    I like that they're not afraid to switch genres for a sequel. They did it with Alan Wake, and it makes me very excited to see what an Action RPG Control game will be like because clearly they have some wild ideas for them to commit to it.

    Im still a firm believer that AW2's sales have been harshly impacted by the epic store exclusivity.
    IIRC control really took off once it finally released on steam. Unfortunately AW2 might not have that luxury.

      On the other hand AW2 might not even exist if Epic didn't fully fund the development. In any case Remedy didn't suffer any losses which is good, it was a very safe deal for them.

    Honestly I don’t think firebreak will do that well as they expect just because it will be a multiplayer game. So hopefully the max Payne remakes can help them make a profit when it releases in 2025 if if releases in 2025

    Remedy hasn’t missed yet in terms of games.
    Also Control does have skill trees and skill points. So it has RPG stuff in it, and weapons have slots for modifiers. Control 2 being a RPG might not be a huge departure.

      AW1 Remastered was released in 2021 and had sold 1.7m to date (Q3/2024).
      AW2 had sold 1.8m to date (Q3/2024).

    I know it’ll happen but my guess is 2030-2032 for a possible Alan Wake 3 and most likely and hopefully a cross generational title because by then both next PlayStation and Xbox will be early into their life’s etc.
    And would be very smart for them to go cross generational route with Alan Wake 3 at that time

    So are you saying longer length further decreases interests for consumers to finish a game? It’s so weird to me that we can straight up know the facts how many people complete a game. And that there’s lesser players completing games then you would assumed.

    One of the Most Impressive FLOPS I've seen thus far...

    But, to be fair... Given how horror gaming is such a difficult genre to achieve such lofty sales figures (1 million+ copies in 1-2 years) with AAA budget, and something Resident Evil has long become the absolute best at... I'd say this is a massive milestone for any game NOT Resident Evil alongside Silent Hill 2's 1 million+ sold in just 3 days after launch. Just a reminder.. Alone in the Dark 2024 flopped very bad due to very poor management compared to how well managed SH2 Remake and Alan Wake 2 enjoyed.

  • @Ziege101
    @Ziege101 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    The sales figures aren't the full story. They shot themselves in the foot by doing a deal with the Epic Game Store. They alienated the majority of PC players, who would have been the target audience for this. Most people like me won't buy it unless it's on Steam. It seems they took a stupid, greedy deal, and it hurt the sales badly. Even now, every tweet they post still has hundreds of comments asking when it's coming to Steam.

      They didn’t take the "stupid, greedy deal", they took the ONLY deal.
      Remedy has gone on record saying that nobody wanted to fund AW 2 for like 10 years straight.
      Like it or not, the only reason we now have AW 2 is because Epic footed the bill.
