He may also have just been referring to the fact that it is basically a completely different product, like not that it ruined the brand name by being bad but by being confusingly different.
There's something about Linus unboxing a case in a public park with jet engines going off in the background and phones ringing in the middle of the video that just feels right...
I am still rocking the red lanboy air in 2020! Phenom II X6 1090T Black and Crosshair IV Formula just trying its best while I start to replace this good decade-long rig. Thank you Linus for such a solid setup suggestion from back in 2010!
I've got to admit, that hard drive mounting solution is pretty sweet. I had to do something similar in my Corsair Vengeance C70 because the HDD cages were vibrating like crazy every time I used my hard drive
Is that really how front USB 3.0 was configured initially? You just run the cable out the back of your case and plug it in? That's such a ghetto solution!
I have a LanBoy Air, can confirm you just run the cable out back. It's probably to retain backwards compatibility with mobos that didn't have internal USB 3.0 headers so you could use it as a standard USB 2.0 port if necessary.
I may invest in one of these down the road for my nephew. He likes flashy colors and LEDs, and I know he'd love this case design overall. As for me, I'm still perfectly content with my Fractal I've got. I'm actually ordering a Silverstone TJ07 in the next few weeks. What can I say? Linus has a great build. When I saw his chassis, I couldn't help but want one.
This is my actual case i bought my junior year of high school. Having it for 4 years definitely had it's ups and downs. Like for one you can't have an all in one liquid cooling setup unless you cut holes in the top plastic... Which i did.... But as an over all case its really nice, i've gotten several complements on it. Also fits a 980ti hybrid pretty nice.
"Mac hands" - priceless. I like blue version that came out, better then yellow. They need to make acid green, and cover it in UV paint. I'd totally be on mushrooms, firing up the blacklight in the room, watching this case glow. Ooo-o-o-o-oh!
This case is my baby. It has follow me through three builds and tons of changes to the fans and case. The temps are ridiculously low. Like I've had other cases where I hit a thermal ceiling but this case just gobbles air. The Hard Drive mounts rock because they're on 2 bungees and they're completely silent. The case, however, is NOT. I can hear my 680 SLI screaming when I ramp up the fans. Personally it doesn't bother me because during gaming it's drowned out anyways. Fantastic case for me.
@jackburton2009 I agree completely. The real name of the case should be LANboy Dust. Every single fan is going to have a layer of dust in the mesh grille in front of it. And let's not forget about rust -- here in the heat and humidity of Hawaii, computer case mesh == case deterioration / rust. I speak as a person who owns 2 Antec 900s and 1 Antec 300.
Antec Super LanBoy was my first all aluminium case! Still have and still love it! Antec has some really nice products. ( gotta lova the MINI P180 all black! )
My dad got me this case for Christmas!!(he ordered it on my newegg account and I got the order confirmation email:P) it's so amazing! Id recommend it to ANYONE!(:
For everyone complaining about dust collecting, all the mesh allows flow to nearly every nook and cranny. Just grab it by the handles , carry it outside and spray a can of air all over it. Dust gone.
@bigtaker Good question, this case doesn't support eATX mobos so i'm pretty sure modding it to take the SR-2 wouldn`t be an easy task. I'd use one of the supported cases like the Lian Li PC-P80.
I bought one of these in blue back in 2011 I think. yes it does get dusty on the outside where the fans are, but it's not too bad. I didn't add any fans to it. I didn't realize just how much bigger this case is over a conventional case. I had to modify my desk at the time to fit it where the computer is supposed to go. I have a 2600 quad core and a gtx 570 in it and boy does this baby kick out the heat when playing games. I stopped using it back in 2013 or so, and switched to laptops as they are good enough for me now as I don't really game anymore. so it just sits next to my desk and reminds me of when I used to do all of my own builds and how I probably will not ever be there again. just too hard to beat the current laptops and without gaming anymore there is no need to have a desk top computer anymore. love the case though.
