Yeah makes me feel as if he mentioned that just because it's cheaper, not actually having compared the headsets. Other reviewers have praised the sharpness of the display compared to the rift and vive. Makes this whole review rather suspect tbh.
3dof should have died with the dk1 and the cardboard/plastic headsets for 3dof phones ......what the Go can do is fix head position just looking around with gearvr apps.....without full 6dof tracking u don't get a real vr experience .......and now 3dof will die when they update the Go with a cheap sd835 equivalent and they add 2 cheap cameras ......basically the Lenovo mirage solo is the next gen Go
tsy1992 gear vr has always had this pixel density or greater if the phone display is a bit smaller and u wouldn't say that gearvr is better than desktop full vr..... also the rift has higher refresh rate as far as the resolution yes it's better but tracking is the important part... google 3dof vs 6dof if u r not familiar with that
pumpuppthevolume dude you are missing my point. Of course the tracking is better on the higher end models. I'm only refering to what Beau said about noticing a 'worse difference in resolution' coming from the oculus rift. Read my comment and listen to what he says again.
I find the 32 big one to be sufficient. If you intended to be balls deep in games and movies (I think not due to the 1.5 hour battery) then get the 64gig one... and people complained about the Switche’s 5 hour battery... geez.
I have been using mine all day and can say I get about 2-3 hours of video playback. Gaming drops the battery to 1.5-2 hours. And yeah, the switch looks like a battery king next to this. The weight feels good, I'm sure a bigger battery would start to make it too front heavy tho.
I got mine today and the screen door effect is significantly less noticeable than my HTC vive, Day Dream VR, and Gear VR. The tech to make what's in your focus crisper and making your peripheral vision less sharp is pretty cool. I hope others adopt this strategy.
@michael Cianciulli If I may ask for your daydream do you use a google pixel 2 xl or regular google pixel 2? I have the second gen daydream vr with my reg size google pixel but the screendoor effect is very noticable wondering if you have any input on comparison for the oculus go and daydream using a reg google pixel 2?
Old comment but you don't have to "focus your view." It is already in focus. The closest thing to focusing your view would be setting the correct ipd, but this headset is designed to be comfortable to a large range of interpupillary distances.
without 6dof it's not really a vr headset ...it's a demo similar to a vr headset :P and yes people will enjoy that demo just fine....unfortunately 3dof didn't die with the dk1 and cardboard/plastic headsets for 3dof phones .....but will die with the second gen Go which will be very similar to the Lenovo Solo but a bit cheaper
Speediskey385 no just for the initial startup with linking the account. After that all you need is Wi-Fi and you can buy everything inside of the headset. I own a oculus rift and I still really love the Go. It’s awesome.
No. It's for setup. If you have ever used a Rift, you need to look at what your doing during setup, so it's on you PC screen. On your phone it's the same, except no connection setup
@PhoneDog - Do you know **why** it's $200? If you bought a low priced cellphone with an 821 Processor it would cost over $300 -- LeEco Le Pro3 $299, Xiaomi Mi 5s $399, or Lenovo ZUK Edge $330 but those have a *1080P* display. You might pick up an HTC Ultra U for under $350, that's the only way to get such a large display. So Samsung Gear VR + $300 phone is $500, *why* is the Go only *$200* ? Is every APP paid for? or is the Gear VR simply $150 too expensive ...
LowLightVideos Not every app is paid. But almost literally ALMOST all apps are paid. There are deals every now and then where you can get some paid apps for FREE. The store and apps are literally the same as Gear VR
Yogesh Manghnani - They might not be _exactly_ the same. Doing a quick check there's a 100 free APPs in the "Oculus Store", probably about the same number at the "Samsung Store", along with some discounts, and GVR users (because they have Android) get the "Google Play Store" (and Sideloads). Some reviews have described the Go as heavy and inexpensive plastic construction, while I wouldn't exactly call the GVR premium and lightweight I wouldn't call it heavy and cheap either ... Probably the GVR is overpriced, at least upgrading the display and CPU/GPU will certainly be easier than trying that with the Go. Still the Go is an excellent price, especially compared to the alternatives.
I just got mine and after owning multiple gear vr's and the dream vr the oculus go's display alone makes it better than both those options. I also own a vive and outside of playing room scale apps I would choose the Go over that for content consumption and lower performing games as well.
Sorry but i'm not going to spend 100$ on a phone free device JUST to have to buy a fucking phone along with all the games for it. Fuck ALL of that shit.
First of all it's only to set it up so like logging in and connection for wifi and phone or tablet can do this after setup u can even throw a way the phone it won't affect the device
Just watching people unboxing the oculus go makes me so excited
Is that a Xiaomi logo on the side?
Jacob Hill yep, collaboration between xiaomi and facebook
Yes
enjoying mine so far
What $800 oculus rift headset are you referring to lol
Reece Beau ikr it’s $400
R/wooosh 🙄
$400
Hyperbole
It used to be $800 when the touch controllers first came out.
The headset and the controllers together costed $800.
Does this work with a apple iPad I really need to know
Yes
Yes
I don't get why you say it's harder to overlook coming from the higher end oculus rift, when this has a higher resolution.
Yeah makes me feel as if he mentioned that just because it's cheaper, not actually having compared the headsets. Other reviewers have praised the sharpness of the display compared to the rift and vive. Makes this whole review rather suspect tbh.

pumpuppthevolume I have no idea what you're saying. But I'm talking about the resolutions, not difference in tracking
tsy1992 gear vr has always had this pixel density or greater if the phone display is a bit smaller and u wouldn't say that gearvr is better than desktop full vr..... also the rift has higher refresh rate

It has HDMI?
EverSpartan no

Can i use continue 3 hours
What about the screen door effect? Compare with gear vr!

Holy-Macrol! A HEADPHONE JACK!!!!
iphone users are shaking right now
does it work on mac tho
Why there is a MI logo
No one is addressing the lack of a viewing adjustment wheel as in the Samsung Gear VR. Please explain how you focus your view.
Old comment but you don't have to "focus your view." It is already in focus. The closest thing to focusing your view would be setting the correct ipd, but this headset is designed to be comfortable to a large range of interpupillary distances.
ugh micro usb in 2018 makes me sad
Wow
If you can do VR Chat with this then it may be worth getting ^^
u can do gearvr apps ....u don't have real full tracking of the headset
pumpuppthevolume you don’t need full tracking to play be chat. Heck, you don’t even need a VR headset to play be chat
without 6dof it's not really a vr headset ...it's a demo similar to a vr headset :P
and yes people will enjoy that demo just fine....unfortunately 3dof didn't die with the dk1 and cardboard/plastic headsets for 3dof phones .....but will die with the second gen Go which will be very similar to the Lenovo Solo but a bit cheaper

Jesus E not sure what the code was but I think that it's over now. I found it on Slickdeals
Why do you have to be so skeptical
Can I hook it up to a Windows PC?
Piotr Breda sadly no ;( its more of a media headset
Yes, but it costs an extra $200.
Do you need a phone to get games?
Speediskey385 no just for the initial startup with linking the account. After that all you need is Wi-Fi and you can buy everything inside of the headset. I own a oculus rift and I still really love the Go. It’s awesome.

are all games free
No dumbass
If it's a $100, then it would be a nobrainer.
at times it can be blurry why?
You need to use the cleaning cloth dumbo

What the hell is a $800 rift?
Maybe in other universes. I'm not sure. Or maybe he's insane
It's a VR headset but requires a gaming PC all the time
