    I am new to HF and bought an IC-7300 and Ham Radio Deluxe but the digital modes befuddled me. I can get the radio and software talking but when I was trying to find a signal and decode it, I got really frustrated. Your video helped make sense out of the chaos. I feel you gave me a magic key to unlock the digital modes. Thank you very much. Whoo hoo!

    Just configured my 857d and Signalink on fldigi after much tinkering. Came across your video after wanting to learn the communication protocol I could use communicate. Your video was very interesting and I'm glad I came across it because I have been trying my best to identify signals all of which are new to me.

    Think you. I was very active on PSK31 when it first arrived, but have been not very active since then. Just loaded fldigi onto Ubuntu linux. Totally confused by some of the signals I was hearing and had very little luck going through the modes to try and lock up. Learning about the RXID should be very helpful. Thanks to you and thanks to the folks developing this software. Great job.

      My pleasure Joe. The latest version of FLDIGI includes the TX-RSID command within the existing CQ macros so there's no need to turn it on. The receiving station still needs to enable the RX-RSID though.

    Excellent video. Note: when band conditions are marginal, it is often the case where a transmitted signal does not show up well on the receiver-side of the QSO. If the video ID is used, it would be difficult under such marginal conditions to figure things out, since the signal was not well defined on the waterfall. Instead, using RSID, the chances for detection are higher. Looking to meet you on the bands... I love Olivia.

    Hi Tony - I recently joined the MultiPSK Yahoo group, and I want to thank you for mentioning this video. You did a great job here, and it's valuable information for anyone exploring the digital modes. 73, Jack

    Very helpful video especially the mode detector with ability to switch over for a contact. I was not aware of this but knew someday it would happen. Thanks!

    Nice job! Very clear descriptions of a frequently confusing issue. The digi modes are great fun if you can figure out what the other person is using! Thanks! Ron WB0SOK

    I have only been using HRD for these digital modes not covered by WSJT-X. I didn't know how FlDIGI or Multipsk worked. They seem like they have more features than HRD, but I will stay with HRD since it is a fully integrated package, albiet there is a cost for the software. Thanks for your efforts putting this video together. 73

    This is cool. Any tips on identifying types when the operators don't use this feature?

    How long until Happy Faces 🙂 and middle fingers [redacted] become common on the voice sub-bands ?

    What mode sounds like a mowped [motorcycle] changing gears, sometimes preceded by a couple of tones?

    My version of FLDIGI doesn't have the RSID, or Video option, just CW. The Windows version.

    We did you go to download the "reader" software??

    • @sandydiesel

      Reader software?

    • @RobSipes
      @RobSipes 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You probably mean the software to encode/decode the different digital modes. It's called FLDIGI, and can be found here: sourceforge.net/projects/fldigi/files/fldigi/
      Download the .exe for windows or the proper .dmg file for linux/mac.
