@@williajohnson1851 I've had a moment where I wanted to compliment someone but they complimented me first and I didn't know them so when I got the compliment it broke the ice and I gave one back, and I was being very genuine
If someone compliments you and your reply is "oh thank you, that's so kind of you to say!" You have just complimented them back. Youve praised their kindness. Too often our compliments, especially to women, are solely based on their appearance. Thats great, but other facets of their uniqueness deserve to be highlighted also, like kindness, intelligence, sense of humor, competence etc.

So a lady told me " You're so pretty" and I said " Thank you, that's very kind of you to say" and she told me I'm not being kind I'm being honest, as if she thought I didn't believe her. I'm over 70yrs and I get compliments all the time, so now I just say Thank you with a smile.

I compliment people all the time, It never crossed my mind that someone should return the compliment. Trust me, I don't give compliments to be liked or because it's something to do. I'm truly genuine. If someone is giving a compliment from the heart, nothing more is needed except "Thank you"😊

Never compliment out of obligation. Receive your compliment with “thank you” and move on otherwise you’ll find your response is disingenuous.

I tend to compliment kids back, "aww thank you, you are pretty too" but if it's an adult it varies lol sometimes I say "thank you, you too" sometimes just thanks

Reminds of a local commercial shown in my city. The father owns a furniture store, and he has three (3) young daughters. The father talks about items and the prices. The daughters chime in on how he can sell items at more reasonable prices. He asks them how they came up with those ideas. Their response is, "We're girls, we know stuff." I love it!😂
Keep building your daughters confidence. A fathers role in a daughter's life is so crucially important.✌🏾

When people compliment me I’ve made a habit out of saying “Thank you, I’m just trying to be like you.” And add a wink. I just LOVE how it seems to make people feel. Sometimes, they may not be all dolled up and feeling their best and I can just see it lift some people’s spirit/mood instantly. It tends to catch most people off guard and they have the cutest reactions. 😊😊
As soon as you said you were in an argument with yourself my first thought was “ she’s bored, cuz why?” Then you mentioned taking meds. It was over for me from there. 😂😂😂😂

I usually say: "Aww, thank you!" Then I take a few seconds to look at them and find something I like.. it can be anything on them.. clothes, features, accessories.. and compliment them back.

One day I was going through the drive through at Chick-Fil-A. When I pulled up to get my food, I noticed the young lady that handed me my food was STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!!! She couldn’t have been older than 16, but she looked like a super model right off of a fancy magazine cover. I couldn’t help but but tell her how gorgeous she was. She blushed and smiled. It really made her day! I absolutely look for was to make people feel amazing. I don’t expect a compliment in return at all. I just like blessing people! I don’t lie, I genuinely look for ways to bless others. Long story short, no you’re not obligated to compliment back but if you feel led to, do it.❤❤❤
I try not to give compliments back if it’s not genuine. Back in the day they(I can hear my granny asking “who is they”😂)said if someone compliments you,you’re supposed to simply say thank you.

This is such a good topic! When I get a compliment, I usually just say thank you without feeling obligated to return the compliment. However, if I do really feel a way about the person giving the compliment, I will naturally say something complimentary back. I don’t force it or overthink it. Maybe because I take my meds. 🤷🏽♀️🤣
