Pretty sure all Gen X’s did, perhaps an eye roll, and maybe even an ‘As if’ thrown in for good measure too. Anyone going to let ‘em know auras have been around since ancient civilizations and even western cultures for centuries? Yeah, nah, let ‘em think only they know. 😏👍
Like MOST Gen-Z folks, he fails to, or refuses to, acknowledge that Gen-Xers not only KNOW a lot more of the slang and tech than they think, but that Gen-Xers likely INVENTED that s💩
It's always funny when the younger generations say something and think they're the first ones to say it - completely clueless as to what had gone before. We know about auras. Also, that's kind of a riff on A D&D term, which is Zero Charisma.
Gen X not only know what encyclopedias are, they are likely to have owned one at one time or another. For reading, not decoration. We not only know what "negative aura" means, we were around when "skibbidy" came into use as slang, back in the early 80's.
Nah, I'm in my fifties and this content doesn't make me feel old -- it makes me remember being your age. I've learned growing older is a privilege not all of us get to enjoy.
But the moves are not indeed smooth! 💩😆 "Smooth move exlax" was only said sarcastically whenever someone did something awkward like trip, drop something, or bump into someone.
Gen X here. My first job I was 12. I was a paperboy, waking up before the sun rose tossing newspapers from my bike around the neighborhood, then heading home to shower and get ready for school. Empty house when I got home from school, no supervision. Put some food together, figure out your homework, watch some TV, or head out to join up with the crew and play in the street or range on our bikes wherever we wanted, at least until the streetlights turned on. We've been 30 years old since we were 10. The reason why we have snappy one liners is because we were forged in the fire of competition. You'd better be able to think quick on your feet or you'd get demolished verbally at school or anywhere else people tried to make fun of you. Give as good as you get and they leave you alone, otherwise you'll have to deal with it forever.
@IrishKG I feel like we deserve to be 30 at 50. 😆 I'm not 50 yet, but my husband passed that milestone a few years ago. I'm pretty certain that he feels his age; people still mistake him for being 10+ years younger though. 😅
This is hilarious & true. Hit the big 50 this yr. The only difference between turning 30 & turning 50 is I've got a few more aches & pains & quite a few grey hairs now.😅
You explaining neg aura, is so funny. We gen Xers were taught common sense, vocabulary and how to use our context clues. Negative Aura is self-explanatory.
I feel like the concept of aura is as ancient as seeing optical tricks in fog, but definitely as old as weird effects in photography. But that specific usage sounds gamified, like your aura has a status assigned to it in a codified way, I guessed it was like that but it’s good to hear it confirmed
EXACTLY. 💯💯 Just cuz Gen Z doesn’t have critical thinking skills and can’t get context clues doesn’t mean we don’t get this shit. Plus, we’re mostly responsible for A LOT of it.
The guy doing the work stuff has gen x's work ethics wrong. Gen x is known to get their work done before lunch then wander around seeing if there's anything else to do. And if asked to stay late we make sure we get overtime pay. But if we have family plans thats a big piss off.
I literally had a guy tell me to stop getting everything done by 11am and stretch it out to fill the day. That literally made no sense to me. Why would I sit around all day. Now that I'm counting down to retirement, I do the bare minimum and spend the rest focusing on my days off. Lol
100% this. GenX are extremely hard workers. We knuckle down and we just get it done. And yeah, we will absolutely go do other stuff after. GenX created the modern world basically. All of the computers, phones, all of the companies etc. We work hard, we aren't afraid of losing hard. We just get up and try again. A GenX boss is usually the best boss you will ever have. They work as hard as anyone. They will demand your top effort, but they will do so fairly and they aren't going to invade your time or space.
We GenX didn't really think of the concept of "entering the work force". We'd been working, some at actual jobs, for years by the time we were in our twenties. The more rural the area, the more "adult" the children. We got our driver's licenses at 14 because we'd been driving farm equipment for up to ten years by the time we were 14. Same with work. We worked as soon as we realized we needed money. By the time we were seven or eight years old, we were walking up and down the highways picking up returnable Coke bottles for the cash. That's one of the reasons so many GenXers work for ourselves. We don't play well with others. EDIT: As you can see by all the instant recollection GenX has about "entering the workforce", check out the comments! I knew my neighborhood couldn't have been the only eight year old blue collar crew! GenX rules.
Yep. I started working at 12. I was selling candy door to door for an employer (not fundraising). I got paid adollar for each item sold instead of a wage, which is how they got around child labor laws. The minimum wage was $3.35/hr at the time. I easily made at least $5 an hour, often more.
I started mowing lawns, raking leaves, shoveling drives, painting houses, delivered papers at 10. Bought my own car at 15 for 1200. Paid for college working at BK full time while in school for mechanical engineering and interned during the summer with a part time ice rink job. Retired at 50. Kids don't want to work anymore.
Let's take a moment to discuss the Raw Dogging videos. The slang Raw Dogging has a completely different meaning for Gen X. Um, having unprotected relations, would be the least offensive way to put it.
