Really like Daniel Romano different approach of making different style of albums from country to dylan, 70s sound, and 70s punk , but to be honest his last albums and shows aren't that good especially with the outfits...also this sounds more like an ancient shapes song...seems like his different acts are turning against him. Hope he goes back to basic. Just him with an acoustic guitar making good songs and singing them not that nasally
I totally agree with you. I like to think he will come back around to what he did best. I think he knows what he does best. The true and honest stuff he grew up with. At least I hope he will return to it.
Have you seen the Outfit live? The lineup with Julianna and Carson is the best live band I've ever seen. Three part harmonies on Daniel's catalog, tending toward harder, faster rock? Nobody is doing that. I love the edge of the Ancient Shapes material, too. There's a time and a place for everything, right? Now is the time for this.

let him express himself and collaborate, it’s great! people just get stuck wanting more of what they already like and he isn’t afraid to branch out
