This might quite possibly be my favorite track on the EP.
I woke up in the middle of the night, thinking to myself that "Discovery" would be a suitable name for my EP. However, when I started working on ideas for the title track, nothing seemed to quite work out. So I decided to challenge myself and sample something in my kitchen and turn it into a pluck. I ended up filling a cognac glass with water, until it sounded somewhat close to a B note, and then hit it with a mallet. This is what I ended up using as a starting point for "Discovery".

Ain't it nice when music does that to you! The bassline in Discovery certainly does sing. AK is a great musician.
Let me tell you guys how I'd DISCOVER-ED this song, it's like magic, hear me out... So at the beginning of 2019, my workmates and I were traveling to Koh Samui (Thailand) for a team retreat. We stayed in a 5-star hotel where the hotel plays this song as the background music for a promo video loop on their hotel room TV.
I was immediately HOOKED. For the first time in my life, I actually listened to a hotel promo audio on a loop. Usually, when I stay in a hotel, I'd just turn off the TV straight away but instead, I kept it on a loop whenever I go back to my room.
And I tried using apps like Shazam/Sound Hound to find out the creator of this music but I had no luck, I was super disappointed. But I did some research online and found the TH-cam channel associated with the hotel (luckily the hotel POSTED the promo video on YT). So I use it as my playlist, still didn't know who the artist is yet at this point as they didn't credit the artist on the YT.
After about 2 weeks, a friend of mine came to visit, he played his Spotify playlist with some songs (not this song), I find that I really enjoyed them and checked out the artist, it's AK (STILL didn't know "Discovery" is created by AK, yet). I listened to the whole playlist and then finally came to this song DISCOVERY, I almost cried. The song CAME TO ME instead.
Without any delay, I excitedly added that playlist on my Spotify, and it has also become my MOST LISTENED song on Spotify of the year 2019. Oh and I'm also connected with AK on IG for some potential collabs for my work. How crazy. 🙂

My 2-year-old daughter was ill for a year, and I always played her songs. One day, I walked into the room, and it was so cozy and peaceful, as if only that moment existed. It was January 24', my daughter was sleeping, and a song was playing in the background, which I immediately added to my playlist. It was this song. A month ago, on April 15, my daughter passed away. Now I listen to this song in an empty room and cry every time. Oh, if only I could bring back that day for just 5 minutes. Beautiful song. Thank you, AK.
We're in the same situation. My daughter is 2 year old too and passed away on April 13 due to blood cancer.

I experienced a lot of emotions during that time and throughout this song, and I just keep coming back to it. Now it comforts me once again after my dog passed away a few weeks ago. I can't tell you how much this song means to me, and its going to help me carry on seeing the beauty in the world, regardless of what heartache it gets me through time and time again. I first heard this music at Anantara Hua Hin hotel, where they play the looping in-house demo videos on their TV in the room. I thought it was the original piece by in-house outsourcing. This song is gorgeous. The music and video seem intended to evoke joy and love of life. I just wish it made me feel that way. Honestly, this song brings tears of sadness to my eyes. This is in my top two or three favorite song by you. It has such an ethereal and happy feel to it. It makes me feel like I am floating through nebulae and galaxies while I image them myself in real life. 3 years(wow).... I heard this when the song was a week here. 🥺
Every time I hear music, I try to imagine my own music video and for this song I imagine someone being sad walking around in the woods and sitting randomly on the ground there. Maybe the persons running when the beat starts to intensify. I imagine the person standing there and crying but trying to hold it back until the tears all come out at once. The clips aren’t showed in a specific order they just all kinda make sense however you put them together. In between the clips of the person there are just shots of the leaves or other things in the forest like the footage shown in the actual video above. ( another version could be that the person is really happy in the beginning but sees something that breaks their heart afterwards so that the music video ends with the person crying while standing or sitting on the ground ) also I don’t know if what I wrote was grammatically correct bc English isn’t my first language (but also, who in the world would read this) anyways, I wish the random person reading this a good day or night
