Has anyone offered this gent a beer yet? Being able to learn from your Tutorials is highly appreciated after missing the opportunity to study film. These help so much for the content I want to produce! Never too late to start I suppose! Thanks man!
I have learned so much on this channel in such a short amount of time. There’s no BS, just great content! I am doing a series of videos showcasing our volunteer mountain bike trail maintenance groups work which is mostly men in the woods working with tools. Your videos seem to convey a romantic aspect so are there any techniques to make video less dreamy and more gritty?
Great to hear! really happy they have been helping out! Yeah sure I guess it just depends on how far you want to take it. Maybe think about your colour grade and the mood it gives off. music can take a video in so many different ways too so I would put some effort into selecting the right tracks. I think the contents of the video will have the biggest impact so the footage will speak for itself if it is of gritty things. Hope that helps!
All the shots where in auto focus aside from the last "rack focus" and the reveal shot. Auto focus is amazing and there is no reason to do it manually unless for a specific reason like revealing from foreground. Hope that helps!
Who else just started TH-cam? My eyes are paining cuz of staring at computer screen for hours sorting out useable content from tons of data I shot. Anyway love your videos. ☺️
Hi Sean you produce great content my friend. Thank you. Since these are tutorial style videos it would be great if you would call out the frame rates you are using and the focal lengths of the lenses you are using as well. That would help us inspiring videographers out hugely. Keep up the great work and thank you.
Thanks for the idea! I generally shoot any b roll like the demo clips in 120fps so I can slow them down to 24fps in post. For talking I am always shooting 24fps. Hope that helps!
Absolutely loving how you go into so much depth but also keep these videos interesting you’re incredible at this I’m so happy I found this channel you’re an absolute legend
I know you said a lot that you don't need a gimbal, but is a gimbal something you would recommend over handheld? Sometimes the situation may call for a handheld movement but from my knowledge gimbals seem to always give you that much smoother look.
Ah gimbals are awesome hey! If you are after the super smooth style shots you will love them. Does have its cons though like carrying a big thing around and setting it up but personally I love using them!
A good mix of shots and very in depth explanation around each one. Love that the examples are all from such a cool location. Right now it is raining in LDN and it is such a pleasure to watch your video ^^
Bro this video is gold, your B roll videos are just the best I've seen and makes it seem so much more accessible. Are you using any filters whilst shooting? Big love man
I shoot in Cine 4 but I think its mainly down to nailing your exposure to not blow out the high lights. My LUT is what creates the blue in the skies though :)

Which idea are you going to try next time you shoot?
I’ll try the focus shift. I’ll try with autofocus since I don’t have manual.
Love the wrap around idea!! Thanks for sharing this video Sean!

Amazing shots. Lot to learn from your videos. Became your fan instantly.
Great Video. Are you manually focusing? You should do a video on focusing. Thanks
Yes, would be great to get more Tipps how to focus on certain scenes and about the gimbal settings
All the shots where in auto focus aside from the last "rack focus" and the reveal shot.
Auto focus is amazing and there is no reason to do it manually unless for a specific reason like revealing from foreground. Hope that helps!

Good b'roll it's nice content, i'm still studiying. From Madura island Indonesia
What are your settings in the first rolling shot to get that dynamic range with blue skies and subject well lid in a forest environment?
I shoot in Cine 4 but I think its mainly down to nailing your exposure to not blow out the high lights. My LUT is what creates the blue in the skies though :)
Sean Kitching I guess the LOG lets you recover shadows easily 🤗 Thanks for the answer
