One of my favorites were the first NATO mission in France. Not so intense story-wise but tough as nails, plus you had lots of fun toys to play around with at the same time. Really enjoy watching these.
Everybody forgive me for being late to this party. What I'm going to say is in no way an attempt to put a damper on any of these games INSTEAD AS A COLD WAR VETERAN IT IS MEANT TO BE A GREAT BIG THANK YOU AND SIGH OF RELIEF TJAT THIS PAST DID NOT HAPPEN. THOSE HERE who are to young to remember any of that time period ARE TRUELY BLESSED. You have to opportunity to play a game about a war that ALOT of us trained for day in and day out for yrs and even decades. I'm a veteran, served from late 70s to early 90s. I TRUELY ENJOY WATCHING THESE MODERN COMBAT STRATEGY GAMES. FOR ME this just let's me kind of know how brutal the cold war COULD HAVE GOTTEN. It was always on a lot is soldiers' minds as to how and when the big war would start. It was evermore in the back of my mind. It's pretty cool to watch what I had always wondered could happen. I SALUTE THE MAKERS OF THESE GAMES. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK., and ignore my ramblings. Just that I like to enjoy watching an alternate past that I didn't have to end up living thru.
The game that got me into RTS. Great story, fun gameplay, even the scenery and graphics are superb. Ever noticed how the sky becomes darker as the battle goes on?
Good job blowing up the bridge that I use everyday Raptor, guess now I'll have to take a huge detour and use the SR 520 to get to commie Seattle downtown. Thank heaven that I live a few blocks away from the map or else my house is gonna get blown to pieces real good isn't it...
+The 51st Division It might end up getting smoked anyway mate...the commies ain't messing around. Lease you're lucky its this far out, my house is within sight-line of the Sound...I'd probably have paratroopers landing in my back yard.
Battle of Pine Valley was my favorite mission. There is nothing like holding back endless hordes of Soviets, only for the USS Missouri to come in and let you obliterate everything.
Just a little remark.. it wouldn't be KGB but GRU. I know in James Bond movies it's always KGB, but they were actually a "political police" mainly focused on domestic surveillance. I say mainly, because they did have detachments working on foreign soil, but GRU, the military intelligence, was the main espionage organisation outside of the Soviet union when it came to collect information about military targets and forces.
You not what i'm trying to figure out is you the know way the civilians fled across, in that direction soviet forces are rolling from as well, so does that mean you helped civilians escape from Seattle only to flee into the hands of more soviet troops. because the soviets attack the bridge from both directions that means the civilians fled right into soviet units.
I remember this game. I played it many years ago. It's a really good game with a good storyline. Calling in air support and artillery support was really fun in this game. Especially once you get access to the bigger weapons.
@@cristobalalvarez5491 Yes actually. I did some searching and found that you can buy a digital copy on G2A(dot)com which you can activate through Uplay. It's up to you if you want to trust G2A though. I can't say i have much experience with G2A. Your second option is to look for a physical disc on amazon or ebay. They might be rare though. Third option, you could directly contact Ubisoft and ask them if it's possible to buy it from them somehow. Maybe they can help, maybe not. Give it a try.
Anyone notice the direction the civilians flee is also after the briefing cutscene with sawyer where soviets troops are coming from, so does that mean you the civilians fleeing from the soviets just ran into more soviets down the road and where captured or kill anyway, or was that just a soviet amphibious crossing force only.
all BANNON ever does is scream his lungs about the enemies numbers. he always fails his objectives or is to slow to reach them I'm sure he only escaped the fall of Seattle by pushing elderly people out of the way.
that soviet car took 2 tows and only lost half of his health because the soviets use a new tipe of metal called STALINIUM made specialy from comerad stalins blod merged with uranium and 4 inch thick metal
for me the death of bannon is one of the best part in the game even though bannon always fucks up he redeemed himself during the battle of cascade falls
Raptor instead using aircraft bombing runs on the VDV position you can use artillery instead those VDV will have 15 or 20 minutes before they were done briefing and ready to attack just use artillery one with medium ot short cost to make short worl instead *A Pricy Aircraft Bomb Rund to waste your Support Points*
xD Sorry raptor.Im buying this. But during this mission especially had me screaming at you from the screen since you kinda ignored most of your units defending the hospital. And During the arty attack you had to support bannon,You ignored an entire road. But i'll still watch,Because your plays are good. And more then worth watching. ^^
+busted2131 Its Okay, maybe Its true. Maybe not. But for this video I want just congratulate Raptor, I like this video because I think Its a good player. I don't want to offend anyone.
+Furiandin French soldiers are well disciplined and trained there officers are what let them down in ww2. remember if it weren't for the French holding the Germans at bay while the British where dunkirking British loses would be even worse,
So I'm curious, is this set in an alternate reality where nuclear weapons don't exist? At this point (Russians rolling across Europe and in Seattle) wouldn't the US of just fired the their missiles?
The world's militaries are at the ready for a conventional war at any time. A massed ground assault won't mean you'd send in an all-out nuclear strike against the enemy. Speaking of, the 80's were an interesting decade of military doctrine and technology. I suggest you check it out. Anyways as I was saying, of course, there certainly could be a massive nuclear attack or the usage of battlefield tactical nuclear weapons in such situations as someone else said here.
