    Thanks for the tutorial. One question please. Is necessary to have the free file sync or real time sync programs open in order to have the automatic backup (batch task) executed or it will be executed automatically even after an usual restart of my computer?

      @YellowYT  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      late reply here... Once you've setup your batch job parameters (8:17), and the RealTimeSync options (9:37), you can click on file > save as and then save it to wherever you like, this will save a .ffs_real file. Once saved, right click and create a shortcut. You need to put this shortcut into the startup folder in Windows. You can get to it by pressing (Windows Key) + R, then typing shell:startup in the Run dialogue box. Now when you restart, file syncing will automatically start and run in the background.

      This was a rather major omission. I'm glad you eventually cleared things up! @@YellowYT

      @@YellowYT You should of included this in the video as tutorial on how to automate this on every computer start up and also automate it to run occasionally in the background.

    This saved me hours. For some reason syncing is faster than copy/pasting, therefore more efficient. Thank you for the video!

    Thanks for the video. I would caution people about keeping an external Hdd or Ssd constantly attached though, as while update is good, it affords no protection against theft, fire, corrupt tiles, malware or viruses. On the flip side I just got this program and find it REALLY simplifies my backups. Good tutorial.

      Thank you for your support! This video had a bit of an issue at the end, randomly got cut?? Anyways yes, it's a very good tool for doing backups, and particularly if you have a server or NAS, you can keep all your files automatically updated in the background, so you don't have to worry about it, that's what I use it for, set it up around a year ago and haven't had an issue with it since! Thanks for the kind words again, it really does mean a lot to me for my work

      @@YellowYT Hi there! the Winrar trial period removal link on your Winrar video has Malware and a Trojan on it, I downloaded it and upon running Winrar straight after my laptop tried to connect to various websites and servers that got blocked by Malwarebytes, of course it is possible that these are false positives, but I dont thinks so, I have sent the info to Malwarebytes for confirmation that these are dangerous.I have also posted a warning in the comments.

    FreeFileSync also works with Linux and macOS. This is one of the great benefits of many open source packages, a true cross-platform system.

    Thanks, I made a backup that mirrors save files depending on file data and now it runs on a 6 hour schedule and it keeps versions on an external drive. This tool is amazing (idk if it works yet, but I'm hoping it does)!

    You kinda skipped of the sync methods. Also 2-way should only be used if you really need, it can make a mess and can also delete stuff.
    If it's for backup, I'd prefer update. This will do new files and updated ones. First your run a mirror afterward you use update. That way you won't waste time mirroring everything over each time you do a backup. Whe. You do a couple TB, you don't want be doing s backup for days a couple times a month

      Hi there, you can make RealTimeSync start on boot so you don't have to manually start it every time you turn on your system.

    I accidentally sync (mirror) a folder with a local drive D with all the content in it. With that, I lost all the documents in my hard drive D, except the mirrored folder. Is there away I can restore my hard drive's previous files? Thanks.

    Never seen MS improve their file manage system. They should include this in their newer version of Windows. All they did was making their icons look beautiful.