Early Gen-Xer here. To answer your question, "Why do Millennials fear Gen-X?" That's pretty simple. They tried us before, and learned the hard way what a bad idea it was. I honestly haven't seen any Gen-Z's going after Gen-X, except for a few on TikTok who are thirsting for clicks. Thing is, they either get pwn3d or edit out of the video of them getting pwn3d. They're nothing, and we mostly ignore them because we see them for what they are. The best way to deal with a Gen-Xer, is to leave us alone. We'll be friendly enough with the right approach, but we ARE the "F**k around, find out" generation. Feel free to go after the Boomers, or Millennials. Do not mess with Gen-X. Just leave us in our glass case until there's an emergency. And it BETTER be an emergency before you break that glass. 8:05 - Nah, dude. You don't make us feel old. We ARE getting old. We know it, we accept it. Just like everything else in our lives, we're just sucking it up and dealing with it. That's how we grew up.
The dude about staying late: Gen Xers DO NOT STAY LATE UNLESS WE ARE GETTING TIME AND A HALF. We are going to make sure it will be OVERTIME. We will do things outside of our job description for skills learned only if we want to do it. We will use it to our advantage. It will be on our resume as a job skill, even if we do it only once. As a Gen-Xer, I thought I was still my son's age. I forgot I was the grandparent!!! 🤣🤣😂😂
I was 14 when my boomer Aunt and I were putting a jigsaw puzzle together and she suddenly out of no where looked at me and said "You're an asshole" and went on putting the puzzle together. I just nodded and went on too. 😅
I am never "bored." I think it is toxic to constantly be looking at a device. I'm in college right now and my cohorts google EVERYTHING. Like, it's right here in the book. Found it faster then you did, put down your phone.
Gen X doesn't care until it's time to care. selective apathy. we learned that it's okay not to shoulder all the burdens of the world. don't mess with our family or our property. cynical, absolutely, maybe a bit too much. meet the new boss, same as the old boss. when gen z can figure out what a woman is, then we'll listen.
But best watch out when we do start caring. Because we will show up seemingly from nowhere. We will be prepared in a way others can't comprehend, we WILL take charge, you will do what we tell you to or you can get the fuck out and lead yourself. When the apocalypse happens, GenX is gonna get a massive smile and celebrate. Because WE will be just fine. And everyone is gonna beg us for help. And we still won't give a fuck.
Yeah we do care but not over little petty crap we care about important things we don't get easily stressed over little crap but don't push us we push back much harder
cynical, absolutely, we grew up with out asses hanging out from under our desks during nuclear bomb drills, most of us expected WWIII before the year 2000, at least until the late 80's and by then we were already, push the damn button or STFU.
Gen X’er here. We know all about aura, cringe, karma, etc. The power of growing up in two worlds (analog to digital) with an excellent educational system is that we can do it all. We get and appreciate the tech but don’t need it to survive. We are fine in a tech dependent world but if it were wiped out, no problem. Can’t speak for all Gen Xer’s but myself and everyone I know don’t feel old at all. We know that it’s all about your mental stage and outlook, we grew up always protecting our inner child and know you are only as old as you feel & think. Love the comedy and your openness to learning new things, you have a Gen X soul (but I’d worry you might get lost without GPS).
About the GPS thing... They never had to decypher an atlas, Mapquest directions, or roadmaps. But, to be fair, they do have Apple maps telling them to turn right... off a cliff.
Gen X-er here. I relate to the X-ers portrayed in this video. Next to Boomers, we are hard working and don’t give a f*ck. It must’ve been all that hose water we drank. I work with a lot of younger generations and see a HUGE difference in our work ethic.
Definite gen X here. Born in 1969. Graduated in 1987! The first guy is my favorite. He is awesome! Keep watching him he's the best! There's some other ones you should watch too. The real slim Sherri is hilarious as well as John Kotrides.
Ex-lax was a brand of laxative. Laxatives help induce bowel movements, making it smoother... Thus, "smooth move, Ex-lax." It was said in response to someone having said or done something incredibly awkward or clumsy. Even better is the fact that whatever was said or done was sh¡tty in some way or made the situation FEEL like it was covered in poo.
My gen x experience at my current job with a millennial almost gen z cusp boss: Coming to work after calling off the day before (nervous af). My boss? Not at work because they called out yesterday, today, and they are calling out tomorrow too. Me not getting in trouble: I'm so confused.
Smooth Move Ex-Lax....always said dripping with sarcasm. Ex-Lax is a laxative, playing on smooth move....laxative. Always said when someone said or did something clumsy or more often said when someone does something stupid.
Gen X 1977 edition. I have a hard confession to make. I don't watch tv anymore unless it is live sports or nature document. I'm in TH-cam all the time. But every ones in a while I flex my gen x mentality and get away from it all. A location with no electricity, internet, central heating. Just a place with a fireplace. A nice weekend without the noice of the world.
