Magnus is just a standup guy with a major bonus of being an insane climber and all around beast fitness wise. Also that video you watched is the most inspiring I've seen in a while.
I think I will try the treadmill test, but just in normal PT kit first, and go from there haha. It is probably horrible enough without the weight, also the my gym may kick off if I try and wear a pack and boots on their shiny treadmills hah.. Insane resilience from these guys on pushing through the pain barrier to the end.
Goes to show how different regular running is to Tabbing with this intensity. Magnus a few years back ran a marathon without any training. 18 minutes into a TAB... Disgusting pace and Intensity. You should defo do this.
Yes mate exactly it's completely different, you need to train for it., he is a fit guy though and done well. I don't really tab at all anymore but I will give this a go for sure and do a video on it
Remember, this was done in impregnated (? - water resistant) uniforms and heavy boots. That's clothing hindering heat dissipation and 750g - 1kg on each foot).
These guys inspired me, a 66 year old kinesiologist/exercise physiologist, to train for the tests for this coming October. My documentation of the quest is ongoing. The TH-cam channel is Mike Burnside Fitness
I remember this, and I remember during the walking Magnus didn't strap his backpack lol. He's the most insane climber I've ever seen, he's awesome and I love him, but he must have hiked close to nothing (or _VERY_ little, for being a Norwegian) It was really sloppy and definitely interfered with his max. It's hard to give a number since a loose rucksack gets worse the more tired you get but maybe 20%? That also depends on his mind Edit: I guess I meant "adjust" and not "strap". There should be at least 5 adjustables (3 paired and 2 across) on a proper rucksack/backpack. They're alpha and omega on expeditions/carrying heavy gear (as well as HOW you packed). Edit: 17:21 He says "slappe skulderstropper" or something (slack shoulder straps) and Magnus adjusts the front straps :p So yeah. The shoulder straps are at the top, they keep your backpack closer to your back. There's often 2 at the top, for 2 different angles, and 1 under your arms which is just the height which you adjust after the waist strap. (The waist and front ones decide how much weigh you put on your legs and how much on your back). The one across the chest is largely irrelevant and mostly for comfort unless you have weird shoulders or the backpack is weird (for yo) so that the "handles" going over your shoulders slide away from your neck (or similar).
The Nordic military mindset is always going to be pretty different from that of the British and US because they know that they exist and are preparing for something that may actually one day come to their lands (Russia lol).
@@feonor26 That depends on your knowledge in War Propaganda, and both sides will lie their teeth out, always have done that, even long after the wars are over, because then propaganda becomes necessary to hide war-crimes etc done by the winners.
@@birdsteak9267 The Russian war crimes are pretty well documented tho. Not saying the Ukrainians are always doing things by the book but they are the ones defending themselves and they have the right to defend their country.
Great video mate, have seen magnus before he is a beast, obviously being a climber helped with the pull challenges. The tab is brutal, I've got a walking workout on the treadmill. Obviously nothing as hard as that, set treadmill to fast walking pace about 6.4 then every minute increase incline by one. When you get to fifteen you come back down. 👍
Not necessarily related to the video, but do you or anyone else watching the channel know what happened to Military Kit Review (Smudge) ? His channels gone and I can’t seem to find him on Instagram either.
how much do you know on recruitment? I have a question if I would be allowed to join because of my eyes I have a lazy eye and glasses would that stop me from being allowed to join? Just was curious idk who else to ask
You should definitely try the 25 min walk, that’s mental👍🏼
Sweet mate, thanks for the comment I will look to give it a go. Looks so hard
@@combatreadyhq Did you end up trying this? It looks absolutely brutal.
@@Eivind91sa no but I do have plans too. It sure does doesn’t it
@@combatreadyhq I'm still waiting for it!
Magnus did great. They were actually really surprised on how fit he was.
The 35 hour patrol is awesome. Also his day of military tests with the Telemark Battalion. ✊🔥👍
Thanks Terence, I'm going to watch the 35 hour patrol and react to it next,.I'll check out the Telemark battlion one as well
My cousin is a Captain in the Telemark. I'm half Norwegian by the way. RGJ and 2REP. I enjoy you content. 👍
@@terenceballands3321 ah nice one, good on him and thank you, great to hear you do!

I've not seen anyone post a video of them trying this treadmill challenge and it's been up for over 8 months.
Yeah I've not seen anyone else attempt it, I am going to try and attempt it.
2 former U.S special ops guys (Green beret, not sure about the other one) has tried it. th-cam.com/video/1lAZl1r3ceg/w-d-xo.html

Awesome! also can we have cool down and warm up workout video? Must be useful!
Here is a warm video from and I'll look to get another one done and a cool down

Not very worried about that anymore after their shit show in Ukraine.
i mean, norway has so many hills and mountains and fjords, you need peak endurance and strenght if you want to be in said force.

Yeah. Are you American?
Tabbing at over 4mph is always hard bet its gipping once you hit 9% incline no room for hats on this test
Hahah definitely not mate!
Watched this a while ago mate great video

Thank you mate and yes he is! The climbing experience really shows in the challenges. That sounds pretty decent too
U did great bro
Do you have to be infantry or paras to try out for special forces or can even royal engineers apply
Anyone from any service can attempt UKSF selection

He has had to close it down due to work and his new role mate

I can't say anything about the medical issue bit there are thousands serving with glasses, glasses alone won't stop you
Special forces units usually demands perfect eyesight to be considered. I had to get glasses so I couldn't join.
🤣🤣
Taking the shirt off makes it easier?
And the other guy dropped out, imagine they guys that passed the tryouts.
Even? He didn’t drop out, he retired from service
He retired
