- Hi and welcome to the introduction of my 2023 stash down!
Today I will be organizing my yarn stash and counting how many skeins I have. I will be doing monthly updates so we can see how fast I can work through my stash and if I can keep from adding more.
I also talk about projects I want to make this year and with what yarn.

I've been crocheting, knitting and accumulating yarn a lot longer than you (I started in sixth grade...in the early 70s!).... My Ravelry stash has over 600 entries! I am trying to work on my stash too, but just today someone gave me a bag of yarn. A big, black garbage bag. Over 20 pounds. It's going to take me a little longer to work down my stash. Hopefully I will get the "unbagging" video done tomorrow. I'm not looking through it until the video!
Ooh that sounds like a big addition! It’s so hard when people give you yarn to get it used up!
@@bigknitenergy Maybe six years ago, a woman from church was helping clean out her sister's house, and she gave me two trunkloads of yarn, including 40 pounds of cotton thread. I have made close to 200 water bottle slings and dozens of dish cloths, and I'm still not done with it!
@@ElainefromPenguinPlaceCrafts oh my goodness! That’s so many water bottle slings! That’s amazing!
Your music choices were so lovely!! Lofi and organizing yarn? What could be better 😊
Aw thank you I’m glad you liked it! I actually have such a hard time picking music!
I loved this video and all your plans for this wonderful yarn! I look forward to see what you knit next from it!
Loved seeing all your yarns and plans!!! Can’t wait to watch them come to life!
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed this video! 🤗
I spy lots of beautiful mints and peaches. I too am working down stash, so will be joining in with the DoSo Knits 'Year of stash KAL'.
Yes those are some of my favorite colors!! Ooh that sounds like just the KAL for me! Where is it being hosted?
@@bigknitenergy She has a video on her TH-cam channel with all the links. :)
@@angelinacrafts5385 thanks! I’ll check it out
You have a bright blue yarn that was on the bottom left cubby right at the back, that was left in there. I didn't see you take it out.
Haha I just ran and checked and it is the lid of a snowman tin that I have on top of the shelf
Holst Supersoft (one of my favourite yarns) is a light fingering: Approximately 287 meters/314 yards per 50 gram.
Held double the gauge is 19-20 (=DK).
That is super helpful! Thank you!!
It’s probably too late to share this, but in my quest to stash down counting skeins is difficult and imprecise. Knitty Natty’s plan is vague and unhelpful for me-count this , don’t count that, etc. Shauna Stitches on TH-cam has a plan where she weighed all of her yarn and recorded the total. When she starts a project she weighs the yarn she’s going to use. When the project is done, weigh the yarn that’s left and subtract from your total yarn stash. For example I am knitting a pair of socks and started with 126 g. The leftover yarn was 17 g so I subtract 109 from my current total of 9,846 g. This way it doesn’t matter if it’s a mini, partial, full skein, 50 skein or whatever. It’s really simple and accurate. When you buy or acquire yarn you just add-it to the main total. Good luck!
That’s super precise! And I’m really just trying to see how long it takes me to make progress so I will be less impulsive. Unfortunately I’m not as thorough or detail oriented for something like that to be feasible for me.
yooooo I lost it when you threw the skein for your Alpenglow 😂 you have such a solid plan to your stash down this year I’m excited to see whatever progress you make in your journey regardless of how big or small. It was such fun to have a peek into your stash and your knitting plans!
Ha I throw stuff every time I film but I cut it out. And thanks! I hope I knit half the things I plan!
You have a lot of nice yarn. I subscribed to your channel. My name is Laurie, channel Cloudy Nook Crochet. I look forward being yarnie friends with you on youtube
Hi! So happy you are here. It’s nice to meet you Laurie!!