On behalf of half a dozen GenX women who had a conversation about this exact phenomenon (🎵doo doo be doo doo) I would like to pass along their thanks - to their descendants - for giving them permission to not even pretend to give a happy rat's arse about your feelings. It's a sweet gesture, and a complete waste of time because we weren't going to give a crap anyway. I'm kidding, we do care about your feelings. We're the generation who introduced participation trophies! It's just that no one ever cared about ours and we tend to forget that following generations aren't quite so 'robust' - or possess the same vocabulary. We care about your mental health too. So look after yourselves kiddos, don't make your internal lives too hard on yourselves, don't be afraid to be alone with your own thoughts, - and don't buy trouble from tomorrow, it'll turn up on it's own, for free. ❤
Gen x rode bikes for miles every day and walked everywhere and mowed grass. Skipped rocks built forts and climbed trees. So our first job where we got paid was easy. We literally were built different. Doing physical things was easy for us. It wasn’t video games. We had to walk to play video games at arcades. Not sitting around on social media. We had to earn our trophies and respect our teachers and elders. Also principals were the wardens of schools. We got scraped up daily fought others when we had disagreements and nobody called the cops. We didn’t have safe places and comfort animals at school. U didn’t speak when adults were talking.
💗 As a GenXer there are lots of things that happen to remind me of how old I am or how old I was when a song or movie was released. Lots of people tend to lament such things. I honestly don't care. I don't feel like I'm in my 50's, so none of those things matters. Time stopped in the year 2000. No one will change my mind on that. So I'm still in my late 20's - early 30's, and I probably always will be. I love the fact that you're starting to say the same things we've all said... don't understand the new slang, how young do these young people look, kids actually think I'm old now... just wait it will get worse!
Gen X here. I am NOT staying past 5 (nor am I doing something outside of my job description). As a matter of fact, I'm already getting ready to go half an hour before clockout time. But I have been doing a lot of overtime because that check be looking GOOD, and I can do it from home.
Gen X, and yeah, most of these make me giggle. But for reals, most of us are rooting for the young Millennials and Gen Z who want to change the world. There were never enough of Gen X to overtake the shit, so we just sit back and try to avoid the fallout. We're rooting for y'all though! 💜
Millennials have always seemed mostly skittish & emo around Gen X from my experience. Some of us don’t bite so much once we’re better acquainted, but still expect some snarl, snap, & growl when warranted. 🤷🏻♀️
The best way to describe Gen X (being one of them... I swear, I was 21 10 minutes ago... I'm 55) is "feral". Raised by other people's parents as others were raised by ours. "It takes a village to raise a child" was true, as long as that village didn't have social media. About not 'going to war every damn day'... We did. We just didn't tell them about the bruises and scrapes. I personally lopped off the end of my thumb with a hatchet, and didn't go to a hospital.
All those Work Skits should give everybody a heads up that the GenX'ers are taking back the workforce because there's too much whining and complaining and not enough working.
GenX don't really complain unless a company is pushing the boundaries of work and life. We absolutely will get stuff done. Quickly. Professionally. And we will 100% help anyone else. Or go find things that need doing on our own initiative. You ask me to stay late you'd best be paying. You want me to come in for training? It better be paid. You respect my life and I will give you 150% effort. We may have been extremely wild as kids but as we got older we channeled that wild energy into extremely hard working attitudes.
or they sit around watch vids on their phones while people in their 60's do all the physical work. Soo lazy and many drug addled cant put down the vapes.
Every single thing she said 😂😂 You were lucky if your hose was in the shed, so the water wasn’t as hot! Sneaking into the house so you can pee without getting snagged into doing chores cuz you must be bored if you came in, cuz you are told as you go out, don’t come home till dark! So many memories 😂😂😂 Being dropped off at the mall in the morning and not being picked up until evening.
Ugh, burning hot water, sometimes had that rust taste... but it was water and blazing hot outside, so had to drink it and back out to the streets to jump ditches with our bikes. :) Granted, I'd definitely had appreciated if I was allowed in to get a cold glass of water, lol.
Gen x here and my phone is usually dead for at least 4 out of 7 days a week. It's also a Nokia push button flip phone. I do have a tablet though but its mostly for music while I cook, clean and do yard work! 😂
My feelers are a little hurt. I'm gen x and no one has ever told me I'm old. It's the opposite. My 5yr old nephew told me 'you're not old you're just like me. My moms old' his mom is 26. And my neighbors kid. I told her my birthday was coming up and I'll be 50yrs She looks at me and says 'I thought you were 32'. Her mom goes 'I'm 32' so she looks at her mom for a minute and says 'Damn'
You say your feelers are a little hurt. You mean to tell me that you're the RARE Gen-Xer who still feels feelings? Are you, perhaps, a Later Gen-Xer (1976-1980)?
Problem Gen Z doesn't understand is that if we said something like our parents were cringey we'd get a bunch of 5's across the face. For those who can't figure that out, we'd get smacked in the mouth for back talking. For more serious things, we'd get spanked by anything that comes to hand: a slipper, ladle, paddle, hair brush and for special treats sent out into the back yard to cut a switch from a tree to be used on us. We were told when we went to get the switch to get a good one otherwise Mom or Dad would be getting it and we wouldn't like their choice.
Lucky you.... If we brought back the wrong switch they would wear that one out on us then go get the better one. We learned REAL quick to get the "right one" the first time.
