    I bought this camper and got ripped off because the seller hid a rotted floor in the front. So here I am retrofit / installing the new floor in my camper, and talking about other things that I did or want to do. I just used plywood to make the floor of the camper. I had to lift up the cabinets and walls so the plywood would slide under the walls and cabinets and all the way to the end of the trailer frame. I had to piece in the floor like a puzzle in order to get it under the cabinets. To take the camper cabinets out, I would have to remove the outer siding of the camper, because the cabinets are screwed in from the outside before the siding is put on. This is a 2007 Weekend Warrior fk2100. This trailer was built around the time when the Weekend Warrior company went out of business because of a lawsuit involving all kinds of problems with Weekend Warrior campers at the time. It's a 25' toy hauler and has great user features, sadly it was built very poorly like most campers.

    i feel i simply MUST tell you what your videos have meant to me today. I am a widow of 1 yr, my husband having been killed in a motorcycle crash -long story short, i had to let my house go & stay in the camper until i can get back up. As luck would have it, the back half of the floor is about to fall through 😣. Looking around, it's clear that I have no one to help me so looks like it's time to put my big girl panties on and redo this rotten floor by myself. As scared as I am to attempt this I really have no choice. Combing TH-cam for help has left me in tears for 4 days Until I found You! watching your videos has given me a glimmer of hope that perhaps just maybe I can do this. Never in these videos do you sit and complain or list the number of reasons why I should feel defeated. you don't say it's easy but you never say to give up, you just do it& That has given me the confidence to get up from this bed & start. However coincidental it may be, going through your videos i notice videos about doing things to my year model Honda accord Which I will have a to repair myself as well & seeing that you have videos on this too, has lifted some bricks from my shoulders. I will be starting to tear up the floor today here in North Carolina. Everyone please send positive thoughts my way because I can't help but second-guess myself but I've got to do it. Again thank you so much for these videos! Have a great day

    I don’t know you but after watching your video I’m so proud of you for DIY and sharing your work. I bought my toy hauler with the same floor issue, in front of the kitchen area. It seems the first owner started the work but decided not to move forward and sold this trailer to me. We still live with it and haven’t fix the damage yet. Awesome job and thank you for the video.

First thing today is to fix the leak that caused all this. I will not be negligent in looking after my camper again. Thanks for the video and I subscribed.

We got scammed too and wouldn’t have discovered our floor issues except that it just got really hot here (Mississippi) and the laminate floors started peeling up in places. I pulled some back today and, sure enough, rot. Unbelievable how crooked people can be; so wrong. I hope ours isn’t as bad but if so, I hope we handle it like you did. Impressive work. Hi there . I watched your floor removal too. Great job!!! I have to replace the front section(shower and toliet area) of floor in my 05 carson fun runner. I currently live in my trailer so doing a lot of research before I tear anything up. I looked underneath and there is no center beam for the floor to sit on. Just the outer frame on front and both sides than the 1 cross rail which is in between the holding tanks. 3 feet from the front. Im gonna have to add a center support and it look like I only have about 1/2 in from the black tank to the bottom of frame where the floor sits on. Can you show me how your center rail is tied in. Thanks.

    Do you have any pictures of how you repaired the underbelly when you were done? I got ripped off with a 2006 Thor toy hauler and have to replace the back portion of the camper. I'm pretty sure some of my water problems are coming from a combo of either the back doors and or the damaged underbelly around the fuel fill area.

    • @aDIYCarGuy
      @aDIYCarGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They make underbelly tape. I just removed the parts of the black underbelly I tore and just stapled up some hvac bubble insulation with 3m metal hvac tape around the edges. Doesn't have to be perfect, some campers don't even have underbelly material.

    • @aDIYCarGuy
      @aDIYCarGuy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It took me a month to do the floor, it was really difficult, on top of working in between the constant rain storms we had. The first thing I did was reseal the roof before replacing the floor. I would just have to put everything away if it started raining. The whole project spanned the whole summer...removing and installing the floor, laminate floor and trim, lifting walls, resealing the roof and a window, replacing an axle, and more. I did get to go camping with it a few weeks ago 🙌. Now I have it under a 10' x 30' tarp so nothing happens over winter.

    • @luannalovell
      @luannalovell 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeh the rain is a problem, Im in UK and we had so much sun this year , I wish I had started months ago. Now it's intermittent days as usual so a rush to do anything . I got ripped off too. I only paid 600 for a caravan but to me that is a lot only to find the same, Im actually thinking to strip it all and make a shed out of it instead , you seem to have good experience with woodwork for sure, and a real strong purpose too

    • @aDIYCarGuy
      @aDIYCarGuy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea it sucks to lose any amount to a scam, especially to something that was supposed to be a positive experience, so I'm sorry you got scammed too. In middle school we had to take wood shop, and in high school I took wood and metal shop. They made a bunch of industrialists out of us. I will still have to open up the front outer skin and let it dry and probably replace some wood in the wall...but that won't be until next spring. What happened to your caravan, did it leak through the roof or plumbing or something else?

    • @luannalovell
      @luannalovell 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wasnt offered woodwork at school, we had needlework lol. Tell you what tho, would have loved it! Yeah it already had a leak and he'd patched it and said he had replaced the wood too on the front corner, so I think the rain just followed the section he had done and the paint is cracking on the roof too. To be honest it's a totall redo, I'm going to order a tarp so I can get started ! Being a woman I feel very intimidated by it but after many tears, I realised the worst I can do is not put it back together!

      @aDIYCarGuy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The school made us learn how to use a sewing machine too 😉. That's great that you're going to go for it. Take your time, do research, work safely and it should work out fine, and remember it doesn't have to be perfect, mine isn't!

    • @aDIYCarGuy
      @aDIYCarGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      First find and remove the screws that attach the cabinet to the floor, then maybe you can get the flooring out from under the cabinets. If you need to remove the cabinets, they are likely screwed in from behind the camper's outer skin

    • @aDIYCarGuy
      @aDIYCarGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The bottom of trailers are covered with a plastic membrane, with insulation above it, and the wood above that. So I can't cut someone's trailer open and look at the wood haha. If I pressed hard enough in enough spots, I would have been able to feel if the wood was soft or hard, I just felt one spot and was like "meh that's good"....I also should have felt the floor inside the front cabinets. That's where you're really going to feel if the floor is rotted or not, on the inside of the trailer.

      As a very experienced pro remodeler of homes and campers I definitely would have used adhesive of some sort. The floors are maybe less important (for adhesive) but the cabinet panels like the one he made removable are actually structural and should be glued in a camper.
      Henry white elastomeric roof coating at Home Depot. Wash roof with TSP, rinse, dry, roll on two coats according to label directions. One problem solved. The other problem- windows:
      Loctite PL Window Door & Siding Polyurethane Sealant. You can painter’s tape around the windows and caulk them with that; it will outlast you and me! Peel the tape just after smoothing the caulking and it cures in 2 or 3 days to the most durable seal you can diy. A nice caulking and tape job actually looks better than the factory did it. Window seals will leak in time and should be replaced but around the siding-to-frame is where I see most leaks happen
      (Don’t use silicone caulk: it’s cheap, easy, and will not last. Plus it looks bad)

    How much to replace floor? Labour?

      Really depends on how much material you need and the price of it at the time you buy it and where you are, you will have to measure it up and calculate it. It might have cost me $300 at the time but I don't remember. Several days of my own labor spread out through a few weeks working around weather and my other work.

    Now I know how to make quick money doing shady floor work. 🤪
    1. Buy a camper that ready to go to the trash.
    2. Go to home depot
    3. Go tod the bank and deposit money.
    Easy as 1 2 3
