  • I spent about a week smashing my head against this program to figure out how to work it, and in this video I show how the software operates in case anyone else ends up in the same boat I was in.
    The software is not very intuitive and the manual is vague about many of the functions. What I have here is what I was able to gleam from it and from trial and error.

    Hello, Great video. you helped me though a couple of things. My question is, I have RDVision running on my machine. I have a need to laser scan items, but on my software I only can choose (cut dot and pen). Is this what you have on your software?

    Hi! :) do u know what to do what u get "frame slope" error in everything i send with registration marks? The marks are all detected ok, but I always get a frame slope trying to cut a single A3 in a big table (1050x700mm) no matter where. I bet is something with origins or something, but im lost. The machine works without problem just cutting or engraving, but while trying to use marks... no way :(

    Hello. We have a chinese laser 1300X900 that has a ruida controller RDV6442G-B, a camera mounted on laser head SV300 and we use the RDWORKV8.01.48 for sending files to laser and cutting parameters with a network IP connection set up on laser and PC. The problem is that we can't use the camera because we can't install it. Before the driver problem we have a unknown connectivity on the camera.The camera has a cable which has a USB connection at the end, now where do you connect this camera cable, do you connect it on the ruida USB port or you connect this direct to PC usb ? About the driver we are using WIN10 and we try instal the driver that you mention on the video but it's not working. Buy the way what program do you use for camera RDVISION or RDWORK? Do you know if camera can work on network connection ? Thanks for time in advice.

    Hi JP, can you share the wiring of camera to the system ? I have a rdc6442s (without vision system) and suspect the controller is the same ... and i´d lke to see the diferences trying to do some test but i cant fount any installation manual of controller and camera. Thanks

    • @jpscreations6330
      @jpscreations6330  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The camera is a USB camera that plugs into the PC. The rdvision program reads that, and then sends the modified file to the laser cutter. I actually used the RDC6442 manual to wire in the controller -- it is the exact same controller board as far as i/o, though I don't know if the vision version has anything different internally. The camera is a weird one that doesn't recognize as a webcam and a webcam won't work in the program... so you may have to source one of those. I'm not even sure where to get a backup for if mine fails...

    Im having the same trouble getting the camera to show in RDVision. I get an error that will not let me install the 32 bit version of the software, saying that my system is 64 bit. Did you have to bypass that?

    • @jpscreations6330
      @jpscreations6330  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a long time ago so it's hard for me to remember exactly which steps got it to work because I tried a lot of things. As I recall I had to try a few different times of uninstalling and reinstalling trying different options until I got it to finally work. I don't remember what exact errors I got, but I do remember that I ran everything by right clicking and running as administrator... that may help.

      @@jpscreations6330 I did get the install to work with a different version fo RDVision, Now I am having the same issue you had with the size of the imported image not matching the vectors which are true :( did you ever find a solution or still using your hacked template.

      @@adamkazanagh7461 getting the vectors to be the same size as the imported model was through the camera calibration. The one that makes a bunch of dots to change the skew and zoom. It also took me a bunch of tries to make the perfect model. As I recall I had to calibrate and then match that dpi for the model.

      @@adamkazanagh7461 Out of curiousity what version were you able to get to work? I recently tried the v2.00.10 and it broke everything. Now as soon as it activates the camera during the boot up it force closes the program. I've been trying to roll it back for a few days now.

      @@jpscreations6330 I just started using RDCMarkVisionSetupV1.0.54 It eliminates the BMP (raster) data step. All you do is put a 6mm black circle in several random places on the graphic (Or another supported mark type). Import the vectors, select the first mark point circle and set it, then click find the rest. Put the camera over the first mark point, click first mark point then hit start. The camera will go to all the mark points (circles) then cut it out with perfect precision. The initial step of camera calibration was confusing. With this I don't see any need to use the normal RDVision.

    Does this controller work for large size 1300x2500

    • @jpscreations6330
      @jpscreations6330  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know it should. There is a page setup menu under the config that allows the bed size to be set. I don't know if there is a limit on it.

  • @nimrodsmusic
    @nimrodsmusic 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    we use the same controller and share some project needs, such as needing an autofeed system. they make the autofeed beds but they only really work for fabric. I am interesting in helping fund your project so that i could use it too, if you are interested?

    • @jpscreations6330
      @jpscreations6330  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do have a functional conveyor belt design that is for the small laser cutter 12"x20" cut size. If you are interested in that I can clean up those files. It's designed to fit a nema 17 motor inside the belt frame, and could even fit a stepper driver transformer to make it completely self contained; I made it with the goal of it being modular so I could take it out and have full use of the bed. The belt - made of wood - needs to be covered in metal plating to survive under the laser. Aluminum tape is a short term solution; For industrial strength some thin (~20 ga) steel or aluminum armor slats would be recommended.
      I'm still working on the spring loaded material rails that will go above the belt and press wood panels into the belt to create the required friction to move them; And above that paper rails that squeeze a sheet and move it through the cut zone.
      Next up would be the 'material magazines' that will drop a new piece of wood onto the belt each feed cycle. I'm thinking a pair of verticle chains facing eachother on either side, with a bunch of shelf posts, each holding a single sheet. Each feed the whole stack would shift down 1 and the bottom sheet would drop onto the belt. The empty posts would revolve around to the top to be reloaded. Loading it would require load-step-load-step-load-step or sliding them in from the side. That method would probably have a low weight limit though... still working on it.
      More funds would go to wood for testing parts and to buy the tech parts to design and build the rails and magazine if you are interested in that.
      It should be noted however that a much larger scaled version for a cutting size of more than a couple feet would likely require thicker and wider belt panels, thicker hinges/axles, and a much stronger stepper motor to scale it up to that size. So while some basics might scale up easily, many of the parts would probably need a full redesign to fit your size. Especially the new wood feeder: possibly top loading as a scissor lift bed and a hook that drags off the top sheet.

    • @jpscreations6330

      I haven't had that problem so I don't actually know the solution. My best guess would be to try a different computer and see if that works, or to try over usb. It could be that a driver is not installed right or the signal is getting blocked by a firewall or anti-virus program. Good luck finding a solution.

    GOOD NIGHTS INSTALL THE RUIDA VISION LASER SOFWARE AND I HAVE BEEN VIEWING YOUR VIDEO HAS SERVED ME A LOT, BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO MAKE THE CAMERA CUT WELL A TEXTILE LABEL

    • @jpscreations6330
      @jpscreations6330  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm still not entirely sure what problem your having. Sounds like you were able to get a picture from the camera? If so then did you do the camera calibration? If it isn't done then it would be impossible to get the cut file to line up with the textile (sounds like this may be your problem). I had to do the automatic calibration with the grid of dots. Then I had to do the offset calibration manually because it didn't work the automated way. My method is to do a pulse to make a dot, and open the measure tool setting the current position to point 1, then I move the head so the dot is in the camera cross hairs center, set that position to point 2. The x and y distances are the needed offset distance from laser head to camera head. Hope that helps...

A little info about where you got the camera, what you paid for it, and what it works with would be good too.

      I downloaded the trial of lightburn and tried it out. It is a pretty good program and I do like the interface. It does have a way to connect a camera, but only one that views the whole bed to use as an overlay for assisted positioning. However, it doesn't support a head mounted camera or a marker tracking system that automatically adjusts the laser file to cut in a precise location like this system does. So in theory it seems nice, but this has a functionality that is far superior... even though it's kind of a pain in the butt to use.