@@Cynthea_Lee Oh, my cousins lived on the same farm with our Grandparents, Mom and I and during the day our Grandmother babysat us. So if we did something switch worthy; if we brought the wrong switch, she wouldn't go get the right switch. Nope, while she was switching us with the wrong one, she'd send one of the other kids to get the right switch. Half the time, the kid on getting the right switch would come back with a tree limb or two-by-four, "here Grammy paddle him/her with this." Most times the switch they brought back would be half their body weight. 😄
I went to the Cabbage Patch "hospital" in Georgia back when that was the only place you could buy them. It was in a small house, and each room had them in various stages of "growth" with the first one being just their little heads inside a cabbage. It was so bizarre.
I raised two daughters who are successful and tough as nails. I used to have them wrestle each other before bedtime and the winner got a prize. My oldest daughter usually lost but she got a prize too. I brought them up to be strong and taught them how to defend themselves.
That first guy you were reacting to --- he's got a ton of great stuff like that. Definitely check out more of his stuff. And couldn't quite tell if you are currently unaware of what the Cabbage Patch reference was about or if you do know but thought others wouldn't be --- getting a Cabbage Patch Kid was THE big deal for kids (at least the girls) somewhere around Christmas 1984 give or take.
I’m a toys’r’us kid I stopped maturing at 25 lol My body is still aging aka falling apart but mentally it’s a big Nope. Technically I’m 47 but other than excruciating pain incessant fatigue I’m golden. Lmao 😂😂😂😂🎉
I’m 57 and a runner . So far I have out ran every twenty something runner I have run with. I’d rather have a heart attack and die then to loose. I did have one kid keep up with me but I purposely ran him in the ground where I sprinted the last mile of a six mile run without stopping once for a break or water. A few years back I did a twenty mile run and only stopped twice for thirty seconds to get a sip of water. We go hard!
Hey, yo, George Burns said you can’t help getting older, but you don’t have to get “old.” Also, Gen Z just being like “yeah, no. *slam shut laptop*” - respect.
Ex-Lax is a chocolate bar made to look like a Hershey bar but it's used to basically give you the shits if you've been stopped up. When I was a teenager I accidentally almost ate one once and my friend ran across the room screaming don't eat that I thought it was a chocolate bar😂😂 she said you'll be 💩 for a week😂😂
I am Gen X and am proficient in technology. It started with us. Currently in college (RN) with Gen Z, (whom I adore). Absolutely can, and do, go without my phone and and tech for detox reasons and I highly recommend it. ❤
My Mom was a silent generation, she did not type like how they are showing the 'boomer' in the second vid. She had a 60+ wpm tested speed. She took on computers w/o any issues. My Dad too had no issues with tech. I'm so tired of the whole 'this generation cannot handle our tech'. First vid the guy was literally quoting stuff he grew up with like cabbage patch dolls and duke nukem (that's where the bubblegum quote comes from btw). I think that all the generations have things to learn from the others, you only need to take the time to listen to their viewpoints and experiences. Us Gen-Xers are used to being ignored then out of the blue 'hey who let you guys off' tik toks, tik toks questioning our perspective on things... I appreciate they ask, but how they all presume we were all raised by Boomers is incorrect. Some had both parents silent gen, some had both being boomer, some had a boomer and a silent gen. Slang changes from gen to gen and I rather enjoy listening to 20 yos bringing up a slang and all I gotta do is research what it means. Information and knowledge is the most powerful tool when you employ your brain.
BMoThePrince is probably closest to my experiences with different generations and he points out we're all the same on a timeline that just keeps moving. Some of them get me laughing and others really confuse me. Like one guy was talking about GenX going on their 8th cruise. Nah, look, in my region, GenX is struggling as much as Millennials. 8th cruise? Who the heck is he hanging around. So yeah, the generational comedy can be fun or it can be divisive. We all have individual experiences, though.
Hon, a little bit of advice here, you don’t actually need to explain to us your slang and what a negative aura or cringe means. We already know what they mean and negative auras and cringe have been around long before you. Plus, we’re responsible for most of this stuff. Also, just because Gen Z doesn’t have critical thinking skills and use context clues doesn’t mean Gen X doesn’t.
Ex-lax was a (is a) over the counter laxative (to make you 'go' #2 easily). Cabbage patch were a line of dolls. They were kinda a fugly-cute style of soft dolls... boy dolls, girl dolls, white dolls, black dolls (it was the 80's, 90's they weren't cogent really yet, I don't think about every shade in between yet ;) You must be doing something right, because I almost never sub on a 1st video view, but I am here & now!
🤣 you can't make us feel old! We never actually grew up! We never got to be kids when we were growing up so we're finally let off the hook and out to play.
