I LOVE this reliability test!!! There is NOTHING like watching the reliability test of a SUPER INEXPENSIVE, and almost all plastic .22 LR pistol, only to see the operator getting bored with not having ANY malfunctions of any kind, shadows of objects in the back ground changing because of the time taken by the movement of the sun, the target going from a fresh "site-N-See" target, to a hole in a piece of card board, and running out of most of the worlds variety of ammunition to test, during the test. IT'S THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING! I love my P-17's!!! Very nice review; nice presentation. I got my P17 last week & absolutely love it. My trigger averages 2 lb with a Lyman digital gauge. These guns are an awesome value & work very well. Keltec got it right! 👍
I bought one 2 months ago. I dry fired the weapon & at 100 rounds it wouldn't eject the spent round fully, yet when I lubed the gun, Game On! It fired forever.
Great informative video! Only had mine for a few days but ran a few mags through it and it did great! Taking it to the range this weekend to have some fun!
Just bought a p17 after looking for one for nearly a year and a half. During the height of covid these were selling on gunbroker at staggering prices above 600 dollars. They're still hard to find but are slowly coming back in stock and at a reasonable price point. Looking forward to trying the little guy out
I hope you like it. There are some guns that I understand people paying over retail just to get. A little plinker 22 would not be one of them. 600.00 and above is a little excessive. I am happy you were able to find one more reasonable. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Good review, although I think I would've used a new target for each type of ammo, so you could compare the group sizes and therefore see if the pistol liked one type of ammo better than another.
Nice review! Interesting concept Kel-Tec used for the design. Would like to see a review after 2k rounds. I like the price. Maybe down the road I'll pick 1 up but right now I'm having fun with my CP33. The thing is a tack driver with a red dot mounted. Also running mini mags with no problem chambering the 1st round. I know some people were having problems with that. I was at 1st but found making sure the 1st round was tilted upward at the front in the magazine fixed that, now after about 2k rounds through it i don't bother checking the 1st round and it chambers fine every time. 👍
9/6/23 just bought a P17 on sale for 199 in black free shipping until 9/10/23 . It was hard to find anybody that had stock or the prices were 249 to 279
Mine is a pita to load that 16th round in the mag, i end up putting a dent in the 15th round trying to get that 16th one in. Then the mag wont lock in on a closed slide, the slide has to be open for the mag to lock in. Then it won't chamber that 16th round, it jams and gets stuck and i have to remove that 16th round. Getting 15 rounds in is easy and the mag WILL lock in with a closed slide on 15 rounds and will chamber that 15th round with no problem. Every 2-3 shots i get a stove pipe on all 3 mags .... Using CCI AR Tactical 1200 fps 40 grain, you would think it would be strong enough to cycle that slide to eject and extract that round and chamber a new one ... NOPE
I was able to grab two for $169.99 each. Only complaint was as it gets dirty from shooting. noticed the slide starts to not lock back when empty around after 200 rounds but i was running suppressed and that does make a difference. seems to be just a dirt issue from cheap Ammo. Better Ammo no problem.
Agree it is likely a dirty ammo issue, of course all 22lr runs a little on the dirty side. Also, using the front bushing I could see where it may be more susceptible to slide velocity being impacted by grit and grime. No science behind it just seems likely to me. No real problem, just will need to keep it clean. Thanks for viewing and the comments.
I wondered why you had a picture on your thumbnail of a center-fired bullet with a rim-fired pistol like the KEL-TEC P17 then I realized it was your own symbol/image.
Thank you for the comment. As far as finding a P17, the reality is even in normal times Keltec products can be hard to find. With the current gun buying situation it will be even more difficult. I wish you luck in finding one soon.
@@billsummy2412 Thats what I have to keep telling myself as well... I was lucky to be able to get one as early as I did and feel fortunate I was able to.
From the Kel Tec P17 manual: “Then pull the slide back and SLOWLY follow it forward. It is not recommended that you release the slide on its own force on an empty chamber, as this puts extra stress on the slide and barrel where they contact.” I don’t use the slide release lever to drop the slide with full force on an empty chamber with any firearm.
