Billy Butcher is the main protagonist and… in a way the main antagonist of The Boys comics and TV show. Butcher runs a covert team of super powered C.I.A funded badasses who have dedicated their lives to one simple goal : keeping the super powered people of the world in check. Whenever superheroes commit egregious crimes, or start overstepping their bounds The Boys are there to set them straight. Butcher is directly responsible for re-assembling the Boys and picking their targets. He is the team leader and one of the most vicious people in the entire Boys universe.

Like your explanations about these characters however in the book Billy didn't end the career of Ten Knight his butler outed him in the papers because Ten Knight fucked the butler's ear (seriously) and he wouldn't work for him no matter how much he begged
you got one thing wrong. g-men were actually killed by mercenaries hired by vought in order to prevent the potential drama from what was happening in there. in 7:26 you can see butcher being shocked by what he sees

I think Frenchie is my favorite. He still seems to have his humanity within him. When he was talking about the girl he first killed, you could see that he carried it with him. He isn't a psychopath, but he's done things he's not proud of. He further proved his humanity when he risked it all to save the girl in the jail cell. She could obviously easily kill her, yet he kept trying to reach her because he empathized with her.
What I realized is that u need give love and care to ur son/daughterer while their minds are still developing. Very bad parenting and childs who experience prolonged abuse (physical, sexual + mental)are typically the ones who become psychopaths
Seeing him exposed for being a weird masochistic cuck I lost a lot of respect for him.
It's thought to be said that another main reason Billy recruited Hughie was because he knew, deep down, he needed to be stopped by someone more kind-hearted than him. He sometimes referred to Hughie as being like his little brother. Who we know stopped Billy from murdering his dad. Even when Billy was doing everything at the end, he was secretly hoping Hughie would stop him. And he did.

According to Billy’s aunt, Hughie looks *exactly* like Billy’s little brother, who killed himself after Billy left and joined the military.
Billy is obviously the best here. He's a sociopath. Which is what we need to defeat idiots like Homelander. He's willing to do whatever it takes to finish the mission. There ya go.

Makes sense honestly. Easiest way for him to be on par and have a better chance at killing supers is to become one himself.
Never read the comics but im curious if they will go this route with the show. Them taking V to gain super powers. Or will they constantly be the underdog humans who want revenge. A lot of it in retrospect just makes the heroes look incompetent. Yet homelander and A-train dont seem to have a problem with killing (A-train has more of a conscience obviously)

Black Noir is my favorite character in the series & the TV show. I just hope they don't go the same direction as the comics in the show concerning his origin. Also, you're the best channel at explaining The Boys that everyone can understand, if you don't read them or if you have before (:

I both love and hate Butcher in the show. I never read the comic, but I'm really hoping he doesn't go full psycho near the end of the series. I like his relationship with the rest of the team, and I don't want him to kill any of them.
Didn't like volume one. I was not feeling the art style and the panel layouts. Enjoyed the show much more actually which it's rarely the case for me.
Billy the Butcher cause honestly sometimes we take revenge too far to the point we become the monster we tried to destroy and who better shows this then Billy.

I get the feeling Butcher will follow a similar story in the TV series. He'll kill Homelander and I think he'll kill Ryan also which will be the cause of his descent killing the other boys. Especially considering in the series Butcher now has a time limit on his life.
Billy The Butcher has been my favorite character of the show so far, and the way the season ended, I'd like to see how true they stick to source material because it's definitely a bit different from the way the comics start but it's an amazing series, shout out to whoever wins the comic

ngl, Netflix's version felt less like keeping heroes in line and felt more like a vendetta to bringing down the hero organization as a whole
I enjoy the view of super heroes as anti-heros. We all assume they would be good, however our experience with human nature would tell us otherwise.
My fave is definitely Butcher. He's the embodiment of everyone's fantasy of getting back at those who've wronged us. Wish I could be like him lol
Frenchie and Billy are my favorites so far. I know they’ve already changed a lot from the comics aka the ending most importantly. But I wonder if they’ll include any of the Butcher story into the show since the show clearly is trying to humanize him a little more than in the comics (just basing this off this video since I haven’t read the comics).

When extremely violent media is consumed on a daily basis by a person, be it TV, comics, video games, etc, does the person consuming it ever stop to think, “man there is seriously something wrong with me for loving this stuff”? We absolutely idolize this kind of media and no one is asking what kind of affect this is having on the human mind.
Karl Urban was the perfect casting and is undoubtedly the biggest star in that show.

@@baaLsecundus LOL I'm being honest though. I don't appreciate it when directors charge the source materials to fit the narrative they want to push. Season 1 of the show would've been fine if the would have saved what the did for like season 3 instead, but they rushed it all. The trailers sold us all on a show about a team of badasses that put super heroes in their place when they cross the line, but sadly the show didn't deliver. Instead they gave us a political drama fulled with dark jokes. I came for some human on super hero action and they took it all out.

The Boys being superpowered makes more sense than The Boys in the TV show to be honest. I just couldn't wrap my head around the fact that the largest threat to The Seven was a rag tag bunch of normal people (except for the female).

It's been a while since I read the comics (I had the first 12 issues or so) and I was sure Butcher was super so I'm glad I wasn't remembering incorrectly. I like the departure though in the show though as the changes force some character development on the butcher character.

I really hated that Billy turned on the Boys in the end, but the TV show has removed Billy's key motivation so I have no idea where they're going to go with his character now.

