And anyway, he's not being asked to give up his own country. Crimea and the Donbass have democratically chosen to leave Ukraine, and those regions are no longer under Zelenskyy's control.

People forget that the American Revolution was also a war of attrition. The Continental Army hardly won any battles and was giving ground constantly.