Dude, FW is the main connection used for MiniDV transfer. Granted technology is moving away from MiniDV, but millions of units were sold and are still being sold that use MiniDV, and therefor FW. You simply don't reside in circles of people that use it, so you don't think it's widely used.
why dont you have all the fans but the one lonely fan on the back as flowing in then it will be slightly more effective because its not depending on other fans pushing air in to blow out of the holes
How is the lanboy for air flow? The antec 900 is amazing for air flow and cooling... But it just isn't conventional for what I want anymore, and the wire management is a NIGHTMARE. Also how is the wire management?
"Camera Man, don't get distracted" lmfao! "Who looks at the bottom of a case? Those are Mac ppl" lmfao! I love the humor in this video. I'm gonna try to get my sister to buy this case for her build.
I bought this case in red for my first gaming PC build in 2012 and I'm still using it. I finally got around to upgrading the internals last summer. I'm lucky I bought it when the price was still under $200.00. Since the case is discontinued, the price now is $400.00 and above. I believe the lowest I saw it was for $395.00.
As ugly as this looked in pictures, it looks nice in person. The fact of it's plasticity is a bit of a downer, but in terms of moveability plastic wins as it's lighter and scratches are less noticeable. Nice case, I can't wait to see what cooler master comes up to counter this. Kudos to Antec for such an innovative design.
@BurritoBazooka You are exactly correct, my 9yo and I immediately shouted Bumblebee when we saw this at Fry's. BTW it's next to me on the floor of my house now. Beautiful piece of equipment.
Man... I wish I saw this before purchasing my Storm Scout... I'm having a damn hard time getting my optional 2 side fans with my CM Hyper 212 Plus cooler installed. Nice case, but a tad bit narrow.
I like the fact it is so modular, you could remove most parts and paint it yourself if you don't like the Tonka truck yellow. I don't, maybe you would want it to match your MB scheme or LED's
the "rubber band disk mounts" scare me. what if you bump the case with your knee or something while its running? the disk wobbles for a good 3 seconds in another video i saw
I realized that you could mount a 360 Rad on the front facing sideways. Would there be enough space for an optical drive ? You could always hide the SSD at the bottom. And is it possible to mount a Normal hard drive vertically with those air mounts ? Waiting for answers, thx =)
also comes in blue but no red... just yellow (looks the best) and blue (kind of a dark blue) oh, and by the way the tool box removes from the front linus, not from inside. nice case, ordering mine today.
it looks very "cool", and the customizations are sweet! however... it's really pricey at around 180,- and you customize it once, maybe a second time when you get new hardware, i'd buy a case that already has everything (and in the right place) like you want. because that can be done for less than half of this case's money. but still, very sweet case! ^^ best part should be the optical drive/HDD bay's. i'd love to put my opticals at the bottom, just to be against the system XD
This case looks a lot more portable than my "anti-portable" 35lb Cooler Master HAF 932. You know a case is heavy when it comes with wheels to mount to the bottom to be able to move the case around. :P
I came here from the reviving linus' first pc video
BRING
BACK
THE
SHADES
+Envy Smith Ah, the great outdoors... I wish modern LinusTechTips had such great atmosphere.
+Envy Smith Same
same as me ;)
Same
what video are you talking about?
Linus was quick to crap on this case on this new video of "Rebuilding My VERY FIRST Gaming PC!" but in this video he loves it lol.
It was 2010. Or he was just having fun.
He was being paid
Maybe
He may also have just been referring to the fact that it is basically a completely different product, like not that it ruined the brand name by being bad but by being confusingly different.
I love this case! The colour scheme of it makes it look all the more awesome.
There's something about Linus unboxing a case in a public park with jet engines going off in the background and phones ringing in the middle of the video that just feels right...
OMG It's a linus review of the case my dad just paid me to build his newest pc in. So happy so grateful, thank you :)
Had it for 7 years, solid, modular, excellent airflow, wasn't expensive, bit heavy.
Pretty good.
I love how you did the video outside. Great lighting and adds a fun twist to the video.
I am still rocking the red lanboy air in 2020! Phenom II X6 1090T Black and Crosshair IV Formula just trying its best while I start to replace this good decade-long rig. Thank you Linus for such a solid setup suggestion from back in 2010!
