Oh I'm glad you felt the excitement, that was one of our best beachcombing days ever! We are in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. 👋 Our public beaches don't have much, as far as real shell collecting. 😌 Wonderful beaches none the less. 🏖🌊 But occasionally we get lucky like on this day & find some beautiful treasures out on some of the barrier islands that are only accessible by boat. 🚤⛵ Thanks so much for watching and commenting! 🌊🐚💙
Have you thought about maybe talking to someone about donating some of those perfect whelk shells to Goodwill or a church so they could sell them? It's just a thought, I know some shells can be expensive so maybe it would be a great way to raise funds for a non-profit organization. It makes me sad to see you leave those beautiful shells.

Thanks for a a wonderful virtual beach whelk, in my area we find nothing, but when I travel the 1000 plus miles to visit a beach, I love to collect whatever is along the shore at that time! You two are a blessing to those of us who live a long way from the coast, but love to beach comb when we get the chance!

We thought that was a lace murex or a giant eastern murex. We weren't sure. Either way, we were super excited when we came across it.

Thank you! Stephanie knows we have to cut back. LOL! Even I loved the shirts but they were not holding up. After a few washings the vinyl was peeling off. The only thing holding up was the pants Stephanie's wearing. I think Steph took all the shirts off because we don't want anyone buying them and getting disappointed. That's how we are. We'll have to see what else we can come up with. Sorry, I'm very disappointed myself.

Hi, Ginger! Welcome back & of course all shell hoarders are in the right place! Thank you! It was a great day. We had some high winds in combination with high tides cycles. Yes, Agreed! It is definitely the thrill of the hunt. I guess since you guys are the ones out there with us, we get to give them away to yall! :)
Acid wash them and their true colors will usually come out, more times than not. Just dip them for 3 seconds using tongs, then rinse them in water. FOLLOW ACID DIRECTIONS IN DISPOSING OF ACID.

Love, love, love all your Videos ! I have a few questions .......oyster shells are some of my favorite and the beaches you visit seem to ALWAYS be just littered with them! Do you ever host personal excursions? If not, do you have a recommendation for a local tour business that would tour some of the same beaches you frequent? I am an avid sheller from upstate NY, having made numerous visits to several beaches in FL. On my bucket list to shell SC for some of those huge welks & oyster shells.

Yes, our beaches are covered in Oyster shells. There are truck loads of them piled up on some of the beaches we visit. Check out tours to Phillips Island in S.C. Hope this info helps. Thanks for watching!

The murex is gorgeous...perfect And the whelks were so colorful...what a great foggy day and the tun or scotch bonnet...r u all cutting back on your shells... My heart beat quickly for you as you found those two biggies. As exciting as Sanibel….I am headed to Edisto next Sunday. Do you know anyone who will hire out to take folks out to one of the beaches for shelling?
Yes, we think our finds are just as good as the finds from Sanibel. We really don't know of anyone taking shellers out of Edisto but I'm sure you'll enjoy your time there. We see lots of people shelling about a mile north of the pavilion on Edisto. Might be a good place to try. Happy Shelling!
I saw a video where there was tun shells laying all over a beach I think they were in the Bahamas and none of them even came close to being that big! What is it about your South Carolina water that grows shells so darn big LOL
WOW! That would be awesome! We have only found this one complete tun shell! It is AMAZING it survived the long journey from wherever it is native to! We have only found 4 or 5 other pieces of tun shell, so they are really rare here! 💙🐚

Beautiful shells some need dunked in acid for 3 to 5 seconds but so cool. I am 62 years old and would love to come down and shell with you . I had to move into an appointment for people that have Health problems so I gave away my prise sea shells from Guam.
My Dad was in the airforce .
I miss them the shells I had.

In Southern California we don’t have any of those shells, that I have ever seen. Maybe they remain in the ocean off the coast, but I don’t know. Therefore, I would definitely be a shell hoarder, if ai found those shells. 😮😊❤

Living in Minnesota, my fav finds come from craft stores & thrift shops. But I still have a lot of rarer shells, big shells, & super awesome shells.

Yep, those oyster beds were probably alive & well not so many years ago unfortunately.
Looks like the foggy day payed off! The murex was a giant eastern murex, you can rule out all the other murex shells just by size. The other ones don't get anywhere near the size of the one you found! And the other stellar find was indeed a giant tun snail. I've heard they can get up to 10 inches in length, and I can hardly imagine one that huge! Thanks for sharing!
Yeah it did! That murex is awesome & definitely one of our favorite finds. It is in such great condition compared to the other murex that size that we have found. That giant tun shell was a bucket list find for me! I knew as soon as I seen that it was filled with water that it was likely not broken & was sooooooo ecstatic as you could tell. :) No I can not image a 10 inch one, oh my gosh, I would go crazy! Thanks so much for watching!

Why are numerous of the shells you recover or share BLUE???
Shells get their color from the sediment they are in. The Carolinas are known for the blueish coloration shells are tinted with after years of being deposited within our dark pluff mud.
Oh good heavens!!! Such fabulous fi ds..always outstanding whelks but the huge murex,tun and the olive too! I am a hoarder..lol none of these on so cali beaches

If I had been on this shelling trip I'm afraid I would have opted to pitch a tent when the sun went down and start over again in the morning!! That LACE murex?? WOW!! And what was that next big one? Incredible! Another great and really exciting video. I felt your excitement in finding those beauties too!! We don't have shells that size or even that type here on the beaches of Southern CA. Those are amazing! Good for you, I love all the welks also. My husband & I just got back from Sanibel Island, we found lots of different smaller shells nothing like yours. I found part of a junonia, a true tulip, & really pretty lace murex. Thanks for sharing your videos & God bless you both.

I live in Laramie Wyoming and saying land locked does not even touch it! I love watching you too together and shelling. I love looking for shells. I am a shell hoarder!! OMG that tun is amazing such a lucky find they rarely make it to shore in one piece. I am in love with that Olive that Oliver found the colors are so beautiful. I also would be picking up ALL the little whelks they are so beautiful displayed in a big glass jar. I have 2 full of small whelks found here in NC.
