Yea, no Regen wanted when 1st landing a jump. The Grin Tech hub motor with a Regen Clutch to only activate the Regen brake when pulling the brake lever would help with that. Justin said hopefully the motor will be ready to market by year's end. I want 1 laced in a chopper eBike converted from a cool bicycle being sold I found.

yeah my conclusion on this ride, was its not necessary to use regen on the trail, or at least, the "tesla throttle" can get you in trouble, in some circumstances, Lol going off a jump, and also, down that wallride, hahah the wheel locked up at the bottom of the wallride and slid on some leaves, but i survived 😅 I think I can just make a profile in VESC with the braking current set to 0%, and it would disable the regen, without having to reconfigure my throttle and regen each time. But yeah when hitting the jumps and wallride best to turn that tesla regen throttle OFF ... sheesh buddy hahaha I was trying to make it work But at the end i had barely regened an amp hour so its not worth it when ridign on a trail like this. Regen is AMAZING for when you are riding on the streets though

Maybe after Grin Tech & his partners get the new breakthrough in hub motors on the market, it will be found a rear wheel Regen brake on MTB trails might be good corner braking if careful. Bad on the trails though & forgetaboutit on a front brake. Learned that the hard way 😂

It was interesting to see how the Fipsky heated up in the gopro case. Seems like +30C to +40C-ish temperature rise.

that thing got so hot in the case!! it wasn't bad when I was riding on the streets, but that was hot AF on the trail when i was barely moving. I bet I could pop one hole towards the top of it. and it would be sucking air up through the bottom. But yeah It was like twice as hot as it should be

@EBikeBuilder_ hey I think it's a really helpful data point. In sets almost a worst case scenario where you have it in a relatively low airflow case plus low speed, high-ish current and adding a bit of regen heating to boot. I forgot to check the temperature rating on the capacitors in the 75100, but a tear down of a older model used 105°C capacitors - now there is a ton of variables in the degradation potential including
Being slowly roasted at a lower than max temperature.

@@NoInfoFound the ambient temperature during this ride was probably 55 to 60F just for reference. I will have to do something about the heat in the GoPro case; I dont think it will require much additional venting

@@EBikeBuilder_An idea thought of is cut a rectangle hole in the case & hot glue in an aluminum plate to set the Flipsky on in contact. Then hot glue the Flipsky to the metal plate & it's air cooled from the outside with no water drop leaks. I read somewhere that controllers dissipate heat better if sitting on metal directly like a frame or whatever.
