🇸🇮 Koper, Piran & Portorož - Slovenia | Europe's Hidden Gem

  • Continuing our journey after a lovely 3-day stay in Ljubljana, we rented a car and drove to the small Slovenian coastline, which is only about 46km long, to visit the beautiful towns of Koper, Piran and Portorož and try to show you the things to see and do there,
    It was not very difficult for us to pick a favourite. Piran is a cute little town with great architecture, great restaurants, a beautiful church (St. George's) on top of the hill, where you have awesome views of the city.
    Porotorož is great for swimming but it is much bigger and more fancy, not really our vibe. The resorts can get quite expensive but if money is not an issue, you should definitely check it out.
    Koper felt more like a regular city, and because of the port, it is not the best for swimming.
    Overall we were super satisfied and brought many fond memories home, especially from the cozy Piran :)
    I hope you guys enjoy!

    Pirano doesn't look Slovenia because the city until 1954 used to be an Italian city, inhabitated by Venetian people for over 2000 years. Slovenians only arrived when the city falled under Slav occupation at the end of WWII when the 99% of the population was Italian and forced to exodus with violence

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh it is sad that so many beautiful cities have a dark past... :/

    • @davidetoffoletto9981
      @davidetoffoletto9981 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @ you can find this part of History searching in google for "Istrian Dalmatian exodus"... lot of tourists think those places are Slovenia meanwhile there is nothin Slovene there, everything was made by Italians. The places you visited are named as Capodistria, Pirano and Portorose. You can check in any ancient map of this part of the world, the cities will be reported with their Italian names because... just search

      Before the end of WW1 it was never Italian, Venetian yes, but not Italian. According to your statements your historical knowledge is severely lacking...

      @@valentintapata2268 Venetian are just part of the Italian people, like Provençals and Bretonnes for France or Castillans and Catalans for Spain

    • @valentintapata2268
      @valentintapata2268 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@davidetoffoletto9981 it was a different country, populated by Venetians, Slovenes, Greeks, Croats and others. Italians are not (at least originaly) one people, there are several linguisticly related but separate "Italian" languages. Venetians were also not the only rulers of the aeria - Romans, Byzantines, Franks, HRE, Habsburgs, Yugoslavia and Slovenia. Fasists tend to know only higly selected bids of historical information.

    The real town names are Capodistria, Pirano and Portorose everything you see there is Italian. These town were occupied in 1954 by Jugoslavija and in 1991 by Slovenia. So everything you see and admire there is Italian, not Slovenian.

      Lol, congratulation on the dumbest comment on youtube. Italy won the first world war in the London agreement requested lad claims for half of Slovenia and a big chunk of the Croatian coast. Under Mussolini, it begins ethics cleansing of occupied land. Italy lost the second world war and partizans retook all lost land including Trieste. That's what you get to be a fascist country. You are lucky to get Trieste back. And all the names of towns on the Slovenian coast have Slovenian and Italian names because of Italian minorities because we didn’t kill them as fascists would do. New go an read a book.
