Hi Jenny, I have recently subscribed to your channel, since discovering you upon my return to the hobby, I have recently comeback after a longtiome away so am playing massive catch up. I really enjoyed your Hatton's interview which was very informative and reinfiorces why we should support our local traders as well as the big guys.. Anyway reason for messaging you was hat having seen your review of TMC's exclusive Heljan class 45 models, I bought D11 and out of the box it looks gorgeous, and based on the quality of the weathering, I have ordered a Hornby Tyne dock 9F with deluxe weathering, coal amnd crew to go with my KR models iron ore wagons. I am al;so going to snd it to TS trains as Kyles "smoke" system is awesome. Am really enjoying your content and would put you up there with Charlie and NScaler 454 for really helpful subject matter and hobby matters. I hope you are feeling better as you have been pretty rough on the last few videos so i hope you have had a proper rest since yersterday.. I will be on next weels Monday club as well. PS have ordered your book Bringing Home the stars, if I get on well with it, do you have a discography so I can read your books in the correct order ? Many thnaks again Mark
If you order a weathered version, please ask TMC to fit the four sand boxes on the inside ends of the bogies, before weathering. The prototypes of all four models had the boxes installed in the liveries offered.
Very nice looking locomotives but I think above all else this shows the TMC weathering in its best light . It really does look superb and enhances these locomotives . However the Elephant in the room really is not addressed and that is that there is something wrong with the roof line. That I think makes these locomotives more slab sided than their equivalent Bachmann ones . You can see that by looking at the cab doors , they should be curved at the top and they aren’t on this model . The other issue is the shade of blue on these locomotives which is far too dark . This is actually brought out when you see the loco running with the 43 Warship in the background . The Warship is much lighter .
The weathering is superb as always from TMC, but the blue paint from Heljan is the wrong shade (too dark) and too flat. It’s a shame that the blue is wrong, as weathering won’t fix that. Richard at Everard Junction has released a video repainting his and it looks much more prototypical.
I know of one guy who has repainted his with the correct color and performed brilliant weathering particulary to the roof and sides. The front section he applied rust and stone chip effect. Absolutely brilliant. The other issues are the the fan where one can see everything inside. This guy fitted a piece of black plastic underneath the fan. The has been comments about the head of the door is wrong and the shape of the glazing is wrong compared to the real loco. Maybe picky but the main issue here is the color and this is very bad. Other than that its a fine model.
From the time I worked on the railway in the late 60s, I remember that the blue colour could vary as different locomotives returned to service from the works. The paint was not always of very good quality and did not weather well, losing its sheen and becoming lighter, so I might not be too fussy about the precise shade!
Hi, an interesting variant on the Class 45. I'm looking at installing the Leggomanbiffo sounds in my Heljan 45, so I was interested to hear these locos going round Wear Yard, I could have listened to them for a bit longer really............Anyway thanks and all the best Dave.

Aaargh! Now I can't decide between Heljan and Bachmann! Help please??? By the way, I like the use of the correct pronunciation of Heljan.
I notice that blue is wrong and is too dark to one of the locos.
TMC always do such a good job with their weathering. All it needs now is a trip to TRS....
