  • 25 years before the Wii Fit Balance Board, Amiga released the first balance board for home consoles: The Joyboard. The Joyboard was a balance board that was released for the Atari 2600 in 1983. Amiga made a couple of sports titles for it as well as a "follow the leader type of game. Released in the midst of the video game crash of 1983, the Joyboard is an often forgotten piece of gaming history.

Please note that this is a re-upload of a video that I received a copyright claim on. I did take some time to spruce it up a bit and added a few new sections as well.

@@claudiobizama5603 This comment induces a ton of nostalgia in me. (Dad had an Amiga, which was my first computer.)

Glad to see it return. I kind of wish that companies would try new ways to play nowadays. Right now everything seems to be standard and unimaginative. I think after the Wii and Xbox's Kinect, companies have given up a bit of imagination.

I used to collect Atari carts and accessories.. I had this and a proto "off your rocker" with a hand written label back in the day.

Kudos for Yahel for bringing us the most obscure object in gaming that we even never think of.

Another very good and informative video. So it's not LJN but Amiga that introduced this peripheral. But unlike LJN this works better and compatible with multiple games and other computer systems. Kudos again for this. 💪😁🍻

Wonder why they didn't base it around pots like a paddle or trackball to make it analog? Maybe for the sake of more game support but I doubt I'd play Ms Pacman with it. ^_^
