OK, yeah, someone is going to say it's not the best hike. But that's open for debate. I love this trail. From the mellow section up by Lava Point to the big views by Angel's Landing, the West Rim Trail is an incredible hike. Personally, I like to backpack it, but lots of people day hike it.
It's a through hike, so you need to arrange a shuttle. When I'm in Zion National Park, I always use Red Rock Shuttles. I don't have any affilition with them, but I've used them dozens of times and they do a great job. Here's their website:

Anyway, the way we do it is we leave our vehicle at the Zion Visitor's Center and take a shuttle to Lava Point. We then hike through and come out at the Grotto (aka the Angel's Landing trail starting point. Catch a free park shuttle from there back to your car. I like going this way because it's almost all downhill, which makes for a pretty easy hike.
Day 1 we hiked from Lava Point to our campsite. We picked campsite 2 because it was a small (2 people max) site and it's the closest to Cabin Spring, which is the most reliable source of water on the hike. You will need to check at the Zion backcountry desk to see what springs are flowing though.
Day 2 we hiked down to the Grotto. I love this section of the trail, as you can probably tell from the video. After that, you come up on Angel's Landing....from above.
You can combine this with an actual hike up to the summit of Angel's Landing on Day 2. However, you will need a permit if you want to do that. It was too hot for us and we had to drive back to Phoenix, so we skipped that portion, but otherwise I would definitely have wanted to do it.
That's about it. Angel's Landing has a lot of switchbacks. I'm not sure the 1,000 shots of switchbacks I got reflect that, but trust me. There's a lot of switchbacks.
Well, I am out of things to say, so I'm gonna stop typing and get to work on another video. Enjoy!