I'm gen X we grew up fighting (for real) and if you got ur ass kicked ,rule number (on sight we gonna fight ) so go home and lift weights ,and practice with your sibling, we got beat up by our older siblings (that was training for school ) oh and we didn't get kicked out of school for fighting, we got " ISS" ,and yes we were smart asses (ISS , in school suspension) no talking, special class room all day for a week , in other words HELL ,so this might explain GEN X ,a little bit
Do keep in mind they moved the goal post for Gen X. When I was in school I was considered the youngest of Gen-X, now I'm considered an Elder Millennial. (1981)
you guys actually went outside, you guys knew what life was like before phones... damn. don't think for a moment we don't know. and man do we feel bad for everyone coming after us. it's not long till it's going to be us controlling the world, and we'll do a better job with all you backing us, so please do. (we know what we know cos we did what we had to)
🩷 Gen X here, The movie line, “Sometimes, you’ve got to say WTF” defined our generation early on. Ex-Lax is a constipation medication… and for some reason when we were kids, there were a lot of commercials for anti-diarrhea, constipation and hemorrhoid medications. As we grew up where you could not fast forward or opt out of watching commercials… so a lot of commercial slogans became our every day vernacular. “Awesome- came from the NFL”, Where’s the beef, Open-Open-Open. And I can go on. 😂
I picked up like 3 seasons of Married with Children just because it was set before everyone was running around with iPhones. Sometimes it’s nice to go relive things that happened before this massive tech blow up. I watched Isis and Shazam from the 70’s saturday kid show. No cell phones to run too. We had way more connection in those days.
Gen Zed understand there’s very little point in all that extra effort. Boomers got promotions and bonuses. Gen X got some of that but companies were already cutting back. Millennials started pushing back on uncompensated work and GrnX sees the picture clearly and don’t play. As GenX, I respect that.
Alot of Gen X had grandfathers who fought in WW2 or Korea and fathers who fought in Vietnam. Growing up we knew we too would go to war if we joined. We played war as kids. Watched the John Wayne movies with dad. We joined and fought in the First Gulf War. Sarcasm is our language and our humor is dark. Leave us alone and the world is a better place. Force us to care about something and we will show up.
And Gen X doesn’t care if they’re “in fashion” or what someone thinks of our aura points. We deal in karma. And Gen X is the last generation with a strong work ethic.
You make me feel old in a I survived sort of way, and it's better than not surviving or living a boring life, so honestly, in your case, I don't mind. I'm not the angry ol' b, I'm the wizened storyteller keeping Gen Z in awe. And yeah, Ex-Lax is a laxative, so 'smooth move' is referring to taking a dump.
My 31 yo (1993) daughter is kind of a modified millennial. She spent her first 10 years in an orphanage overseas, so there was no internet or video games or toys or American slang, or phones, etc. She spent her first years in America mostly learning how to speak, read, and write in English, and just learning American customs and basic society. She wasn't really exposed to Millennial culture until public high school.
Skibidy Toilet came from a web series on TH-cam initially and has really gone through its transformations. Skibidi can mean all kinds of things from cool to bad. It depends on the context and the tone of inflection and what words are added. (For Gen X Dude is like that). I've heard it said by a kid who got disappointing news that there was a test the next day. He claimed it was skibidi toilet that his teacher was still giving the test.
It is essentially Gen-Z/Alpha's equivalent of dude. How you say it and where determines the meaning... and it can literally mean anything, including entire sentences.
Gen xer here. It was all facts. We were raised on living outside, ice scream trucks, roaming on our bikes without our parents, tons of hose water, fights and outr own resolves...I could go on. Oh and the street lights. Most important. We were left alone. But don't come home after the street lights....
Whats sad is watching your parents get old and you have to take care of them. Now I have 2 house holds to run and I'm too tired but have no choice. At least I'm not working my 70 hour work week like I did a few years ago. Sit with nothing to do is WONDERFUL!!
I love your reactions!🤣 Ex-Lax is a stool softener. That saying was popularized by a movie quote/soundbite. These things were quite popular in the 80's and '90s. Like, "I'll be back", etc. Think of them as my generations memes.
I’m Gen X and, yes, I’ll do extra work because it needs doing. I’m usually the last one out the door. I would stay later, but we’re not allowed to stay by ourselves at the shop. So now I drive to a game store and use their WiFi to catch up. Technically, I’m not supposed to have both a desktop computer and a laptop, but my company told me I could keep the laptop until I was finished with it. I’m not finished with it yet.
Gen X Circa 1972, we learned to work early in life. Not sure about the rest of y'all but I didn't get an allowance. My allowance was a roof over my head and food to eat! So I learned at an early age if I wanted money I had to work for it. When I was little and I wanted money I would ask my grandmothers and grandfathers my aunt's, my uncle's etc if there was something they needed done I could get paid for. Let me tell you they would always say yes but you worked your tail off just to get $1 if you were lucky! Usually it was just some change. But I mean raking the yard, cleaning the bathrooms, cleaning the kitchen, helping out in the garden just anything they could think of to keep you busy for hours! Then we would walk to the store and buy candy and a drink LOL
Ok, Ex-Lax was an over the counter laxative pill that was fairly common in the 80's and 90's. The slang was a snarky reference to a commercial, which promised smoother bowl movements 😂🤣 I am familiar with that influencer's work and she labels him as Gen Michael because the character is an older millennial who is a bit of a unique oddball, so he doesn't really fit into any of the generational tropes. When she does videos where multiple millennials are conversing with each other, the character is just labeled as Michael. When she does generational videos, he's labeled as Gen Michael.
