if youre having trouble fretting two strings while wrapping your thumb (the c minor at the ninth fret), you can use index + middle finger on 2nd and 3rd string, ring finger on 4th string 11th fret , and muting 5th string, thumb wrapped on 9th fret 6th string.

Yeah it invites lots of fun. Once you learn the scales and such you realize that's the reason he makes the chords the way he does instead of just doing an actual bar chord. Frees up your hand a bunch. I thought myself how to play by basically just learning a bunch of John Mayer, Jack Johnson and Black Keys. Now I can hang in an improv jam session with just about anyone. I mean, I may noy remember exactly every note that I'm playing, or the name of the scale it's in, but I know the shape of the scale! Lol. Which means I know exactly what sounds good with whatever it is haha. It's a lot of fun, man. I really hope you're still playing and jammin.
