@@FelixImmler years ago one of my sons, a bonafide genius IQ, made now saws like you do here. He was about ten-years old and, with his brothers, made cabins and huts in the forest around our farm. He has "bug-out" kits that I call "adventure kits" that have just saw blades. I will reintroduce thin film cans with rolled up saw blades in them, to go with regular commercial saws I already have. I have course and fine wood cutting blades, metal and bone blades. All you need is a frame and handle, which is easy to make. I have made buck saws, like "H" frame saw, in the past. I am good at carving, finish carpentry, wood flooring and windows. As well as stone masonry, regular carpentry, roofing and tree trimming and felling. I am good in woods crafts. Starting as a child, learning from local people and tribesmen at first. I passed it onto my children. Your classes spark a renewal in my youth that I pass onto my grandchildren. We learn from all around us, having thousands of hectares of woodlands and forests to travel in. One son not even two weeks ago bough a small farm with a crystal clear river running through it (a fenced off meadow for his banded galloway cows) in the Highlands of West Virginia. Perfect for teaching and raising children in.

To make your bow saw (push as well as pull). You make a large diameter bowl, and place a cross stick in the middle of the bow. Similar to the way you made your buck saw. By making a large bowl and putting in the crossbar, it gives you the rigidity to push as well as pull and because the bow is larger, you still get your depth of cut to the crossbar.

Dear Felix, I love your enthusiasm and passion! I am a big Swiss Army fan and have learned a lot from you! I allways have a small knife in my keychain and used to have a small leatherman but it was confiscated at the airport (silly me i forgot to leave it at home) so i needed a replacement so i got the Swiss Army Mini Champ in alox (So the other keys dont scratch it as much) and was very surprised how good it feels even bieng so small. I think you dont have any videos on the smaller versions. Maby it could be intresting.

Very nifty tips for making a bow saw, Felix!. But, at the 10:33 mark area, I would have run at lease 2 laps of string on the open end, and carried the rest over the saw blade to fasten the upper blade side too. Wouldn't want my blade jamming and coming out of the bow. That could hurt.

  • @jimf1964

The buck saw will always beat a bow saw, because there's a little extra weight to push down while cutting. I love buck saws for bucking wood (thus the name) , but if you have to cut down something? .....I'm really thankful for the detailed and easy instructions Felix. Thanks!

Great video, my friend! Enjoyed watching, your bushcraft skills are terrific! And the surrounding nature is amazing. Cheers from Russia, bro, and welcome to my channel about special Russian bushcraft tips and hacks! Regards, Yuriy!

Would you consider making a video, where you make custom handles for swiss army knives?
Out of wood, or even antler. It would be awesome! In Hungary the scales are really hard to find, and expensive.
    Danke!