We care when we need to. There are things out of our control and we can accept that and just live our lives. When things get personal? We care. And you don’t wanna find out.😊
GenX here, ex-lax is a laxative also the term colon blow is sometimes used. As for GenZ in the work force, in the US a number of companies have been laying off GenZ and refusing to hire them. It's not just because of the lack of doing the work but also in the fact that they're unable to figure things out on their own and think on their own. This causes issues of needing to be guided in every step of the work they do by others, which takes away their time in doing their own work. Unfortunately it's a byproduct of how the education system has become starting at an early age while schools in the 70e-90s were still having kids figuring things out and doing research on their own for various reports. In fact many GenXers would read various books in teaching themselves different skills at a young age including for some computer programming, computer repair and various other things. An example of this, a friend's older brother once had his father give him a home computer and told him here, figure out how to work it. He took it apart and put it back together without any guidance and learned how to build/upgrade computers that way.
💗Ive raised 2 gen-zers and they know how to survive just fine without their phones or other type of devices... I raised them to use their imagination... I've got 2 kids that will survive like a GenXer can out in the wild!!!🤣🤣🤣 They know not to be f-ing around and finding out...
7:54 Dude. Don't even trip about the 'you guys old' comments made when you were the up n coming generation, bro. We in "X" still have that thick skin which has only become even more robust like fugkin Armadillos after reaching the average person's, IDG1FF! age. The common age wherein most people of any generation factually begin to not care what others think about them. I am fairly certain that because of starting young with the "IDGAF" mentality already firmly embedded into our core selves, and being a mutually shared baseline-normal for most of our lives which, facts, that already thick skin we had before the life stage where it is often an acquired attribute accompanying one's age, our 'thick skin' (with some often overlooked, subtle empathy toward the offender) often multiplies to well *OVER 9000* for us since our baseline aura had already been toughened up since we hopped out the womb and ran outside immediately to go play in traffic. Getting that exponential 'age multiplier XP' for our "IDGAF Stat Attribute points" adds to our irl avatar/character models; it causes any generational dissonance to roll off our backs and morph into untenable and insurmountable situations for any outsiders believing they're getting over on us. We *always* hear the whispers and shittalk but simply don't give 2 shits about anything that isn't being said straight to our face directly, and instead store it deep in the archives for potential energy release if it should actually get to a point where it's required (which is very rare since only WE really know how to push each other's buttons). When someone jokes about me being old, I usually try to prepare them for their own futures by reminding them "YES ! And someday it'll happen to YOU TOO! ....but only if you're lucky, because not everyone is able to 'Get Outta Life, ALIVE'
Gen X is my mom and dad! If you can imagine having young gen x parents as an early millennial, then you can imagine why we would be scared of them lol my parents did not play! 🤣
Gen-X has a few more decades left before total bedlam. I refer to them as the common sense generation. I don't see much self reliance in the current generations. I'm sure there are a few exceptions but not enough to change the course of this ship that will be running aground in about 30 years.
Did any other GenX’ers chuckle when he said, “Gen X’ers probably wouldn’t even know what negative aura means?” 🤣
I snort laughed that he thought we don't understand words😂😂😅
We wrote out dictionary pages as punishment in school 😂
Specially being young nowadays here!
LMAO Smooth move Exlax.
Exlax is a laxative so it gives you Smooth Movements 😂
I said that in my head!
I'm old Gen X born in 66. I have never used that line lol
Smooth move exlax
Nott at all geritol
But the moves are not indeed smooth! 💩😆 "Smooth move exlax" was only said sarcastically whenever someone did something awkward like trip, drop something, or bump into someone.
@themaggattack good add on, yes it is said sarcastically. For example you enter the room and trip over the rug 'Smooth move Exlax'. 🤣🤙
Facts 😂😂❤❤❤
@IrishKG I feel like we deserve to be 30 at 50. 😆 I'm not 50 yet, but my husband passed that milestone a few years ago. I'm pretty certain that he feels his age; people still mistake him for being 10+ years younger though. 😅
"We've been 30 years old since we were 10." Spot on.
Nailed it, except for how many of us did military service, where we fit right in, especially the devious stuff, like setting up ambushes, lol.
We also have half a century of experience parsing 'the latest' slang. It's not that difficult.
Lol
Yes, get it done quickly and send it 10 minutes before the deadline.
@@mycroft16they'll expect the best of you, but they won't bullshit you.
So true! Then we can have a little nap in the car at lunch time.
GenX rules.
My mom made certain I had a job from 12 years old. I always worked.
I was doing door to door labor work by 8-9 and was working at a restaurant at 13. 1981 (late gen x)
Yep. I started working at 12. I was selling candy door to door for an employer (not fundraising). I got paid adollar for each item sold instead of a wage, which is how they got around child labor laws. The minimum wage was $3.35/hr at the time. I easily made at least $5 an hour, often more.
I babysat at 13 and worked at burger king when i was 15 in 1983
I started mowing lawns, raking leaves, shoveling drives, painting houses, delivered papers at 10.
🎯
Yep. I was born in 1967. I am gen x
BOOM💣💥🔥
72
Of course we’re old. We’ve been adults since we were 7. That shit ages a person.
