I remember Mickey would climb it during the park's 50th anniversary celebration a few years ago, I'm sure they'll bring climber Mickey back eventually.
yeah, there's a tinkerbell who flies off the mountain every night to start the fireworks. spoiler: it's usually one of the climbers in stunt gear, wearing a lit up "dress" harness, wings, a lit up wig and a wand.
The best climbing route from my time climbing there ended at the spot directley under the Tinkerbell door at the top overhang. I used hang one handed and wave to the crowd as did some of the other climbers.
Well, I don't think this is going to be a guest experience. I'm almost positive that it's just an atmosphere thing where they have cast members climb the mountain to make the Matterhorn appear more authentic. Although seeing cast members climb Expedition Everest would be kinda cool!
8 years a bit late, but the kit I see in the video is actually the petzl id which is a bit of rope access equipment, similar to a grigri but can be locked off and go hands-free.
@@MJ720 thanks for the info! I had minimal experience back then with grigri, and still haven’t used them often. I just hope they continue climbing once the parks are more open.
Really? What are they like? They surely can't be worse than the old ones... I would get all bruised up in those, especially if I had to share a seat with someone.
"WE ARE THE MATTERHORN CLIMBERS AND THIS IS OUR MOUTAIN" That Was Until They Meet The Yeti
So happy to see this! I remember seeing the climbers when I was a child, almost sixty years ago!

(: I was at Disneyland the day this was being filmed. That's awesome!
Is it just me or did there used to be a tinkerbell that flies by after/during the fireworks?
She still flies during the "Remember, Dreams Come True" fireworks show, but it'll be back after Pixar Fest ends

Haha the Matterhorn Is very dirty lol
The last time I photographed them on the mountain was in 2007. I think the Technical Director has his dates wrong.

I was one of those guys in the 80's. I wore the lederhosen and the Sven name badge but couldnt hold a tune.
I wopuld love to be able to do this!!!!!
Oh my gosh! That would be SOOO scary! I'd never rock climb! EVER! D:
Make the helmets look like hats!
its a shame we prop wont ever see this return since its falling apart and too unsafe to be climbing on it
Maybe they will let you do this with Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom too.
hmmm I wonder if the rock is hot from the Sun. . .
NO WAY GET OUT THIS IS SO COOL!!!!
Can anyone climb the Matterhorn, or just cast members ?
And expert mountain climbers
I saw Mickey climb the Matterhorn when I was little, not sure if this is the same thing.
Why don’t you guys have the climbers anymore
I don’t think Disney wanted them to die
By the yeti
Is there a reason these guys are using a Grigri?

@@dozer11 understandable. Never been myself, but looks fun.
I think he meant seeing them.
As fun as it looks, doesn't it ruin the illusion of forced perspective?
NO!!
No
yeah, right... Disney's biggest thing is safety, so I doubt they'll allow guests to climb the Matterhorn.
