They did finally tear down the school building. It had been a junior high school for years and is now an open lot. My family's house was at the end of the street.

LHS 2009 alum here. A cool fact about The Cadets is that it would become first JROTC program in the US. And would add the first girls cadet group in 1912. The Highschool building shown in that yearbook was built around 1904 and was the Highschool until 1959 when a proper campus was built. Now it’s an empty lot after being Demolished about 5 or so years ago . I love seeing history about my city. So old and overlooked! Thank you! I can’t tell you how cool it is seeing an 1908 Junebug and having a 2008 Junebug sitting in my closet.

Wow. That’s really cool! I did not know that! I actually found out later the school was still around, but didn’t know it was a new building. Thanks so much for sharing!

Hello! I actually go this school! It’s a different building before but the history is still with us. We still kept the June Bug name. I never knew we had yearbooks that far back !!! I find it fascinating since I’ve lived here for so long. Thank you for sharing!

Also, how did you find this yearbook? Leavenworth is such a small town I would have never thought the history is out there.

Oh very cool! This particular yearbook, I couldn’t say. I get a lot from estate sales and swap meets and sometimes don’t get to them right away.

I just found your channel. So much fun!!! I got my dad's yearbook from Detroit in the 1940's. Under each name of the students and faculty was their addresses. Sadly as I google the addresses, so many homes are gone now. Also the businesses that sponsored the book were no longer recognizable or just gone.

I know that when I was doing some research on Florence (hi from TikTok!) that the newspapers of the time liked to state comings and goings of town residents and her name came up every once in a while as visiting family in California. She was in the running for being class valedictorian, played the piano as part of the graduation program, and went on to be a 5th-6th grade teacher.

This is so interesting, thank you for sharing! I noticed while reading the names of the Freshman-Juniors that a few of them had abbreviated first names (Jno. Robt. Chas.) and I was wondering if you knew why? I would assume Robt, for example, would stand for Robert.

Hey! So, with the older yearbooks, the underclass as always kind of a side note. Sometimes they aren’t even in there. I don’t think they want to dedicate too much space to them, so they abbreviated it. But that’s just a guess from what Ive observed