***** I get that, but at this point not only has there been major direct confrontation between the superpowers for several months across Europe but now the Soviets are literally rolling down American streets. Given how the game has already acknowledged how utterly incapable the US at this point is to meet this assault head on it seems their biggest asset and what seems to be their only hope is their nuclear arsenal. But, as what was said before, the game explains this later on, so I'm waiting for that.
I do not like that in the this datadisk has no independent campaign, as in CNC Generals ZH was. It's a shame it is necessary to go through all the missions again when player finished original WIC.
This game seems to ignore military command structure totally. A colonel commanding the defense of an entire state? What about the National Guard? Why is an active duty colonel in charge of a collaboration between different services and branch components? Shit doesnt make sense.
+Bill FukinMurry No one ever said Col. Sawyer was in command of everything. He is just commanding his what i am guessing is either a battalion or considering the variety of units Brigade. Re: the national guards men mike and anton. they sort of got scooped up into a regular army unit during the initial attack in Seattle. if you watch that mission you see them talking to bannon about they were trying to get to their unit and Bannon just tells them to grab a weapon and fight. As chaotic a situation as all that i'm pretty sure it would take a while before there'd be any chance of them taking the time to just send those 2 back to their guard unit. I guess a simpler way to put it would be to think of the airborne miss-drops on D-day and how the Airborne units created mixed units of just whoever they could find until things settled down enough to sort things out
+Bill FukinMurry Sawyer answers to higher command. The campaign shows (or implies) him receiving orders from higher up multiple times. His unit seems to be given responsibility for the more important missions during the war for Seattle.
+Spooky804 Have you played this game before? Parker, Bannon and Sawyer are all main characters in this loosely put together story. Sawyer should technically be in charge of a brigade, but he often gives orders to parker who is a platoon CO. That doesnt make sense because it completely skips all the command structures in between parker and sawyer and focuses only on their interpersonal relationship, which is what this damn story is about. At 0:57 you can see the president being told that the resistance is being headed by Sawyer, so why is Sawyer who is commanding thousands of troops, giving tactical direction to parker when there is such a large front to fight the war on. Games like this give off so many romanticized misconceptions about the military that you can be a hero, but its much more rigid and gritty than you think. Then dumbasses eat it up and accept it for near reality because its whats left the biggest impression on them and the closest experience to the actual thing that they have had. Additionally, you can't freely float between active duty and national guard like you're going from part time to full time at your job, it just doesnt work like that. National Guard is state controlled while the full time active duty military (what parker and sawyer are part of) is controlled federally. Its takes a lot of time to move back and forth between both levels of government, particularly on the military end. Each state has at least a Maj General commanding their states national guard component so all national guard units within a state report directly to him first. He/she stays within the state so it doesnt make sense that any national guard units in the area are being directed to a lower ranking colonel that happens to show up out of fucking nowhere. In the cases where national guard units are deployed oversees, they can be attached to active duty units, but its a transition that takes some time. The invasion of D-Day was an operation run by the active component of the military. The airborne portion of it was between two light infantry divisions that fulfill a similar mission so going between one another made sense because of the common ground. With this invasion, which is defensive not offensive, you have active and national guard components intermixing freely. As I stated above, you cant jump command of national guard units and put some john wayne hot shot colonel in charge of tens of thousands of troops. Furthermore, when national guard units muster, they muster at their armory or designated bases where they all meet together before moving out. National Guard soldiers dont have their full battle rattles inside their houses waiting for a red invasion. If they were all geared up and had their APCs ready, then they all should have been working together....which they all did within an hour or so of the invasion which also doesnt make sense.
Cause it is a American, western European audience, but the game does give NATO a few missions and in the expansion there is a cool soviet story as well.
One of my favorites were the first NATO mission in France. Not so intense story-wise but tough as nails, plus you had lots of fun toys to play around with at the same time.

So the KGB was the soviet version of the NSA and the GRU was their version of the CIA
Favorite mission here is the one where Bannon finally puts on his big boy pants (and then... the big bomb :)
Yeah. For all the shit Bannon pulled... he definitely made up for it.

I think that’s the point, he’s a fuck up, so when he finally decides “Fuck I’ve fucked up, it’s time to do good”
Please keep it up. This is great nostalgia

Panzer Commander that's what tactical nukes are for. Small yield weapons designed to be used tactically in conjunction with ground forces
