

why didn't you just send it back? you as a buyer are 100% covered no matter what. I sold some very expensive drone and camera equip sent it with insurance in 4 boxes got it back in one big destroyed box with a brand new go pro 4 missing and the controller wasn't the one I sent. I contacted e-bay and pay pal and was told in no uncertain terms that the buyer is ALWAYS RIGHT. I lost and now I cant buy or sell on ebay because of this scammer and eay/pay pal crooked policies.

I saw the Number P161212 on the battery during the video (a short shot), but that might help you. There is another video that actually shows battery replacement. I ended up ordering a 3.7V 400mAh 522332 Lipo Battery Rechargeable Lithium Polymer ion Battery Pack (Which looks like the right size, I hope it is not too fat) I went with 400mAh over another thiner one with 300mAh (which I believe that the original battery is a 300mAh pack.), but I always say, more is better.)