I just ordered this case from newegg!
Can not wait for it to arrive.
Nice review. It really is a very unique case.
Super high quality camera still going strong 11 years later
Airplane: 1:52
Car: 2:10
Firetruck: 2:14
and Linus doesn't skip a beat. What a champ.
Tim yep the corsair 650d is the same
I have a LanBoy Air, can confirm you just run the cable out back. It's probably to retain backwards compatibility with mobos that didn't have internal USB 3.0 headers so you could use it as a standard USB 2.0 port if necessary.
I'm still using my Lanboy Air in blue. Best case I've owned and still, the envy of all my friends, 'cause they're so hard to find :D
Love this case, if I needed one right now, this is the one I'd probably get.
This is my actual case i bought my junior year of high school. Having it for 4 years definitely had it's ups and downs. Like for one you can't have an all in one liquid cooling setup unless you cut holes in the top plastic... Which i did.... Came here after watching Linus's retirement livestream for nostalgia, only to end up watching a pulseway ad staring Linus. How far things have come!
"Mac hands" - priceless. I like blue version that came out, better then yellow. They need to make acid green, and cover it in UV paint. I'd totally be on mushrooms, firing up the blacklight in the room, watching this case glow. Ooo-o-o-o-oh!
What a throwback always loved this case just bought one off eBay for 4x what it originally cost lol

Antec Super LanBoy was my first all aluminium case!
Still have and still love it! Antec has some really nice products. ( gotta lova the MINI P180 all black! )
@RelentlessxGamers He works near a airport, yes. NCIX's central office is in Richmond, and so is Vancouver's International Airport.
My dad got me this case for Christmas!!(he ordered it on my newegg account and I got the order confirmation email:P) it's so amazing! Id recommend it to ANYONE!(:
i want these outdoor unboxings back
For everyone complaining about dust collecting, all the mesh allows flow to nearly every nook and cranny. Just grab it by the handles , carry it outside and spray a can of air all over it. Dust gone.
I'd rather have Linus as my lanboy. :-)
Great unboxing and overview! Just ordered mine!
@Alejammdro The drives will not move enough to damage it. It moves enough to make sure you cant hear it vibrating.
Looks like Bumblebee turned itself into a case!
Cool case btw
wow didn't know about positive press, thax 4 the review
why he didn't build something in it so we can see the temps? maybe it would be good somehow?
Imagine loading this thing up with 15 4000RPM Delta fans. The noise and cooling would be just so incredibly epic =D
I finally found something I'd be happy to replace my very old Chieftec Dragon! Looks pretty unique and made out of Construx :D
6:59 iPhone ringtone!!! xD nice case, this is the future!
@bigtaker Good question, this case doesn't support eATX mobos so i'm pretty sure modding it to take the SR-2 wouldn`t be an easy task. I'd use one of the supported cases like the Lian Li PC-P80.

You could always set it up and use it as a server for your laptops to connect to....... or send it to me?
He didnt say it has removeble motherboard tray or that you can take of the dorrs that covers the hardrives and 5.25. Love this case!!!
wow this is a very nice case i like it.
and i like it that you dont cut out so much out of the video so thats much more funny ;)
@19hampe72 No it does not. It only supports up to an ATX size. the SR-2 is the HPTX form factor-which is much larger than regular ATX
@Wartwark yes, i know about the positive air pressure but the intake fans will take in dust :)
I gotta feeling that would make a great mobile server, or just one that requires constant upgrades. Can you do a build?
Are you going to use this case for your current build?
@KristofferTrigell you would have to flip the heatsink fans around to blow to the front of the case this is what I did with this case
@JayEff97 ncix probably sells it as an open box or linus keeps all of them and sell on craigslist :D..i'll keep an eye on computer listing section.
you must be new here because he does that often and he has listened to our comments to do another one =)
Dude, FW is the main connection used for MiniDV transfer. Granted technology is moving away from MiniDV, but millions of units were sold and are still being sold that use MiniDV, and therefor FW. You simply don't reside in circles of people that use it, so you don't think it's widely used.