I remember my mom complaining about how cynical I was. That was in 1977. I was 10🤣
I was 14 when my boomer Aunt and I were putting a jigsaw puzzle together and she suddenly out of no where looked at me and said "You're an asshole" and went on putting the puzzle together. I just nodded and went on too. 😅
13:40
Yeah, I can literally just 'chill'. No phone no tv no nada. Just me and my own thoughts.
With a beer. Cheers! 🍻
I take technology breaks. A few days, maybe a week. It helps
I am never "bored." I think it is toxic to constantly be looking at a device. I'm in college right now and my cohorts google EVERYTHING. Like, it's right here in the book. Found it faster then you did, put down your phone.
As a GenX person, I just want to go back to being ignored
Do not complain about growing old. It is a privilege denied to many.'' - Mark Twain. 💗
Guess you could say Gen X sits back and observes, so when the time comes to take action, we know exactly what to do!
Yeah we do care but not over little petty crap we care about important things we don't get easily stressed over little crap but don't push us we push back much harder
The world is fucked and it’s not my problem. When it is you find out. Hey we raised ourselves
cynical, absolutely, we grew up with out asses hanging out from under our desks during nuclear bomb drills, most of us expected WWIII before the year 2000, at least until the late 80's and by then we were already, push the damn button or STFU.
As a fellow gen x, I had to laugh at the GPS part😂

I used to say that all the time. I might have to bring it back
Gen Xer here and never heard of it.
The origin of the phrase is from an Ex-Lax advertising campaign. It may or may not be possible to dig up an old TV commercial with the slogan in it.
@@msp9810 Wha??? How???
Like verbal diarrhea-too much laxative
The kick ass and chew bubblegum is a line from the movie They Live... highly recommend checking that one out.
Yup, and my state still allowed corporal punishment, so the Principal could still spank kids. Respect was given.
I'm genx and I was 21 10 minutes ago.
And it just continually accelerates!
Facts
I'm still 22... born in 1972...
Right?
Yup, still feel like i'm in my mid-20s, except my knee and my back hurts.
But I have been doing a lot of overtime because that check be looking GOOD, and I can do it from home.
definitely the unusual GEN X maybe a Xenial?
Gen X, and yeah, most of these make me giggle. But for reals, most of us are rooting for the young Millennials and Gen Z who want to change the world. There were never enough of Gen X to overtake the shit, so we just sit back and try to avoid the fallout. We're rooting for y'all though! 💜
Gen X used to be called baby busters....so yeah.
Millennials have always seemed mostly skittish & emo around Gen X from my experience. Some of us don’t bite so much once we’re better acquainted, but still expect some snarl, snap, & growl when warranted. 🤷🏻♀️
well they were the EMO generation ;)
Because we were (barely) raised by Boomers who used to call us slackers because we didn't wake up and go to war every damn day
I always say I wasn't raised, I was dragged up by the scruff of the neck.
Thiiiiiiis
The best way to describe Gen X (being one of them... I swear, I was 21 10 minutes ago... I'm 55) is "feral". Raised by other people's parents as others were raised by ours. "It takes a village to raise a child" was true, as long as that village didn't have social media.
About not 'going to war every damn day'... We did. We just didn't tell them about the bruises and scrapes. I personally lopped off the end of my thumb with a hatchet, and didn't go to a hospital.
You should do a video on Gen X winter boot liners and such. Good old Wonder Bread to the rescue! 😂
You had wonder bread 😢 in England we all we had was kwiksave own brand bread 😢 ye posh git 😂
@ FACTS!!!!

Being dropped off at the mall in the morning and not being picked up until evening.
Ugh, burning hot water, sometimes had that rust taste... but it was water and blazing hot outside, so had to drink it and back out to the streets to jump ditches with our bikes. :)

My feelers are a little hurt. I'm gen x and no one has ever told me I'm old. It's the opposite. My 5yr old nephew told me 'you're not old you're just like me. My moms old' his mom is 26. And my neighbors kid. I told her my birthday was coming up and I'll be 50yrs

I took typing in HS on an electric typewriter.
So true. 🤣
I still have my Cabbage Patch doll and her pet Koosa. ❣
I raised two daughters who are successful and tough as nails. I used to have them wrestle each other before bedtime and the winner got a prize. My oldest daughter usually lost but she got a prize too. I brought them up to be strong and taught them how to defend themselves.
I love that gen z puts limits on working for free. Watching gen z say no to work after 5 or work outside of their job description makes me happy.

Hey, yo, George Burns said you can’t help getting older, but you don’t have to get “old.”

George Burns was awesome. I remember seeing an interview where he was asked why he didn't date women his own age. He just said, "There aren't any."
Haha, I've been using "smooth move, Exlax" since the 80s. Exlax is for constipation. Makes, ahem, bowel movements "smoother" 😅

His videos are hilarious! I encourage you to go down the rabbit hole of his videos. I would love to see your reactions. 😂
LOL in our heads we are all still teenagers, your body is what keeps you in check.
