First time I drove in Spain was around Bilbao in late September 2018. Got lost on some mountain roads heading towards Mundaka. Best way to see an area! Remember the oil refinery well. It takes you by surprise as you cross the bridge heading West along the A8. Bilbao reminds me a lot of my home city of Sheffield UK. It has the same down to earth feel with an independent artistic element One moment you can be in a heavily industrialised area. The next - beautiful countryside of the Peak District!
