I still get confused when people say AFL is soft 😂😅 Even as a kid too an adult playing marks up. You can hear and feel your bones cracking when your playing with 8 big lads 😂
Its like theres a new rule everyday. Ppl always blame the umps for poor decisions costing their team a game, but in all honesty, its like touch footy nowadays
Most of these hits are shoulder chargers which are banned in rugby union, basically because they are considered not playing the ball. In AFL there's this insane notion if you bump a guy near the ball it's ok. I use to play this sport but I think it's gutless cause you're not going for the ball but the man all along. Your supposed to tackle the player for the ball. Often the guy who gets knocked out is doing the right thing, trying to play the ball not the man. The problem with the modern game is it's too fast now and really dangerous as bodies are slamming into each other from unknown directions at high speed. They should have banned bumps, shoulder charges years ago. It's lazy players trying to be enforcers which is giving these guys permanent brain injuries like CTE. The AFL is not protecting their players.
They pretty much are banning the bump. The onus is on the player now, if you bump and get the player high. Even if they are fine you will be suspended. They’re doing their best to change it but it’s very ingrained in the sport that most fans won’t let the bump go
The bump is more about bracing and protecting yourself in a collision. If the bump is late or high it’s no good but if both players are going for the ball then the main thing is protecting yourself from the contact, problem these days is that players don’t know how to execute it properly
@@off1k I think he means all of these hits in 2022 - 2024 would be free kicks + reported instantly. The game still had a lot of biff coming out of the 2010s, i agree with the rule changes though, too many concussions retiring guys at 30 is not good for the future of the game, especially when the game is played so much faster now than previous eras.
@@megacheese Many (49 of 72) of the hits/collisions in this video are still legal today. Some of the 49 (about 5 or 6) legal hits were incorrectly umpired as in they blew the whistle when they shouldn't have. There's also a few 50/50 line ball collisions. There really hasn't been many rule changes regarding hits/bumps/collisions in the past 15 or so years, maybe none. Head high contact laws hasn't changed for quite some time, not all head high contact is a free and many are not suspensions. The biggest difference between hits/collisions today compared to decades ago is the AFL has cleaned up the flying elbows and deliberate head hunters. this is something you don't much in the AFL now, which is good, too many snipers in the past, especially 80's and 90's. Tackling on the other hand, there's been a number of changes.
God it’s insane that Cripps got off for that hit on Ah Chee and then won the Brownlow
favour the guns mate, always have
It’s disgusting. Cripps will get a free paid his way almost every time
Start issuing suspensions against teammates, ya soaking, frurry
Some good hard and fair hip and shoulders, some nasty head clashes, and one or two downright dog acts.
9:03 Right in the bread basket 😂😂😂
Jimmy Webster: allow me to introduce myself
Lmao 😭

It’s the brain dead rugby fans that say that, they can’t handle that their sport is inferior in every way
Great video mate
It's an absolute disgrace that Willie Rioli got off for that hit on Rowell.
and the hit by Cripps should’ve been a week but them lawyers did a miracle and got him a Brownlow lol
Even more disgraceful pickett got 2. shouldve been 4+
Rowell was running back with the flight. Rioli was running the other way. Should he give Rowell an escort?
and yet again another ripper of a video from punkspike
Don’t watch the game anymore, been ruined by rule changes. Some might like it now, but it’s no longer the same game 🤷🏻

If you want hard hits put on biffs bumps and brawlers, trust me it’s the most funniest yet dangerous hits I’ve ever seen.

90% of these players are going to have CTE
gyatttttt
and they call pickett a snipe when old mate cripps does the same stuff!!!
pickett is a sniper just own it
When AFL was fun to watch.
Alot softer now
Eh???
all these hits are from the last 7 years, they're all modern hits.