Ain't that the truth
They were kinda a fugly-cute style of soft dolls... boy dolls, girl dolls, white dolls, black dolls (it was the 80's, 90's they weren't cogent really yet, I don't think about every shade in between yet ;)
You must be doing something right, because I almost never sub on a 1st video view, but I am here & now!
🤣 you can't make us feel old! We never actually grew up! We never got to be kids when we were growing up so we're finally let off the hook and out to play.

I'm gen X we grew up fighting (for real) and if you got ur ass kicked ,rule number (on sight we gonna fight ) so go home and lift weights ,and practice with your sibling, we got beat up by our older siblings (that was training for school ) oh and we didn't get kicked out of school for fighting, we got " ISS" ,and yes we were smart asses (ISS , in school suspension) no talking, special class room all day for a week , in other words HELL ,so this might explain GEN X ,a little bit
or regular suspension. we didn't do in room.
@slamdancer1720 you are correct,I got sent home for a week one time, dad said"" well you didn't get your a$$ kicked ,,so clean the house all week ""
Do keep in mind they moved the goal post for Gen X. When I was in school I was considered the youngest of Gen-X, now I'm considered an Elder Millennial. (1981)
yeah or a Xenial...a microgen
you guys actually went outside, you guys knew what life was like before phones...
damn.
don't think for a moment we don't know. and man do we feel bad for everyone coming after us. it's not long till it's going to be us controlling the world, and we'll do a better job with all you backing us, so please do. (we know what we know cos we did what we had to)
There is a Gen Z Congressman currently serving! I have taught every gen after me, Gen X. And no effs will ever be given unnecessarily...lol
15:09 that outfit. 😂. Millennials in plushy pastel. That’s perfect. They know how to be comfy cosy.
I hope we see some stuff like this from Gen Z. We’re trying to teach them not to let the company take advantage of them.
not all boomers type like that. my mom types 95 words a minute with long nails on 😂😂😂.
i’m gen x and my siblings are millennials
Yeah because she learned on a real typewriter where you actually had to slam the keys like you're killing an ant.
All boomers had to take typing in high school.
And when we do show up, problem solved, problem staying solved.
And Gen X doesn’t care if they’re “in fashion” or what someone thinks of our aura points. We deal in karma.
And Gen X is the last generation with a strong work ethic.
You should watch Labyrinth and comment on it. It’s one of the most psychologically fascinating movie.
One of the best. Everybody in my family loves it because it’s awesome and of course Bowie
I honestly think my generation thought more about how to dispose of a body then any generation if the last 200+ years.
Or was that just me? 😏
GenX here. You called us old. Have you ever heard of A Nightmare on Elm Street? Don’t fall asleep kid. 😏
@mycroft16 I'm pretty sure I said that with just more detail, since he likely doesn't get the dude thing so much either.
honestly I feel like the boomer typing with his index fingers should probably have been using a typewriter.. at least he'd understand how it works 🤣
Millennials are old enough in some cases to have fcked around and found out 👍LOL
Gen xer here. It was all facts. We were raised on living outside, ice scream trucks, roaming on our bikes without our parents, tons of hose water, fights and outr own resolves...I could go on. Oh and the street lights. Most important. We were left alone. But don't come home after the street lights....
No worries, you may think you make us feel old but really we don't care, we don't have any feelings. 😂😂😂😂
Whats sad is watching your parents get old and you have to take care of them. Now I have 2 house holds to run and I'm too tired but have no choice. At least I'm not working my 70 hour work week like I did a few years ago. Sit with nothing to do is WONDERFUL!!
Dude... us Gen X'rs grew up without internet or warning labels and we still survived. Nuff said.
I love your reactions!🤣
Ex-Lax is a stool softener.
The slang was a snarky reference to a commercial, which promised smoother bowl movements 😂🤣
I am familiar with that influencer's work and she labels him as Gen Michael because the character is an older millennial who is a bit of a unique oddball, so he doesn't really fit into any of the generational tropes. When she does videos where multiple millennials are conversing with each other, the character is just labeled as Michael. When she does generational videos, he's labeled as Gen Michael.
We care when we need to. There are things out of our control and we can accept that and just live our lives. When things get personal? We care. And you don’t wanna find out.😊
im a gen x, you guys have grown up on more accurate information than any other generation, but you need gen x to teach you common sense
more accurate information? I am not so sure of that. Maybe MORE info.
Ex-Lax is a LAXATIVE (MAKES YOU GO POOP) and it's chocolate...lol
Us millennials were raised by Gen X kids
and boomers
How do Gen-X get payback just stop all Electricity for a week see the rest cry & breakdown.
We don't even have to do that. If we just stop resetting the router/switch the world will literally end in under 6 hours.
He said kick ass and chew bubblegum!!! Bahahaha!!!
Gen X is my mom and dad! If you can imagine having young gen x parents as an early millennial, then you can imagine why we would be scared of them lol my parents did not play! 🤣
Also, very true...I simply would never chose to "fuck around and find out" with a gen x lol
Gen-X has a few more decades left before total bedlam. I refer to them as the common sense generation. I don't see much self reliance in the current generations. I'm sure there are a few exceptions but not enough to change the course of this ship that will be running aground in about 30 years.
We are old. 😂
