    I used to bring my young son with me on some of my electrical jobs. I told I wanted him to understand manual labor and to appreciate people in the trades and that if he wanted to stay in school that's good too. He said, Dad I'm staying in school.
    He is a CPA and does a great job on my taxes now.
    I do miss him in the crawlspace though

      My mom used to tell me to go down in the basement when my dad was doing electrical work in our old farm house with cloth wrapped wires strung on glass insulators to make sure he didn't kill himself. And to make sure he didn't screw up the ancient plumbing.

    To The Vancouver Carpenter:
    I bought this because of you BEN!! It was worth all $35 I spent on it!!
    To everyone else:
    If ever you think to yourself "Should I get this?!" The answer is an unequivocal "Yes!!"
    I bought this and used it on my house, and it turned a 4-5 hour job into 45 minutes.

      I was doing tile, and I made the tile equivalent for this, I call it the tile buddy. I basically just made a box that the tile slides through, and the trowel sits at the end creating those trowel lines. It was amazing! I need a sell it to the people who make tape buddy.

    I am doing a complete drywalling of an old house; been studying your excellent lessons. After your first Tape buddy video I bought one just in time to tape all my corners, dreading the wall to ceiling taping the most. This simple device started earning its keep immediately, working as shown and going quite fast. It's very rigid, moulding is thick and likely to endure jobsite abuse. 5 stars. Big winner, Ben! Thx a bunch.

    I had some water damage prior to a new roof being installed. I recently hired a guy to come in and repair the ceiling drywall. I ended up in the hospital just after he started. My sister came to my house and let him in so he couuld finish up. I was still in the hospital when he was done so my sister looked it over and paid him. 3 days later I get home and even I could tell it was done completely wrong and can see no tape was used it all. So after watching hours of your videos, I feel confident enough to do it myself. Thank you for all the videos you posted!

    We use this tool as well. It is a great tool. I got my wife and daughter to help me. We pulled super long ones and put them into a bucket. Then we carried the bucket 🪣 and typed the long ceiling drywalls with just one continuous type. It was fun but needed a long work bench and extra help such as my wife and little daughter. Kids like playing with muds.

      I built a holder that I clamp in an old B&D workmate. I am always working alone, so when I was doing long ceiling runs "20 ft" in my garage I premeasured the fibafuse tape with blue tape so when I pull the tape I know where to cut and place that in a 2 gallon bucket. I prefill so I use the less mud option. People might call this tool junk, but this has saved me tons of time.

    As a somewhat experienced taper who doesn’t do it often enough to stay proficient, I can see how this would help people of low to medium experience do a great job. And it’s priced very reasonably at under $60 US! That helps with making the plunge.

      You could use quickset but I'd get the 90 minute so you have time to work with it. The issue I have with using this mud is that it doesn't shrink like premixed. When using "normal" mud it dries pulling the paper tighter to the drywall.

    • @jhalleck
      @jhalleck ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I use 90 minute durabond. The reservoir holds about 4 lbs of mud which can coat about 110ft to 120ft of tape. If you plan ahead you won't waste much mud if you only mix what you need.

    Buddy, come on.....it's a mud applicator for drywall tape. To imply that the home owner did a good job because of that cheap plastic tool is comical. It's a time saver device for some and that's all. The pros use bazookas. If you really want a time saving method, use FibaTape. I used it for over 15 years without ever having to go back and do any repairs, EVER. How many jobs have you seen where the mud was a little dry and a couple years later paper tape starts to delaminate or a crack forms on the edge...all the time.
