See Badwater Basin After Heavy Rain - A Lake in the Desert, with Andrew Doughty and Revealed Travel

Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park supposedly got its name after a mule refused to drink from one of the local springs bubbling up from the ground. Usually this basin is a flat, hard pan of salt and sand, sitting nearly 300 feet below sea level. After the recent atmospheric river across California and the rest of the west coast brought heavy rains to the area, though, Badwater has come to life.
We've been out here numerous times over the years, and it's usually a dry, hot desert (though admittedly a very cool one to see). After these rains though, it has become a lake in the middle of the desert. We've seen people bringing out kayaks and stand up paddle boards so they can get into nature in a way they rarely are ever able to.
