It's a pretty good challenge to get in and out if you're a big guy like me. I'm trying to break it in and hope it will become easier over time. I have no doubt it will be as warm as advertised.

The 4/3 feels more like a 5/4 because the lining is so thick and it gets heavy as well. They really went overboard with the tech but I think they over did it, although it should last many seasons. I have had less restrictive 5/3 suits that were just as warm. Other than their comp series I don't see the niche for this suit. With a hood, boots, and gloves you could wear this (4/3) down to about 11c though. The smooth skin panels are also very stiff.

And what will you do below 11 °C which is the case for most windy days for the next months around here? Wearing a suit that is meant for 0-10 °C when surfing at 11 °C and above only is a case of using the wrong equipment, it's got nothing to do with anything being overengineered 🤦‍♂

@@OliverHaagYeah, though it may be a difference in levels of personal comfort thing... I usually just wear a 4/3 with no boots, gloves or hood in 11 degree water unless the air is much colder. But I am from a cold climate and prefer to be cool in a lighter flexible suit. I have the 6/5 for winter (water temps around 0c) and it is toasty, but obviously not light weight or super easy to get on and off. What I do really love about Xcel is the comfort of their chin sections on the hoods. That alone keeps me coming back to Xcel for winter suits.

@@jamesroscoe7555 Have bought the Hooded Drylock 5/4 for flexibility reasons a week ago, only tested it around 10 °C once now and it was comfortable even after 4 h and it didn't restrict movements much so I'm quite happy with it so far. Will see how it handles the -2 to 0 °C this weekend if the wind forecast is correct, sounds like a good weather for a real test 😁 But I don't have problems with cold weather too so I guess it should be fine. The summers getting hotter and hotter are more of a problem but when surfing you can at least jump into the water 😎
