Spinning, sewin, embroidery, knitting, crochet, so much more - it really helps me regulate and lifts my mood :) Thanks for this (so far) amazing video! Makes my day brighter too ^^
Cleaning and reorganizing my workroom, drinking hot tea, go for a walk with my dog, taking naps, cry in the shower, knit socks, watching documentaries on TH-cam, reading my Bible and learning that better times are ahead 😉
My daughter moved far away just before the holidays. I took the experiment yarn I spun on TDF and started about as mindless of a knit I could think of, a raglan sleeve cardigan. So I go back to knitting or crochet when I am down. Now if this knit would ever end I could get started on my unflattering cabled sweater that the yarn has been waiting on me for a year now. Have you tried spinning long draw yet?
This is the kind of sweater we call “een trui om je adres in te verzetten” as we say in my family. In other words: a sweater to crawl into and that gives you a comforting hug. An emotional comfort sweater. Loosely translated for the non-Dutch/Flemish: “a sweater to set up residence in”. You don’t wear it to flatter your figure (I think it’s beautiful). You wear it because it feels so good. Everyone needs a sweater like that. The size and pattern don’t matter, it varies for every one of us. What matters is how it feels when we wear it. And for us spinners/knitters/crocheters, how it feels when we make it. Because that feeds into the association when we crawl into it for the comfort it gives.
@@MijnWolden - It’s more from The Netherlands, I’ve heard it being used in the area around Rotterdam. Although I’ve heard it being used around Ghent as well.
I was so happy to hear Atomic Shrimp get the first mention. I don't even remember how I got into him but he seems like the kind of chill, wholesome guy you'd want to share a cup of tea with.
Great point! Of plants hold the nutrients from soil and sunshine why not wool? It’s just concentrated plants and sunshine processed through roving fluffy clouds.
What helps me is a good deep dive into all of my creative stuff: painting, spinning, knitting, drawing, kalligraphy, writing (oh yes, writing!) and a lot of other things that have to do with color, wool, ink, paper, beads, fabric, needles, embroidery yarn and more. If hands and head need rest, reading and drinking liters of tea close to my fireplace do the trick. Love your cozy cuddly sweater! Concerning patters: they‘re merely loose guidelines anyway. Thank you for this present of an extra long video!
Such a cool idea to mention some smaller youtubers! I have some of my own: Yarn Waffle Podcast makes very slow relaxing spinning/knitting/cat shenanigan-vlogs, and Cheyenne Barton is an artist who makes very gentle video's full of creativity. Cheyenne was the person I went to to calm down during a very stressful time in my life. Oh, and if you're into books, I love Allyvee as well! Also yes, I do want to become a sheep when I grow up.
has anyone mentioned that raw wool is rich with vitamin D? The lanolin content is where vitamin D is commercially extracted. so, by spinning in the grease you are giving skin absorption contact to that vitamin D. literally good for mental health in all the ways. ps, you are adorable.
I love you and I love WoolToGold. Permission to embrace the chaos that brings me joy has been so liberating. Thank you for sharing yourself with the world.
I've realized that going outside, most importantly, WHILE it's daylight, for at least half an hour, is a key part of keeping my head screwed on straight. Knitting is part of my way of dealing with anxiety though, because it gives my hands something to do and my mind something to focus on that's not whatever's freaking me out. Spinning is for relaxing for me. My typically spinning is no think, only hands.
I love everything you’re doing! I am so glad I’m not the only one that loves greasy Wool. When I’m feeling depressed in the winter, I have found that counting my blessings can help to lift my spirit.
Hi Jente, I hope you're OK xx ❣️❣️❣️❣️ I hope you and Dries had a Wonderful Christmas Day 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎁🎁🎁 I think you did a Wonderful job spinning a Super Bulky Yarn. Your Handspun Yarn looks amazing and so squishy. I love your Sweater, I really like the "fish" symbol on the front 🌟🌟 I don't like long sleeves very much either. I've been knitting a Shawl , I've used commercial yarn that I've had in my stash for quite some time. It has an Eyelet Border of which I'm knitting using my Handspun Yarn that I spun especially.. I hope 2024 brings you everything you want and need. Happy Spinning and Knitting Sweet Fibre Friend 🎡🎉🐑🥰🥰 Take care and stay safe. Lots of love, Blessings and Big Hugs to you and Dries..Jen xxxx ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🫂🫂🫂🫂🐕
The finished sweater turned out SO CUTE oh my gosh!! I also adore the cropped sleeves, it adds such fun shape to the garment! You're definitely one of my serotonin-tubers 🥰 I hope you're having a lovely holiday season 🎄
When Im having a rough time I want nothing more than to slosh around in water. I usually end up dying; I keep premordanted fabric and old clothing (and some wool and yarn if I have some in white) on hand so I can throw it in a tub when ever.
Hi from Australia, I love your videos, you are so much fun to watch, and are a very talented young lady. You have encouraged me to get back to spinning and knitting. I love all your hand knitted jumpers you wear and your 'style'. Are you able to tell me what pattern you used for the jumper you are wearing at 22.08 minutes ( the section in front of your Christmas tree) of this video, please? It is particularly gorgeous! I would love it if you tell us what patterns you are wearing in your videos sometimes. I, too, LOVE the smell of raw wool, (sheep), and as a little girl I used to stay on my uncle's farm who had a shearing shed. After the shearer's left each year, my cousin and I would go in there, and if I found a greasy lock of wool, to feel and take home, I was extremely happy!! 😊 Keep up your great work and may God Bless you every day. ✝️💖🧶💖✝️
I didn't use a pattern for that one I guess... It was from some colourwork charts I found on Pinterest... Next Wednesday's video is an overview of everything I made this year with an extensive pattern list!
Hi Jente, you look lovely as a sheep! Luckely I don't have serious moodswings or depressions. But when I am tired or need to wind down I always go spinning or knitting. Everything is better when crafting. I really enjoyed your video and the lovely 'hug' you created.
Oh this looks so nice and comfortable and cute. I love chunky cabled sweaters so much haha Also I feel you on the bulky yarn. With thin I can be Relatively consistent, but getting a regular thick yarn has been my nemesis and aspiration for a while. (For your question, I did finally receive some batts that were supposed to be for my birthday, but now they'll count as my present to myself for Christmas)
The result is so cute (like you)!! I was wondering if you could spin thicker yarn on your spinning wheels so I was excited to see this! My hands aren't steady enough for fine yarn, 4mm is about as small as I can go. I don't think I'll do it any time soon but maybe one day I can spin my own yarn. I didn't watch your videos for a while though I have no idea why, but coming back they have the same wonderfully warm feeling I remember. 💖
Good to know I'm not the only one who knits shorter sleeves XD being a crafty wheelchair user long sleeves are just a pain in the arse. And why bother making stuff if you're not making it the way you like it.
Hey there! I know this isn’t the video I’m asking about, but how did you get blue when dyeing with cotinus? You plucked the leaves in May/June, right? Alum mordant? Any modifiers? Anything else? Heat? I’m determined this year! Thanks!
What helps you the most on difficult days?

Ooh, I bet that kind of yarn would be delightful for making a blanket. Would use up a lot of wool, too, lol. Now I want to make funky bulky yarns!
I've been thinking the same. It would also be quite heavy, so it's immediately a weighted blanket as Well...
A facsimile of the LOTR script? Now I'm jealous! 😮
