I curled up on the sofa with my favorite ice cream for this! I've been such a fan of all the Winans. My family had the privilege of going to the Winans Family Tour in NY sitting in the 3rd row. This was such a great discussion and I'm hoping I'll be able to afford tickets to take my mom and daughter to see BeBe when they set the date for Atlanta especially since my mom will need wheelchair accessible seating. Thank you for this Quest!❤️
Same here!! My first concert I remember was The Winans at the Apollo in NY with Bebe and Cece opening for them. My mom and a couple of her friends were with us. Amazing family who I love dearly.
Quest is the best at interviewing. His knowledge and deep thinking allows him to ask questions that are not typical, this also gets the guest to recall stories we usually don't hear. This was so good, as all the others!
This interview fascinated me not only because BeBe is always great to hear from, but to hear Quest talk about his introduction to gospel and the Winans. Which is a little different from those of us who are born into going to three services every Sunday and remember when “Question Is” “Are We Doing Your Will” first hit gospel music record stores. Very informative
One of the best interviews of people I really love in the music industry that I’ve ever listened to and seen. I’ve learned so much in this conversation with Bebe. And about his book which I’m going to look for immediately. Thank you once again, for hosting such a wonderful wonderful.
I loved listening to this podcast soooo soooo much. Stories and memories of Bebe were extraordinary, inspiring, mind blowing, and entertaining to say the least. Wow! He has met so many great people in his lifetime, it was amazing. Thank you for bringing him on. Awesome. Loved it!!
Quest, I see where you’re coming from with your miracle & magic analogy. I say they co exist, both/and allows miracles & magic to transpire…. The additional part is allll The Work you put in before hand….& the Faith…. Yes…. Belief takes form…. Then the “Meta” transcends as presence, awareness of being, consciousness….. Christ personified 🙏🏽❤️

I love the story about (Questlove’s ) his Dad. Questlove: “Marvel not, you must be born again!” John 3:7 😊. Jesus is still hip! In my household, The Winans (the four brothers) was first. My mom listened to the Winans when she would clean on Saturdays. The Winans, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Commissioned… that was my childhood and I loved it! I’m living for Jesus still & won’t turn back! Fascinating interview. Love the Winans family! 🙏🏽✝️❤️. BTW Do not let go of what the older folks taught…at least not 80%. Maybe some but not 80. Now wait a minute BeBe, miracles do not have to have your involvement besides prayer and faith. A miracle is a supernatural occurrence, and it is NOT magic! It doesn’t need magic. The HOLY SPIRIT is powerful enough. I am praying that Quest, in his quest, realizes that all we need is Jesus. 🙏🏽✝️
Man you preachin right here 💯💯🙏🙏 You know what's crazy too?? Man like all of them are from / grew up in Detroit Fred Hammond ...Clark Sisters... They all went to the same high school along with the Winans family kids
Another great episode and was really glad you spoke about Louie Vega towards the end. Louie got with BeBe and did a dope remix of Thank You which led to them doing Luther's Are U Using Me which led to BeBe's Brand New Dance then led to Louie doing Lisa Fischer's When You're A Woman track in 2000 from the 24hr Woman soundtrack. Not just Louie but we have to add in Kenny Dope Gonzales as they both make up the legendary Masters at Work remix team. Those fabulous bkgd singers, Brenda King White, Paulette McWilliams, Cindy Mizelle, Tawatha Agee, Fonzi Thornton and Luther just lifted the whole darn thing. Later in 2017 Fonzi went to Louie and asked him to produce a "lost" Luther track from the Never Too Much sessions with he same bkgd singers above called "My Body". Glad that BeBe still works with Louie to this day. That Chosen Few Picnic in Chicago that BeBe talked about performing at is something that needs to be experienced at least once. That 4am story at Club Shelter was very funny.
19:50..... I think I heard Marvin say one time they went into the Studio in 1979 .... To work on the "Introducing the Winans" album I wonder was " The Question Is" the first song they worked on .. 🤔🤔🤔
Get out! lol what a treat! I've had the pleasure of hearing that beautiful voice at the church in Detroit. Not the new church ... have they finished building?l
Great interview. Similar to George Benson, it's like an overview of late 20th Century R&B/pop music. Bebe seems like such a good-natured and down-to-earth individual. I did hope they would discuss the Winans' feature on 'Man in the Mirror'. I can't believe ?uest didn't broach that collabo...unless I missed it?
I just love of how BeBe and CeCe tells the stories of Whitney. They are just hilarious and joyous!
Amazing stories

Thank you for that. We will pass along that compliment.
You can definitely hear “I’m lost without you” influence in “Come back to me” after the Janet story. I love it!!
Wow... now that you say it...
This interview was joy to me. Bebe is a joy to listen to in song and speech. Thank you Questlove and Laiya for such a wonderful conversation.

BeBe know he’s Sexy he’s🔥and his song Father in Heaven just blows me away I love him❤️🙏🏾❤️
Keith Thomas was with Bryan Duncan and the sweet comfort band a ccm group
Great additional context. Thank you.
"It's Only Natural" & "In Harm's Way" remain my favorite songs w/BeBe's vocals. Respect to you & yours, peace.🙏🏽
They did gossip on the bad things she did🎉❤😊, the grace was on Whitney Houston🎉❤😊
19:57 to 20:10 Incorrect. Light Records was in Waco Texas about 100 miles from Dallas. As they made money they opened a office in Los Angeles.

Ugh Laiya is so annoying as a host. I wish she wasn’t in this interview.

Is this a classic episode from the COVID days? Why are they FaceTiming?
This was recorded June 2024. Zoom is convenient, and we do 50 episodes every year. We do some in-studio, but can't do 'em all that way...