Yes, frenchie and kimiko are my favorite. There have been so many times on the show where im just dreading that frenchie will die. (Never read the comics and after watching this im hoping that if they go closer to the comics it goes well.) But if they do decide to off frenchie im gonna be upset.
Also agree with huey. How they set him up in the first season it was obvious that he has panic attacks and doesnt do conflict well. But his character currently (just started season 2) jumps back and forth between season 1 him (easily intimidated and has moments where he just freezes) to him trying to be assertive but coming off as an ass hole/whiny at times.

As for Heuy, i think he was inconsistant since the first season. Now i haven't seen S2. But given the fact he flip-flopped decided to save A-train instead of killing him, which was literally the point of the group he joined (he even killed Carbon) I don't understand why he would even stay with the group in S2 if he isn't gonna make use of himself.

I think they are trying not to do the things that people hated in the comics. Like the directors confirmed that the whole black noir turning out to be [REDACTED] is not going to happen. I suppose it will be the same for Billy.
If u ask me the show feels more light hearted(which says a lot considering the shit that goes on). The rock music, the jokes and quips they make, just everything overall gives it a lighter tone than the comics

@@ginger9835 It wouldn't be interesting, because it already happened in the original. Why we need to repeat the same core elements of the story in the TV show, its story was too liberally written and has major differences from the source.
@Matthew Stratton I actually think it's more likely that Butcher will come back to humanity, originally he became veangeful because he had lost his reason to live, now I think he may get it back, which I think would be a much nicer story
I really think it would be good if he turned out to be a villan. It would be staying true to the comics and also deliver that feeling of nobody ever being truly good or evil.

Don't worry, the show is different than the comics. The directors have already confirmed that the black noir thing is not happening so I am pretty sure they will change the Billy Butcher story as well.

The show seems to be foreshadowing that Hughie is eventually going to take compound V. The show keeps showing us, the audience every time Hughie realizes his physical weakness compared to Butcher, Mothers Milk, ect.. especially in season 2. While at the same time showing us just how much of a good person Hughie is which really makes him the only person in the show who is really worthy of having powers. Not only is he a good person he is also intelligent. At least thats what I've picked up(and am really hoping for because I really do like Hughie and feel for him).

My theory is that as you said Hughie seems to be the most real superhero like in how he acts and wants to save people but physically he’s not and they keep focusing on that but I believe Hughie will take compound v and become as strong if not stronger than Homelander due to the kind of person hughie is where he’s always beaten up weak and treated like crap it will become the biggest flip of the show
@@jimmyhoffa2530 I think it would really ruin what we currently have in the show it the boys take compound V. Right now the show is showing us how you don’t have to be physically stronger than someone to take them down. The boys are able to get ahead through their smarts and cunning.
@@StardustLegend Fortunately its just a show(Thank God). But in reality wits wouldn't be enough and in these types of situations they rarely out due power and strength. They have to take it now that their are hundreds or thousands of supes. A Few normal dudes ain't and wouldn't cut it if was real. I believe it would make things way more interesting.

I'm kinda disappointed The Boys eventually gain superpowers in the comics.
What got me interested in this show is the premise that it's humans fighting the superheroes. Giving them superpowers just makes it easier for them. Hopefully the writers can still manage to make it interesting if ever they gain superpowers.
At sum point I do want them to take compound V because I want to see billy go nuts and start giving brutal beat downs like they did with teenage kix but it also adds suspense like “how are they gonna take out this supe?” If they kept going without powers

I like the concept of the boys
It show's what feels like when we are living in a world full of sups
Thu's open us the reality of what if it apply in our modern era.
It's more of a dark take on the world within the comic universes. MCU loosely did this and was the reason behind the Socovia Accords - that while The Avengers went around saving the world, innocent people are caught in the crossfire and become casualties. So the Boys is a much darker take on that, there's these metas who do whatever they want and go as far as fucking with the average Joe.
If anything i'd prefer shyamalan's unbreakable universe

It's a twisted superman with a sick morality and he abuses his own powers and popularity.
But he is also one of the saddest character because he is an experiment without a backstory or a family.

His 'antics' make it difficult to sympathise with him. In the end he's like any abused kid who decides it's justifiable to become an abuser, he's pathetic. Between 70-80% of kids who're abused don't go on to do the same to others, the ones that do just love to use it as an excuse for their behaviour so they don't have to take responsibility

I wonder just how close to the comics they will be. Maybe there is a Black Noire going around out there, or Homelander's son will in fact grow up to be his doppleganger and set everything in motion to create chaos.
@@brianmccann666 What if Noir is Homelander's son actually, accelerated healing and develops a sick sense of superiority. So he kills his own mother, pins it both on Homelander and Butcher to the other's eyes - and this causes Butcher to start his own scheme of producing the chemicals.
Really good character, in the sense that he never lost sight of his true objective. Everything he did, it's easy to know why.

I like the black noir and I am also looking forward to what happened to the lamplighter. My favourite character is frenchy

Billy butcher obviously... Don't know if the accent is cannon but that's pretty much the only reason

Well technically they didn’t kill Swingwing they used him for information and tortured him. They also didn’t kill kill the G-Men that was Vought-American
Nope. The idea was to blackmail Swingwing indeed, but Butcher decided to sabotage Swingwing's jet pack and he ended up as a stain on the sidewalk.
American comics: stories about the best and brightest people in a world where nothing really terrible ever happens. British comics: stories about the worst and most psychotic people in a world where only the most terrible things happen.