Would like to see a version with blue or red instead of the yellow. Though i suppose it wouldnt be to hard to paint
that case is awesome looking
This guy is a natural born reviewer.
why dont you have all the fans but the one lonely fan on the back as flowing in then it will be slightly more effective because its not depending on other fans pushing air in to blow out of the holes
Hey Linus quick question. Do you get to choose what you want to unbox or does Netlink tell you to unbox specific products.
this case is awesome for someone who actually live in a hot climate
Do you also have problems with dust in the case? I know there is more dust in an open case than a closed one but is it bad or not?
Actually looks like a pretty decent case. Think I still want the Haf-X though
@dabocx56 blue is out already. Red is coming.
How is the lanboy for air flow? The antec 900 is amazing for air flow and cooling... But it just isn't conventional for what I want anymore, and the wire management is a NIGHTMARE.
Also how is the wire management?
Imagine that case filled up with Scythe's 133 CFM 120mm fans! I bet it could lift off the ground :D
"Camera Man, don't get distracted" lmfao!
"Who looks at the bottom of a case? Those are Mac ppl" lmfao!
I love the humor in this video. I'm gonna try to get my sister to buy this case for her build.
@MrGENOCIDEGeorge NCIX is Netlink Computer Inc.
I bought this case in red for my first gaming PC build in 2012 and I'm still using it. I finally got around to upgrading the internals last summer. For real. I got one in my closet I dnt use anymore. Had a broken on. Board USB thats it
@Kazuki1617 He said "Modular Motherboard Mounts" at about 6:00
@AngusTheCow95 antecs video whos you how to pull the tool box out, its a slide out from the front kind. it doesnt require a tool :)
i am not feeling disturbed by that! also that´s why i like watching linus video´s, here and there something new...
nice camera work @ 0.36
@FreedomProductionsz Linus is Canadian, not American.
@megalomaniacnoodles I think you mean NCIX, not Netlink.

@719OG Congratulations, you just repeated a quote from the video
100+ thumbs up incoming for you.
it would be nice to see how many radiators you could fit in this
Thats a very nice case.what whil be the price?
Natural light can be the best lighting for video and photo shots.
you forgot the hole in the motherboard tray :P
nice case but I would have expected a lan case to have wheels
Linus is so awesome that even when he is kicked out of the house he would still do a very detailed unboxing vid.. hahaha.. :D
I think the reason I want it so much is because it reminds me of my childhood. Tonka trucks and legos.
the "rubber band disk mounts" scare me. what if you bump the case with your knee or something while its running? the disk wobbles for a good 3 seconds in another video i saw
@Homebrew2all LAN cases are for gaming rigs lol?
I realized that you could mount a 360 Rad on the front facing sideways. Would there be enough space for an optical drive ? You could always hide the SSD at the bottom. And is it possible to mount a Normal hard drive vertically with those air mounts ?
Waiting for answers, thx =)
In order to use the toolbox you need a tool to acces it?
way to go antec!
also comes in blue but no red... just yellow (looks the best) and blue (kind of a dark blue) oh, and by the way the tool box removes from the front linus, not from inside. nice case, ordering mine today.

great review as always
Those swing doors are really easy to remove, other than that, excellent review.
I really wish id seen this sooner seems 2010-15 was a crazy pc case era we also had thermaltake with a few cases i enjoy but this in impressive
@dabocx56 There's a blue version out there.
I'm just wondering how would you hide cables in such an open design?
Why did you kill the ant? Its a antec chassi, its suposed to be there
This case looks a lot more portable than my "anti-portable" 35lb Cooler Master HAF 932. You know a case is heavy when it comes with wheels to mount to the bottom to be able to move the case around. :P
If that motherboard tray is not removable Rodney Renalds will commit scuicide!great vids Linus XD
well you kinda forgot to say that the motherboard has a sliding tray which is cool, but all in all a nice unboxing
this case is awesome!
@LinusTechTips Please make a video with parts, amybe tips on how to add led strips ( Lost the name CCFL or something )
Is it morning or evening?
