I've been watching since you had a couple of thousand subs. Great to see you approach 100k. Thank you for a calm understated educational theme. I appreciate your privacy but I must admit it would be fasinating to hear how a young chap from Iowa got so involved with British cars, I saw an earlier vid with your father. Best of luck
Hi Steve, the water ports looked quite dirty where they link up with the head. All the valves were tight when you adjusted them. It is a good idea to slack them down quite a bit before torquing the head, because I think too tight rockers could influence the torque settings.
Very good commentary all through the reassembly. I would also torque the head in stages, always have done so. I think the 'rule of nine' is the easiest to remember for the valve settings particularly when you are getting old like me! She did sound a little weird on the video so I am glad you explained the vibration issue but once you drove it outside it sounded just like a race car. Thanks Steve for the video and Happy New year to you and your family. 👍👍
You should put the correct washers on the manifold drugs and bolts, spreads the load across the flange and reduces the chances of the alloy manifold snapping off with the weight of the carb.
WAIT WAIIT WWAAAAIIITTT You just gunna showcase that tube sealant applicator and not let the rest of us plebs know where you can get it?? xD I didnt even know there was such a tool!
Surprised there was no mention of the torque settings being generaly about 25% different between wet and dry settings, and if you apply lube and tighten using dry settings you can dangerously over tighten the bolt/nut.
Hay Steve from the video it loks like you left some swarfe in one of the bores after you cleaned the threads
I noticed that too 🤔
Me too.
Excellent content Steve. I look forward to more of the Elva. 👍
Nice video, Steve. I was hoping we'd here it run before video's end. Thanks!
That sounded great! A proper racer!
Great job as always. Love the step by step commentary and a real pleasure to watch this kind of reassembly.

Great video Steve! Thanks for the great content! Happy new year!
Great little cars. And pretty easy to work on by the looks of things!
Please more Elva videos - what special parts are put on the engine?
I LOVE your 'braces and belt' methodology!!
Sweet. Nice explanation of adjusting valves.

Sounds delightful
Older cars are so simple to work on compared to modern cars .
Great stuff thanks
I'd be happy to see more videos. My MGA has a 1622 B Series engine as well.
Another great video, this car sounds nice.

Hey Steve, did you get one of ThunderHead289's 8/16" wrench yet? Just to mess with people's minds!
I can attest, Remflex is hassle free.
Did you wipe the shavings from chasing the stud holes prior to putting the head back on? It looked like there were shavings in 2 and 3...
That’s water
Yes that car is cool Peace out

Hi Steve,Do you make an allowance with your head bolt tightening to allow for the grease on the threads.
Great show! Do you offer shop tours?
More Elva please
Hey Steve, do you have a Moss part number for that intake/exhaust gasket?
