Lol, I play male characters all the time and I'm a girl. Not in Pokémon though, as female characters get a ton more in the way of customization and I'm a sucker for character customization.
Grayson Wells never say never. There's a lot of learning involved in the intricancies with the breeding in general sure, like how to pass down moves, egg groups, balls (if you care about having certain Pokemon in certain pokeballs; Cherish and Master Balls *do not* pass down, Ditto does not pass it's pokeball down either), natures, abilities, evs, and ivs. But it's rewarding when you perfect the Pokemon to your liking, it's moves, ivs, nature etc. It can be time consuming, not gonna lie or sugarcoat it. Ditto/a male Smeargle are your friends for sure though. SOS Chansey, lucky egg, Roto exp is the fastest way to gain experience (also maxing out affection quickly with a few ranbow beans helps, and you gain more exp still when done). Plus you still have the peligo to max out the levels in a day. The HP up, iron etc raise friendship and also raises 10 EVs in the particular stat per item. Soothe bell is yet another item to help this, though i honestly forgot about it. There are berries to reduce EVs if need be, while increasing friendship if I'm remembering that last bit correctly.

Any pokemon can be good if you build a proper team to work with it. That's the beauty of it, but too many players are too impatient and rather have it 'easy' despite still getting bodied
This meta is worse than from ORAS! SM meta made me quit the game until Ultra Sun and Moon hopefully they do something about legendaries being used in ranked matches
